    Warm community but check management

I moved in because the staff felt caring and attentive, the private rooms were affordable, the building is beautiful and conveniently located, and the all-day dining (those homemade soups!) plus lively activities made me feel at home. Housekeeping, maintenance, meds, and transportation were solid when staffing was stable and I loved many individual caregivers. Unfortunately recent ownership/staff turnover brought inconsistent meals, cleanliness and communication problems, extra fees, and some safety/medication concerns. Overall it can be a warm, value-packed community - but check current management and staffing before you commit.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is highly mixed, with strong praise for the community’s social life, activities program, and several compassionate staff members, counterbalanced by repeated and serious operational, cleanliness, and clinical concerns. The facility receives consistent compliments for its vibrant activities calendar and a standout activity director (frequently named Lynne). Residents and families cite a wide variety of engaging offerings — bingo, karaoke, live music, crafts, themed holiday events, nails, baking, ice cream socials, and structured movement/music programs — that appear to create a lively, social atmosphere. Multiple reviewers specifically credit arts-and-medicine type programming, community picnics, and an open cafeteria layout for supporting residents’ social engagement and enjoyment. The presence of pleasant common spaces (library, garden, activity rooms), a welcoming “family-like” environment for many, and a resident dog (Spencer) further contribute to a positive community feel for numerous residents.

Dining, when praised, is a notable strength: several reviewers mention generous all-day dining, homemade soups (corn chowder, other favorites), friendly dining staff, and an open dining room that makes meals accessible throughout the day. Many reviewers say the facility feels airy, well-decorated, and hotel-like, with light-filled private suites that include private bathrooms and small kitchens. Practical conveniences such as on-site laundry service, maintenance responsiveness during move-in, central location near shopping/dining/beach, and organized transportation coordination for appointments are also repeatedly mentioned as positives. Affordability is another theme: multiple families note that private rooms and care are reasonably priced compared with alternatives.

Counterbalancing these positives are substantial and recurrent negatives that reflect inconsistency and decline in certain areas. A significant subset of reviews report declining quality of care over time, including allegations of medical neglect, medication mismanagement, and careless clinical oversight. While some reviewers single out reliable nurses and techs (e.g., Tequila, Brittany) and describe compassionate, patient-centered care, others report that staff are inexperienced, turnover is frequent, and newly hired employees are not adequately trained. Several reviews describe dangerous or disrespectful behavior (staff on phones while caring for residents, undignified treatment, and communication/language barriers) and express concern that medications are sometimes administered by staff without formal training.

Operationally, reviewers describe mixed management experiences: some families praise administration and a seamless transition under leadership, while others accuse sales and management of misrepresentation (promised walk-in closets or larger rooms not delivered), unethical behavior, nepotism, and even fake reviews. Financial concerns appear in multiple reports — extra charges for amenities, rent increases, unpaid vendor claims, and at least one allegation of staff extorting money from residents. Paperwork and administrative follow-through are also flagged as inconsistent, and several reviewers describe situations that they feel warrant external oversight, including one reviewer who suggested a potential state investigation.

Cleanliness and food safety are prominent areas of disparity. Although many reviewers say the facility is very clean or undergoing successful upgrades, other accounts detail unsanitary conditions: dirty carpets (notably near elevators), food left out, reports of roaches in kitchen areas, and complaints about unsanitary food handling. Dining complaints include cold meals, long waits, missing or incorrect items, shrinking portions, and a decline in menu quality or variety; some reviewers explicitly state the dining program is below standard or needs a new dietitian. Service inconsistencies are common: promised amenities such as daily activities, shuttle service, barber/salon, in-room phones or call lights, linens or towels, and timely ticketing/housekeeping were reported as sometimes unavailable or unreliable.

In short, the facility demonstrates clear strengths in social programming, certain caregiving staff, location, and some physical aspects of the building, producing a very positive experience for some residents. However, there are serious, recurrent concerns around care consistency, clinical oversight, cleanliness and food safety, operational transparency, and management stability that have led other families to strongly discourage placement there. The reviews indicate notable variability depending on time, staff assignment, and management status: prospective families should weigh the pronounced activity and social benefits against the documented risks and look closely into current staffing stability, clinical oversight, cleanliness practices, contractual details, and any recent inspection or state reports before deciding.
