    Caring staff, lovely facility, unstable

I loved the small, well-maintained facility - friendly, genuinely caring staff, home-cooked meals, courtyard/pond, low staff-to-resident ratio and thoughtful touches (Julie and the memory-support photos even ordering a guitar). Unfortunately corporate abruptly closed it with little notice; my grandmother was first sent to the Crystal River location (awful), though they later moved her to another facility they own sooner than promised and that one provided excellent care. I had initial cleanliness and staffing worries, but the on-site team was responsive, addressed family concerns, helped with hospital visits and stayed engaged. Overall I highly recommend the staff and intimate setting, but beware the owners' instability and lack of transportation/amenities.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive about day-to-day caregiving and the personal touch at Pleasant Grove Manor, tempered by serious management and continuity-of-care concerns stemming from facility closure and corporate decisions. Multiple reviewers emphasize the advantages of a smaller, more intimate setting: the facility's low staff-to-resident ratio, home-cooked meals, courtyard access, and a calm outdoor environment with a pond and fountain. These attributes are repeatedly credited with enabling more personalized attention, thoughtful gestures, and tangible family engagement opportunities.

Care quality and staff performance receive consistently positive mentions. Several reviewers highlight genuinely caring and responsive staff who go beyond routine tasks — examples include administration and staff proactively addressing family concerns, arranging thoughtful gifts, accompanying residents to hospital visits, and even ordering a specialized item (an acoustical guitar) for a resident. The administrator named Julie is singled out for being proactive and communicative. The facility's approach to memory-support is noted as innovative, with pictures and small shelves outside resident doors, suggesting staff attention to resident-centered interventions. Families report encouragement to be involved and generally describe the staff as friendly and attentive.

Facilities and amenities present a clear trade-off. The property is described as well-maintained with attractive outdoor spaces, and its location is convenient to local amenities. However, its small, intimate scale also means fewer on-site amenities and no dedicated transportation vehicle, which some families see as limitations. Reviewers mention that the facility felt like a true home setting with home-cooked meals, but others cite that the smaller size may constrain expansion and service breadth.

There are notable negative themes that materially affect the overall picture. A number of reviews recount an abrupt closure of Pleasant Grove Manor (or its original iteration) with little notice to residents and families. This closure — attributed in reviews to corporate owners or corporate decisions — forced moves to other facilities, including one named Crystal River, where at least one family reports an “awful” experience and is planning another move. These events raised serious concerns about corporate management, continuity of care, and the emotional and logistical stress placed on residents and families. Closures and sudden transfers appear to overshadow otherwise positive daily-care experiences for some reviewers.

Cleanliness and basic care are areas of mixed feedback. Many reviewers explicitly praise cleanliness and the overall upkeep, while at least one review alleges that the facility was "not very clean" and that some staff did only the minimum to avoid trouble, with residents not being properly cared for. This inconsistency suggests variable experiences that may reflect differences in timing, staffing levels, or subjective expectations among families.

In summary, Pleasant Grove Manor is repeatedly portrayed as a small, home-like facility with caring staff, personalized touches, and a proactive administrator, offering strengths in resident-centered care and family involvement. Conversely, significant concerns are raised about corporate management decisions — especially abrupt closure and forced relocation — and inconsistent reports on cleanliness and staff diligence. Families considering this facility should weigh the benefits of personalized, attentive care and the pleasant physical environment against the risks associated with limited amenities, transportation, and potential instability from higher-level management decisions. If continuity and corporate stability are priorities, follow-up questions to management about ownership, contingency plans, and cleanliness/staffing consistency would be advisable.
