    Family owned upscale homelike care

I placed my dad here for a long-term stay and I'm very pleased. The family-owned home (since 1965) feels like an upscale B&B-beautiful, clean private rooms, a peaceful backyard pond, and homelike common areas. Meals are homemade and served at the main table, staff are experienced, attentive and caring (they even do nails), and the small size encourages social interaction; visits are flexible until 8 pm. My dad is happy and well cared for, and I'm grateful to the staff.

    Summary of reviews

Swankridge Care Center presents as a small, family-owned residential option with a pronounced focus on a homelike experience. Multiple reviewers emphasized the facility's warm, peaceful atmosphere and upscale, bed‑and‑breakfast aesthetic. The facility's long-standing family ownership (since 1965) and small census create a setting that many families described as more personal and attentive than larger institutions, and several families noted that their relatives were happier or better cared for there than at home.

Care and staffing are frequently identified as strengths. Reviewers repeatedly described staff as caring, attentive, and experienced; families expressed gratitude and confidence in day-to-day caregiving. That said, there are recurring concerns about staff communication: phone responsiveness and the tone of some interactions have been described as inconsistent. These issues suggest variability in front‑desk or administrative responsiveness and occasional lapses in the consistency of staff conduct, which may affect family communication and satisfaction even when direct caregiving is strong.

Dining and daily life are notable positives. Homemade meals served at a main table foster social interaction, and food quality is described as nicely prepared. The small scale supports individualized attention such as personal grooming (nail care) and flexible visiting hours, which reviewers appreciated. However, activity offerings appear limited; while communal meals and outdoor access (a backyard pond) provide social engagement, families seeking a broader program of structured activities and enrichment may find the options sparse.

Facilities are described as clean, well‑decorated, and intimate, with private rooms available and a comfortable, homelike environment. Management practices reflect the family‑owned model, including flexible visiting policies and personalized care; this structure can support continuity for long‑term residents. Prospective families should weigh the benefits of a small, homelike setting—close staff relationships, individualized attention, and a calm environment—against operational limitations such as inconsistent administrative communication and a limited formal activities program. A focused conversation with facility management about communication protocols and activity planning is advised prior to placement.

    About Swankridge Care Center

Swankridge Care Center has been looking after seniors in Homestead, Florida since 1965, ever since SallyAnn Swank started the place as a family-owned community, and over the years they've kept a single-story home that feels safe and welcoming, plus they have private and shared rooms, even private suites if that's what someone needs, and every room lets folks keep their own space and comfort. They provide assisted living and adult day care services, aiming to help people keep their independence as long as possible, while still getting help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, and meals, because sometimes people have conditions like arthritis or diabetes or maybe they're dealing with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, which the staff know how to handle, since they have nurses, CNAs, and qualified medication aides on duty all day and night, seven days a week. Swankridge takes care of things around the house, like laundry and cleaning, and provides easy access to healthcare supplies and medical equipment, so no one's left without what they need, and for meals, they've got dining services, even offering something called gourmet dining options through the White Lion Café, which the residents appreciate since everyone likes a good meal after a long day. There's lots of activities to keep people engaged, including social outings, therapeutic and recreational programs, plus transportation if someone needs to get to an appointment or wants to join in on an event, and pets are welcome too, which makes the place feel more like home and less like an institution. People can stay for short-term respite care or as long-term residents, and the facility helps individuals who need help with regular activities, especially those with conditions like Parkinson's disease or heart problems or those who've had a stroke and need extra rehabilitation, since their rehab care model is known pretty well in the country. Family caregivers can also get guidance on long-term care or insurance questions, and the staff do their best to maintain each resident's dignity and quality of life, taking care of everyone's mental, physical, and emotional health through all the programs they run. The facility is licensed, with state license number 5184, and people pay through insurance, Medicare, or private pay, with an entry fee cost of $500. Whether someone needs a little help or more hands-on medical attention, Swankridge Care Center provides a good, supervised home-like environment where seniors can keep up their lifestyle, get expert care, attend social events, and know they're safe and supported every day.
