    Good rehab but overall unsafe

I had excellent rehab (Wanda) and some staff were warm and treated residents like family, and the food was good. But my overall experience was alarming: the place felt dirty and understaffed, patients were left soaked or not fed, aides overwhelmed, long waits for bathroom help, poor communication, privacy/HIPAA breaches, and rude or even intoxicated nurses - I felt unsafe and think it should be shut down.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these review summaries is highly mixed, with strong praise from some families and patients about specific staff, therapy outcomes, and dining, but very serious allegations from others about neglect, abuse, and systemic failures. Multiple reviews highlight excellent care experiences — notably strong rehabilitation success and positive interactions with therapy staff (one reviewer specifically names Wanda) as well as remarks that some nurses and aides treated patients like family. Food quality is also called out as a positive in several summaries.

However, a substantial portion of the feedback points to severe problems in daily care and staff professionalism. Recurring themes include understaffing and high patient loads for aides, which reviewers link directly to care lapses such as residents being left soaked in urine and feces, nourishment left untouched on tables, and patients not being fed when meals arrive. Multiple summaries report long waits for assistance to use the bathroom. These descriptions indicate missed basic care tasks and possible neglect driven by staffing levels and workload.

Staff behavior and professionalism are another polarizing theme. While some staff are praised as compassionate and attentive, other reviewers allege nurses and aides were rude, verbally abusive, used vulgar language, yelled, or otherwise behaved unprofessionally. There are also extremely serious allegations in the summaries — including claims of nurses being intoxicated on shift and violations of confidentiality/HIPAA — that raise safety and compliance concerns. Poor communication between staff members and with families is repeatedly cited, contributing to family dissatisfaction and a perception of disrespectful attitudes toward families.

Facility conditions and cleanliness are also contested. Some reviewers describe the facility as 'disgusting' and suggest it should be shut down, pointing to hygiene concerns that compound the care-related criticisms. At the same time, positive reports about food and successful rehabilitations show that aspects of the facility do meet expectations for certain residents. This contrast suggests variability in experiences that may be tied to specific units, shifts, or individual staff members.

Taken together, the reviews portray a facility with notable strengths in therapy and certain compassionate caregivers alongside serious, recurring issues in staffing, basic personal care, staff conduct, communication, and regulatory compliance. The pattern is one of inconsistency: some residents receive attentive, high-quality care and achieve good rehab outcomes, while others experience neglect, unprofessional behavior, and possible safety and privacy violations. These contradictory reports suggest systemic problems — such as staffing shortages, uneven training or supervision, and lapses in policy enforcement — that would benefit from targeted managerial attention and corrective action.

In summary, prospective residents and families should be aware of the polarized nature of reviews for Meridian Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center. Positive experiences emphasize effective rehabilitation (including specific praise for therapy staff like Wanda), caring individuals, and good food. Negative reports raise urgent concerns about neglect, understaffing, abusive or intoxicated staff, hygiene, and confidentiality breaches. The overall picture is one of a facility that can deliver excellent care in some cases but also has significant, recurring problems that materially affect resident safety and dignity according to multiple reviewers.
