    Clean facility, serious safety concerns

I have mixed feelings. The facility is very clean, well laid out with park-like grounds, tasteful private rooms, safety features, great home-style food (varied menus, delicious aroma) and many caring, attentive staff and activities like daily yoga - I saw content residents. But I also experienced jail-like treatment at times: language barriers, unhelpful night staff, privacy violations during bathing, a HIPAA/privacy breach, signs of racial discrimination, over-medication, undisclosed falls/bruising, and confusing semi-private room issues; owner/management involvement worried me. I recommend it for the food, cleanliness, and kind daytime staff, but urge caution because of the serious safety, privacy, and discrimination concerns I witnessed.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries for Kare Assisted Living is mixed but leans positive in areas of cleanliness, food, grounds, and day-to-day caregiving. Multiple reviewers consistently praise the facility for a home-style atmosphere, tasty and healthy meals, well-maintained grounds (manicured lawns, gardens, courtyard, park-like setting), accessible and easy-to-navigate interiors, and tastefully decorated private rooms. Cleanliness is a strong theme — reviewers repeatedly describe the facility and bathrooms as "very clean" and note good hygiene maintenance. The physical environment, including outdoor walking areas and canopy-covered spaces, is frequently highlighted as a major asset that contributes to resident well-being.

Staff and care quality show a clear pattern of strengths alongside serious concerns. Many reviewers describe staff as kind, caring, attentive, professional, and passionate — providing TLC and a family-oriented approach that makes residents feel comfortable. Several recommendations and high recommendations come from people who emphasize the caring nature of staff and the level of attention residents receive. At the same time, a minority of reviews raise significant issues: reports include unhelpful night staff, a language barrier with some employees, allegations that residents were not always treated respectfully, and serious accusations such as privacy violations during bathing and even HIPAA breaches. These negative reports signal inconsistency in staff performance or gaps in training and oversight that can materially affect resident safety and dignity.

Dining and activities are generally praised, but the feedback is not uniform. Many reviewers mention healthy, home-style meals, varied menus, daily soup, tasty food, and appealing aromas. There are positive notes about snacks and some structured activities (daily yoga and aerobics, and in other reviews "amazing activities"). However, a few reviewers state there were no activities or therapies, and one noted a specific food-safety issue (shrimp served with shells). This split suggests programming and food practices may vary by unit, shift, or over time; prospective families should verify current menus and activity calendars directly with management.

Safety and clinical concerns appear in several serious comments. Specific allegations include undisclosed falls, bruising to a resident's face, and over-medication. These are important red flags because they relate to resident safety, transparency, and clinical oversight. While many reviews emphasize safety features such as bathroom rails and an accessible layout, the presence of these allegations indicates potential lapses in incident reporting, medication management, or monitoring. Families should seek documentation about incident reporting practices, medication review procedures, and staff training to reconcile these conflicting impressions.

Management and policy issues are another area of divergence. Positive comments include an open visiting policy and owner/management visibility in some contexts, while negative remarks criticize the owner/co-owner involvement, characterize treatment as "jail-like," and describe confusion about semi-private room arrangements. There are also strong accusations of racial discrimination in at least one review. These management-related concerns, combined with the reported privacy/HIPAA incidents and communication problems, suggest variability in administrative practices and underscore the need for prospective residents and families to ask pointed questions about policies, complaint resolution, staffing ratios, and how management handles investigations and corrective actions.

In summary, Kare Assisted Living receives frequent praise for its clean facilities, pleasant grounds, family-oriented and caring staff (in many accounts), and tasty food. However, a cluster of serious negative reports — including privacy breaches, alleged discrimination, undisclosed falls, possible over-medication, and inconsistent activity programming — cannot be overlooked. The pattern suggests the facility can provide a warm, safe, and engaging environment, but there may be variability in care quality and management responsiveness. Prospective residents and families should weigh the many positive comments, but also conduct direct due diligence: tour multiple rooms (including the unit you would occupy), review recent incident and medication policies, ask about staff training and turnover (including night staffing), request the current activity calendar and menus, and inquire about how complaints or incidents (falls, privacy breaches, discrimination) are documented and resolved.
