    Beautiful peaceful community, check responsiveness

I live here and love the beautiful, peaceful, well-maintained grounds, clubhouse, pool/hot tub, plentiful activities, friendly residents and helpful staff - the food and social turnout are consistently great. HOA fees are reasonable (lower than many nearby), but be cautious: a trench once damaged a vehicle and management was slow to accept responsibility. Overall it's a wonderful 55+ community, just check HOA responsiveness before committing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive about Ridgewood Lakes' physical attributes, social life, and everyday living experience, but there is at least one serious and specific complaint about HOA handling and a road hazard that merits attention.

Facilities and grounds: Multiple reviewers emphasize that the property is well maintained and visually appealing. The clubhouse is repeatedly described as beautiful, and the community offers a range of amenities including a swimming pool, hot tub, and golf facilities (27 holes). Several comments note that the golf course is 'greening up' and that the layout and appearance of the grounds are attractive. One reviewer explicitly mentions the community is improving in appearance over time and left a positive impression on visits, supporting the theme of ongoing upkeep and curb appeal.

Activities, social life, and dining: Social programming and events are a clear strength. Reviews highlight a wide selection of activities suited to an over-55 population, with frequent events, good turnout, and many opportunities to socialize and build neighborly connections. Specific dining praise includes 'delicious food' and an 'awesome' dinner event, with a thank-you directed to 'Mike' for a well-run evening — indicating at least some well-executed resident events and meals. Multiple reviewers described enjoying time with neighbors, feeling relaxed and peaceful, and generally loving the community atmosphere.

Staff and management: Many reviewers praise staff and on-site management, calling them 'very nice' and referencing positive interactions. This is cited as a contributor to residents' satisfaction and the community's friendly, welcoming environment. However, these positive comments about staff and management exist alongside a significant negative allegation related to the HOA (see next paragraph). It is therefore important to distinguish between day-to-day staff who run activities and amenities and governance issues tied to the homeowners association.

Notable concerns and patterns: One review contains a severe complaint about the HOA: it describes a trench across a road that caused vehicle damage and accuses the HOA of refusing to accept responsibility. That reviewer reports being advised to sue and explicitly warns prospective residents to look elsewhere. This is a specific, actionable allegation (road hazard + lack of accountability) and stands in contrast to the many positive comments; it should not be dismissed, especially because it concerns resident safety and HOA governance. A minor note in the reviews mentions the clubhouse being 'less utilized' in one comparison, which could indicate variation in activity levels or usage patterns at certain times.

Summary assessment and recommendations: The dominant themes are positive — attractive grounds, robust amenities, active social life, friendly staff, reasonable HOA fees relative to some other communities, and good dining and event programming. These factors make Ridgewood Lakes appear to be a well-liked, comfortable option for many older adults. At the same time, the serious HOA complaint about a road trench and alleged refusal to accept responsibility is a red flag that prospective residents should investigate directly. Before making a decision, potential residents should (1) ask current residents about HOA responsiveness and any past incidents, (2) request documentation of recent repairs and safety issues, and (3) meet with management/HOA representatives to clarify maintenance responsibilities and dispute-resolution procedures. Doing so will help separate generally positive day-to-day living experiences from the specific governance concern raised in the reviews.

    About Ridgewood Lakes Activity

Ridgewood Lakes Activity sits in Davenport, FL, right near Ludwig's Lagoon public pool and the High Vista and Marbella North Clubhouses, and the place covers a lot of ground for folks 55 and older who want a lively but relaxed lifestyle. You'll find all sorts of homes here like single-family homes, condos, and newer builds, and the houses have features like granite counters, hardwood or tile floors, screened lanais, paver driveways, irrigation systems, and those sizes range from about 1,395 up to 2,549 square feet with two to four bedrooms and two or three bathrooms, and that means people have room to stretch out or invite grandkids to visit. A homeowners' association manages the operations, including a 24-hour manned gatehouse, lawn care, cable TV, and even gated RV storage, which can make things low-maintenance for folks who want to travel or just avoid chores.

When it comes to living here, the rooms often include private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, kitchenettes, cable TV, air conditioning, and telephones, and they're mostly furnished already, so moving in's a little easier. If you ever need help, there are services to assist with bathing, dressing, and managing medication, plus support for memory care covering Alzheimer's and dementia, and they've got monitoring systems and 24-hour supervision for folks who need it. For chores, community staff handle housekeeping, laundry or dry cleaning, move-in organization, and can help out families, too. Parking's organized, and you can catch rides for appointments or outings if you don't want to drive.

There's always something going on, with the clubhouse open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and the grand ballroom or activity rooms hosting scheduled activities, movies, music programs, resident-run groups, and community-sponsored events. Pool and spa hours run dawn to dusk, with heated pools, splash zones for kids, and areas to relax, plus a spa and a sparkling swimming pool when the weather's good. People use miles of walking and biking trails or ride golf carts around the well-kept roads, and lawn games like shuffleboard, bocce ball, tennis, horseshoes, and pickleball are easy to join. If you like golf, the community hosts the Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club with its own 18-hole course designed by Ted McAnlis, and the White Heron Golf Course sits nearby.

Fitness buffs have a well-equipped center and classes to join, while the library's staffed and the craft room comes with a kiln for pottery. The big kitchen, pub-lounge with happy hours, card rooms, billiards, ping pong tables, a communications room, and the arts and crafts room all offer their own crowds and clubs. Outdoors, there are grills for cookouts and a Veterans Memorial to visit, and there's a focus on relaxation, social life, and wellness. Services support different care needs, including independent living, assisted living, respite care for short stays, and specialized memory care. The staff aims for safety, with emergency alert systems in place, and support those wanting to stay active or take life a bit easy, and most days offer plenty of chances to meet neighbors or just enjoy the quiet trails or pool deck.
