    Compassionate care, serious safety lapse

I found this small, clean, home-like facility with compassionate, professional staff, great meals, activities, and strong communication - overall they provide excellent, personalized care and I was grateful for the peace of mind. However, a serious safety lapse occurred: a resident wandered off and wasn't found for over six hours (police report filed), which was unacceptable. Because of that incident I'd be cautious about leaving a vulnerable family member there until safety issues are addressed.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive, with a consistent emphasis on a small, home-like environment where residents receive personalized attention and compassionate care. Multiple reviewers highlight cleanliness, a cozy atmosphere and a well-maintained building. The facility’s smaller scale is repeatedly praised as contributing to a family-style environment and more individualized interactions, which many families cite as making transitions easier for new residents.

Staff and management receive frequent acclaim. Several reviews specifically praise the administrator (referred to as Correll/Correl) and a staff member named Ian Wint, noting geriatric knowledge and professional oversight. Reviewers often describe staff as patient, kind, attentive and respectful; they single out nurses and caregivers for daily care, bathing, and assistance. Management involvement — including an owner with a medical background — and clear communication with families are highlighted as important strengths. Many families report a seamless move-in experience, good explanations of options, and that staff act in the patient’s best interest.

Clinical and programmatic aspects are positive in the majority of accounts. Activities and daily exercise programs are described as outstanding and stimulating, contributing to resident engagement. Dining is another commonly praised area: reviewers describe nutritious, balanced, and home-cooked meals that residents enjoy. Reviewers also note COVID-19 safety measures, Medicare assistance, and overall operational competence as reassuring factors.

However, there are serious concerns that temper the overwhelmingly favorable feedback. A small but significant number of reviews report major safety and quality issues: the most serious describes a resident who wandered off and was not found for over six hours, with a police report filed. Other complaints include lack of attention, alleged negligence, and accusations of unprofessional or unethical staff behavior. These negative reports suggest some inconsistency in care or lapses in training and supervision for certain shifts or employees.

Another recurring practical issue is limited capacity: several reviewers mention waiting lists, which can be a challenge for families needing immediate placement. While many reviewers highly recommend the facility, the presence of both strong praise and severe negative incidents indicates variability in experiences — likely reflecting differences in staffing, shift coverage, or isolated incidents rather than a uniform pattern.

In summary, the dominant themes are a clean, homelike small-facility environment with compassionate, patient staff, strong management involvement, robust activities and good dining — all contributing to peace of mind for many families. Prospective residents and families should weigh these broadly positive indicators against the documented safety and professionalism concerns. When considering this facility, ask direct questions about staffing levels and turnover, staff training and supervision, missing-person/wandering protocols, recent incident history and corrective actions, waiting-list policies, and inspection/licensing records. Visiting multiple times, speaking with current families, and requesting documentation around safety incidents will help clarify whether the facility’s generally strong reputation fits your specific needs and risk tolerance.
