    Clean new apartment, attentive staff

I moved into a beautiful, brand-new, very clean apartment and I'm happy with the place. Staff are friendly, personable and responsive - they fixed my washer fast and offered real support when I needed it. There are lots of activities and companionship (daily exercise, movies, games, charcuterie nights), but parking is limited, walls can be noisy, room sizes feel small for the price ($2,100 and rising), and management sometimes passes the buck; no meals are provided, which is a concern on a fixed income. Overall I'd recommend it for the community and attentive staff, but be aware of the costs and parking.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews paint Connect55+ Manchester as a new, clean, and attractive 55+ community with an active social calendar and a largely friendly, supportive staff. Many reviewers highlight the brand-new condition of the facility, well-kept grounds, safe walking areas, and several on-site amenities. Several residents reported positive move-in experiences, prompt help from administrative and frontline staff, and an immediate sense of community and companionship.

Staff and management: Staff behavior is a consistently strong theme — reviewers frequently describe staff as friendly, helpful, accommodating, personable, and always smiling. Administrative personnel are called out by many as responsive and supportive, including instances where staff provided personal attention during difficult times. However, there is a notable counterpoint: a subset of reviews report unresponsive management, passing-the-buck behavior, and frustration with getting satisfactory answers from leadership. That split suggests generally solid frontline service but some concerns about higher-level responsiveness and accountability.

Facilities and apartments: The property’s physical qualities receive high marks: brand-new construction, very clean apartments, attractive grounds, and enjoyable outdoor walking areas. Apartment features cited positively include multiple size options (two-bedroom and spacious one-bedroom), in-unit washer/dryer, and trash service. The community is pet friendly. On the downside, several reviewers feel apartment sizes are small relative to the price, and at least one maintenance problem (a washing machine breaking on the second day) was reported. Parking is repeatedly mentioned as inconvenient or insufficient, and noise from neighboring apartments has also been flagged as an issue.

Activities and community life: Activity programming is a major selling point for many residents. Multiple reviewers mention a full-time activities director, a monthly calendar, and regular offerings such as daily exercise, movies, games, charcuterie/social events, and other social gatherings. These offerings contribute to a lively community atmosphere and frequent recommendations. That said, a few reviews contradict this upbeat picture by saying promised activities have not yet materialized. This inconsistency suggests that while the activity program is robust for some residents, implementation or communication may vary by time or building status.

Care, dining, and services: It is important to note that this community does not provide on-site care services or meal service according to the reviews. For potential residents seeking assisted living, medical care, or dining included as part of the package, this is a critical limitation. The model appears focused on active independent living with social programming rather than medical or dining support.

Cost, fees, and value: Cost and affordability are recurring concerns. A specific price point mentioned was $2,100, and reviewers also report yearly increases. Several comments express anxiety about the burden on fixed-income residents and perceive that fees are emphasized or that management may be taking advantage of residents on fixed incomes. Combined with perceptions that some apartment sizes are small for the price, these issues raise questions about perceived value for money.

Patterns and recommendations: The dominant overall sentiment is positive regarding the physical property, staff demeanor (especially frontline staff), and available activities — many residents would recommend the community. However, persistent and significant concerns center on cost/fee transparency, management responsiveness, parking, occasional maintenance problems, noise, and the absence of care/dining services. Prospective residents should verify contract details, fee schedules, and escalation/contact protocols; ask for clarity about parking availability and any waitlists; confirm which activities are currently scheduled and the stability of the activities program; inspect unit sizes to judge value relative to price; and test in-unit appliances during a visit. For those seeking active independent living with strong social programming and friendly staff, Connect55+ Manchester appears attractive. For individuals needing on-site care, meal service, or those on a tight fixed income, the community may not meet those needs without additional planning.

About Connect55+ Manchester | A New 55 Plus Active Senior Living Community

Connect55+ Manchester | A New 55 Plus Active Senior Living Community sits at 140 Spencer Street, Manchester, CT 06040, in a spot close to highways, shopping, dining, parks, and other local attractions, so people can get where they need to go easily, and the place is surrounded by green spaces, flowers, and walking paths, which makes things pleasant. The community is still being built, expected to open in early fall, and has units available soon, including 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom options, with square footage ranging from 637 to 1,037 square feet, plus units for those who need ADA features and ones that come with decks, so there's some variety for different needs, and prices for these units go from $1,555 to $1,765. The apartments have in-unit washers and dryers, air conditioning, microwaves, dishwashers, and handrails, which makes daily life easier, and every apartment is cable-ready and set up for high-speed internet, so residents can stay connected with friends, family, or just relax with a good show.

The community's designed for active seniors over 55, and people who want to keep living independently but might need some help with daily activities now and then, offering support with things like medication reminders, personal care, and housekeeping when needed, while also having wellness checks and full-time maintenance so folks don't have to worry about repairs or health questions. There are social events, classes, and group activities on-site, like movie nights in the comfortable theater with leather chairs and old movie posters on the walls, and a fitness center and walking trails, plus hobby rooms and a clubhouse where people can meet new friends or try new things, so there's a sense of belonging and something to do each day if someone wants to join in.

The staff is known to be friendly, with a property manager and an activity coordinator who help keep things running and plan events, and the place is pet-friendly, which is good for those with animal companions. Although the community doesn't provide meals or function as a nursing home, it does offer access to a wide range of care, like home health care, memory care, adult day services, hospice care, respite care for short-term needs, and both independent living and assisted living, so residents can get the right help if things change. The buildings are new and modern, and there's an onsite salon for hair and beauty services, along with a dining and activity room overlooking a patio, which makes it easier to spend time with others or relax in a bright space. Everything's managed by Calamar, and the focus is on a low-maintenance, active lifestyle with enough care and support to help seniors live how they want, so people can enjoy their retirement years without too much hassle or worry.
