    Clean, homey, affordable; limited activities

I toured this small, brand-new memory care facility and found it very clean, simply but nicely decorated, and homey - rooms (private or two-person) are adequately sized with private showers/baths, closets, and you can bring or add personal furniture and paint. It's affordable, well-laid-out with a decent dining area, snacks, an outdoor yard/garden, and easy family visits; activities are limited for those with mobility issues. Staff were mostly attentive and quick to help though I had a couple rude encounters, and note the memory-care wing is a 24/7 lockdown.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews portray Our Home at Riverwood Lodge as a small, homey, and generally well-kept memory care/senior living facility with a mix of strong positives around cleanliness, personalization, affordability, and attentive care, alongside a few recurring limitations related to amenities, administrative clarity, and occasional staff issues.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme is that many residents and families find the care attentive and helpful. Multiple summaries describe staff as excellent and quick to respond, with several mentions of staff being attentive and providing good care. There are also mentions that some staff are still in training, indicating variable experience levels; this seems to be a neutral-to-positive point in most accounts (staff in training but excellent) but could imply variability depending on staffing at particular times. Importantly, one review explicitly calls staff rude and unhelpful — this is a notable negative outlier and should be considered by prospective families as indicative of at least occasional service problems.

Facilities and rooms: The facility is repeatedly described as small and home-like rather than institutional, which many reviewers view positively. Rooms are described as adequately sized, with several private rooms that include private baths and showers; storage like closets/wardrobes and supplied beds are commonly noted. Residents are permitted to personalize rooms (bring personal furniture, paint, decorate), which supports a homelike atmosphere. Some rooms are two-person with shared bathrooms, however, so room configuration varies. The interior is described by some as very clean and even brand new in places, and the layout is generally considered well organized. Heating/cooling and other fixtures are modest (e.g., wall-mounted AC units) consistent with the overall no-frills character.

Amenities, dining, and activities: On-site amenities mentioned include a dining room and a library area, an outdoor garden, in-room refrigerators, and available snacks. Meals receive mixed-to-positive remarks — some residents approve of the meals, while others describe meal quality as variable. The facility supports family visits easily and ambulatory residents can participate in outings. However, activity participation is limited for residents with mobility issues, and the outdoor yard is described as small. Overall, the amenities align with a simple, comfortable living environment rather than an extensive activity campus.

Management, cost, and administration: Affordability is cited as a clear advantage; several reviewers call the facility affordable. At the same time, a couple of reviews raise concerns about unclear financial communication — one summary remarks that "money paid unclear" — and there are comments that the facility "lacks improvements," suggesting that ongoing investment or transparency could be better. The characterization of the facility as "simple no-frills" captures the administrative/product positioning: it provides core services and a homelike setting at a lower-cost tier but may not offer the refinements or continuous upgrades some families expect.

Specialty care considerations: One review notes that the memory care area operates with a 24/7 lockdown. For families seeking secure memory-care services, this could be appropriate and reassuring; for others it may feel restrictive. Prospective residents and families should confirm whether they need memory care and understand the implications of the lockdown policy and the extent of supervision and freedom allowed for other residents.

Patterns and recommendations: The reviews coalesce around a clear profile: Our Home at Riverwood Lodge is small, welcoming, and clean, with staff who are often attentive and residents who can personalize living spaces. It is positioned as an affordable, no-frills option with basic amenities, suitable for families prioritizing proximity, a homelike environment, and straightforward care. Potential concerns to investigate further include room configurations (private vs shared bathrooms), the size of outdoor space, activity programming for less-mobile residents, management transparency about fees and payments, and reports of occasional rude or inconsistent staff behavior. Prospective families should tour the facility (tour guides are reported as helpful), ask specific questions about staffing levels and training, verify financial terms in writing, and inspect the exact room options available to match needs for privacy and bathroom access.
