    Compassionate top notch assisted living

I toured and moved my mom here and couldn't be happier. The apartments are bright, spacious (great one-bed/kitchenette), brand-new and spotless with a five-star, hotel feel and lovely indoor/outdoor amenities (library, game room, theater, salon, walking areas). Staff are professional, caring and incredibly responsive - 24/7 caregivers and nurses, quick call-button response, weekly doctor visits, on-site labs/X-ray and in-house PT - and the activity program, excellent food and included housekeeping/meals/laundry keep residents engaged and families reassured. Highly recommend for compassionate, top-notch assisted living and memory care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on excellent staff, high-quality care, and an attractive, well-maintained physical environment. Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s newer construction and beautiful, hotel-like interiors: bright, airy apartments, well-kept outdoor spaces, large one-bedroom layouts (with built-in shelving and three-sided windows), multiple dedicated common rooms (library, game room, theater), and amenities like an on-site beauty/barber shop and coffee/bagel area. Cleanliness is highlighted everywhere — daily cleaning of common areas, weekly housekeeping, tidy resident rooms, and an overall pleasant smell and appearance. The community’s high ratings (state-rated 5 stars and strong Google reviews) reinforce a perception of quality and attention to detail.

Care quality and staff performance are the most frequently cited strengths. Families and residents report compassionate, professional, and responsive staff at every level — from aides to nurses to management. Specific staff members are repeatedly named and commended, indicating strong personal connections and continuity of care. Clinical supports are robust: weekly physician visits, on-site labs and X-rays, in-house physical therapy, and a doctor shuttle program for nearby appointments. Call-button response times are described as quick, and directors and nurses are said to personally answer or follow up. Memory care is singled out as a strength, with reviewers noting patience, dementia-appropriate programming, and a supportive culture that provides peace of mind for families.

The social and activity environment receives frequent praise. Reviewers describe a wide-ranging activities schedule — daily exercise classes, crafts, themed events like pretend trips to Hawaii, memory-café events, field trips, speakers, games, and regular social gatherings — that keeps residents engaged and upbeat. Dining is generally described positively: multiple reviewers mention enjoyable meals, a bright dining room, and three meals a day included in rent in many accounts. Additional conveniences noted across reviews include laundry included in rent (in many cases), reliable Direct TV, and a pleasant dining atmosphere. Families consistently comment that the community provides clear, frequent communication, including picture updates and proactive safety notifications during the pandemic, which reduced family stress.

Management and operational strengths are prominent: reviewers describe warm, detailed tours led by engaged executive directors, accessible management, and staff that help families navigate placement with care and attention to detail. Several reviewers explicitly say the community felt like home and that staff 'went above and beyond' for residents and families. Long-tenured teams and praise for individual managers and nurses (e.g., Whitney, Jackie DeSantis, Janette R., Susan W.) contribute to a sense of stability and trust.

Notable concerns and patterns: staffing stability and cost. Multiple reviewers mention staffing problems or pandemic-related staffing changes and occasional reliance on outside agency staff — a cautionary theme that may indicate periodic turnover or short-term staffing gaps. Although many reviews emphasize attentive staff, the staffing issue is the main negative pattern. Cost is another consistent concern: several reviewers call the community expensive and note it does not accept Medicaid; some described it as the most expensive option they evaluated. Unit availability constraints are also mentioned, specifically limited two-bedroom units and physical separation between assisted living and memory care areas, which has caused logistical or preference issues for some families. Additional practical negatives include distance from some families’ homes and a few reports of a resident not feeling comfortable or not being the right fit.

In summary, the reviews portray Élan Manatee as a high-end, well-run community with standout cleanliness, excellent amenities, comprehensive clinical supports, and a deeply compassionate staff culture. The strongest themes are staff excellence and resident engagement through activities and social programming. Prospective residents and families should weigh the premium cost and lack of Medicaid acceptance, inquire about unit availability (especially two-bedrooms), and discuss staffing practices and contingency plans during visits. For many reviewers, despite those caveats, Élan Manatee delivered a safe, joyful, and high-quality living experience and is strongly recommended as an assisted living and memory care option.
