    Warm caring staff, spotless home

I placed my mother-in-law here and I'm very pleased - the staff (Rachel and the owner especially) are warm, professional, attentive and genuinely caring, making the transition seamless. The home is spotless and inviting, meals are homemade with fresh meat, vegetables, fruit and even ice-cream treats, and they offer engaging activities, live entertainment and holiday/birthday celebrations. I have real peace of mind knowing residents are treated with dignity, independence is supported, and families are kept comfortable - I highly recommend this caring, trustworthy place.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a consistently positive picture of Shalom ALF Home across multiple dimensions of day-to-day life. Families and visitors emphasize caregiving that they describe as compassionate, attentive, and patient; reviewers repeatedly note that residents are treated with dignity and that staff interactions are professional and kind. These accounts portray care as individualized and respectful, which contributes to family confidence and a general sense of peace of mind.

Dining and activities are highlighted as particular strengths. Reported meal service emphasizes homemade preparations with meat, fresh vegetables, fruit, and occasional treats; reviewers also point to celebrations, birthday/holiday meals, live entertainment, and other programmed activities. The activity offerings are framed as engaging and supportive of residents’ independence, and special events are noted as contributing to a social, celebratory atmosphere.

Facility condition and atmosphere receive frequent praise. The home-like environment is described as warm, inviting, calm, and secure; several comments specifically reference a spotless, well-maintained interior and an overall sense of tranquility for both residents and visiting family members. That environment, combined with attentive daily service, is cited as creating a comfortable living experience.

Management and ownership are portrayed as accessible and hands-on. Multiple reviewers singled out the owner/manager for being involved, helpful, and effective at facilitating smooth move-ins and responsive problem resolution. That accessibility appears to be an operational strength that supports families during transitions.

A few operational considerations emerge from the pattern of comments. Publicly available detail about clinical staffing levels and professional credentials is limited in the reviews; prospective residents requiring higher-acuity medical support should confirm the facility’s clinical staffing, licensing, and skill mix directly. The prominence of owner/manager involvement suggests efficient, personalized oversight but also indicates potential operational reliance on specific individuals; families may wish to understand backup or delegation plans. The small-home model and the emphasis on homelike comfort imply constraints for very high-acuity medical needs. Finally, occasional comments about staff deserving higher compensation point to possible staffing morale or retention pressures; prospective clients may want to inquire about staffing ratios, turnover, and staff-development practices when evaluating long-term fit.

A vibrant and engaging environment is a hallmark of Shalom Home, with a full calendar of activities and entertainment that reflect the lively culture of Miami. Residents can participate in salsa dancing lessons, art classes, and live music nights, fostering social interaction and personal enjoyment. There is also a strong sense of community, with robust activity programs such as bingo, domino games, and other group events, all designed to keep residents active and involved. For those who enjoy the company of pets, the facility is pet-friendly, and families are often welcome to bring well-behaved pets to visit, provided they meet vaccination and behavior guidelines.

Shalom Home accommodates a wide range of needs with both private and semi-private rooms, all set within a state-of-the-art facility designed for comfort, safety, and accessibility. The home is well-prepared for the unique demands of Miami’s climate, featuring hurricane-ready structures such as backup generators, storm shutters, and thorough emergency plans to ensure resident safety. Air-conditioned spaces and hydration checks are a routine part of care, providing relief and security from the subtropical environment.

The culturally diverse population of Miami is reflected in the multilingual staff, with both English and Spanish widely spoken and integrated into daily interactions and programs. Care at Shalom Home is truly individualized, beginning with a thorough assessment upon admission and resulting in personalized care plans that incorporate medical needs, mobility, dietary preferences, and social interests. Families are encouraged to participate in planning, especially for residents with cognitive decline, creating care that is as unique as each individual resident.

Residents benefit from seamless healthcare coordination, including partnerships with local hospitals like Mount Sinai Medical Center, and regular on-site wellness checks with visiting nurses and physical therapists. Transportation services are available for medical appointments, shopping trips, and cultural events—including shuttles to popular destinations like Aventura Mall. For self-care, spa and salon services are offered on-site, providing haircuts, manicures, and other personal treatments that contribute to residents’ well-being.

The staff at Shalom Home is comprised of rigorously selected and highly trained professionals, including Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides, many of whom are fluent in both English and Spanish. They receive ongoing training in areas such as dementia care, medication management, emergency response, fall prevention, and infection control, ensuring that each resident receives skilled and empathetic support. Supervisors and facility owners maintain daily oversight of staff performance and resident well-being, promoting an atmosphere of safety and attentiveness.

Shalom Home also emphasizes meaningful family involvement and connection. Visiting hours are typically set from 8 AM to 8 PM, offering ample opportunity for family and friends to spend time with residents in private or semi-private rooms, as well as in spacious common areas like outdoor patios, lounges, or dining rooms. While the facility encourages visits, there are considerate guidelines to maintain a peaceful environment, such as limiting the number of simultaneous visitors and conducting behavioral checks to uphold safety and privacy. During special circumstances—such as end-of-life care or emergencies—Shalom Home adapts its policies to better suit the needs and wishes of residents and their loved ones, with flexible visitation and supportive supervision as needed.

Above all, Shalom Home works to honor each resident’s dignity, cultural traditions, and personal preferences, fostering an environment where seniors can thrive, remain socially connected, and enjoy their golden years in comfort and security. Through its emphasis on holistic care, cultural inclusivity, and genuine compassion, Shalom Home stands as a premier choice for elderly care in Miami.
