    Attentive staff and resort-like care

I toured and moved my mom in and was impressed - the sales and admissions team were helpful, thorough, and made the process painless. The building is clean and resort-like, staff and nurses are attentive and friendly, meals are good, and there are plenty of daily activities that have helped my mom settle in and thrive. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend The Peninsula to other families.

    Summary of reviews

The Peninsula Assisted Living & Memory Care elicits strongly polarized impressions. Many families and residents describe a bright, renovated facility with resort-like public spaces, a robust activities program, and a staff team that is frequently characterized as warm, attentive, and resident-centered. Reviewers praise the dining program for varied menus and accommodations, the active social calendar (movies, music, bingo, outings), and the presence of on-site amenities such as salons, therapy, transportation, and a busy lobby that supports social connection.

Clinical care and caregiving receive both commendation and critique. Numerous accounts emphasize compassionate nursing and 24/7 availability, effective medication assistance for visually impaired residents, and strong memory-care programming with staff who know residents by name. Counterbalancing those positives are descriptions of inconsistent clinical practices in some cases—delays in attending to care needs, concerns about medication management, and wound-care oversight. These clinical concerns are not universal in the reviews, but when they occur they are serious and families report inconsistent communication around incidents and hospital transfers.

Facility condition and operations also show a mixed picture. The building is repeatedly noted for renovated, light-filled units, an impressive lobby, and pleasant decor; yet there are recurring operational issues such as uneven housekeeping and sanitation practices, odor-control and pest-control concerns in parts of the campus, and ongoing phased renovations that leave some areas feeling updated while others show wear. Maintenance responsiveness is described positively at times, while other reports indicate unresolved maintenance items and intermittent equipment failures (e.g., elevators).

Administrative and management themes emerge as a distinct area of concern. Multiple comments point to billing errors, unclear fee disclosures, late fees, and inconsistent handling of extra charges; leadership turnover and perceived lapses in management communication compound family frustration. A subset of reviews contains serious allegations concerning financial practices and eviction actions; these are significant claims that prospective families should investigate directly with management and, where appropriate, regulatory authorities.

For prospective residents and families: the facility shows strong strengths in staffing culture, social programming, dining, and a generally attractive physical environment. At the same time, the pattern of operational inconsistencies—housekeeping/sanitation variability, staffing fluctuations, billing/fee transparency, clinical-incident communication, and episodic maintenance—warrants careful inquiry. Suggested questions include current staffing ratios (especially in memory care), protocols for medication administration and wound care, incident-reporting and family-notification procedures, pest-control and sanitation schedules, clear itemization of fees, and recent regulatory or inspection history. An in-person visit during multiple shifts (including evenings or weekends), direct conversations with nursing leadership, and review of written policies on admissions, billing, and incident reporting will help families assess whether the Peninsula’s strengths align with their expectations and whether identified operational gaps have been addressed.

About The Peninsula Assisted Living & Memory Care

The Peninsula Assisted Living & Memory Care in Hollywood, FL, serves up to 200 residents and covers a wide range of senior needs, offering assisted living, independent living, memory care, and nursing home options. Visitors can walk through on facility tours or take virtual visits to see the daily life, dining, and activity spaces. The staff uses a "connect" function for setting up first consultations, and they help families decide on care types, move-in steps, and waiting lists, giving advice about care plans as well. The community makes custom care plans for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, and there's a dedicated memory care building with safety designs to prevent wandering, security systems, and specialized technology like bracelets to help keep everyone safe.

Inside, residents find a clean, bright atmosphere that has a homelike feel and spaces meant for connection, with an atrium, a spacious lobby, and both private and shared living areas. There are different types of apartments, like studios, singles, two-bedrooms, semi-private, and private rooms, some with kitchenettes and private baths, and each room comes with cable, WiFi, refrigerators, and laundry services. Residents can have pets like dogs and cats. Handicap-accessible showers, private bathrooms, and wheelchair-friendly design help people with mobility needs, while the sprinkler system, secured entries, and supervised wandering management help with safety.

The care team and medical oversight include a medical director, nurse practitioner, nurses, and visiting professionals such as dentists and therapists, offering services like medication management, wound care, podiatry, occupational therapy, and behavioral support. Staff can help with assisted transfers, mechanical lifts, dressing, bathing, grooming, incontinence management, and almost any daily task needed around the clock. They're able to work with people who need light, medium, or heavy levels of care, including special help for those with Alzheimer's or behavioral issues.

Dining choices include a main dining room, private dining spaces, and in-room dining. Meals get planned by chefs, with guest meals, room service, and careful attention to special diets like low/no salt, low sugar, or vegan food. The campus has lots of activities, a game room, a theater, a fitness center, salon, guest parking, and walking paths on pretty grounds. The full-time activity director arranges social events, exercise, arts and crafts, yoga, stretching, gardening, community service, educational talks, pet programs, trivia, wine tastings, trips, and movie nights. Devotional services are available on and offsite, as well.

Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are all handled by staff. Transportation services include complimentary rides, transportation at a cost, and resident parking. The community supports independent living as long as possible; residents can age in place and increase support as needed. Peninsula has a strong reputation, earning awards like Best of Senior Living and high satisfaction scores, with programs in place for whole-body wellness, social connection, and safe, comfortable living for seniors needing extra help.
