    Compassionate home care, one concern

I placed my mom here and felt immediate peace of mind - the small, home-like facility and hands-on, compassionate staff (Lisa and Latoya were especially wonderful) treated her like family with family-style meals, daily activities, a large screened outdoor area, and lots of warm hugs and advocacy with health providers. The residence is clean, comfortable, and truly caring, with dedicated leadership and regular face-time visits. My only concern: I found Guy Sharon rude and untrustworthy. Overall, this was the best option for my grandmother.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize that The Sarah House - Tomoka feels like a true "home away from home," with many comments describing a family-like atmosphere and peace of mind for relatives. The most frequently mentioned strengths are the compassion and attentiveness of the staff, the smaller facility size that allows for more personalized attention, and a warm, dignified environment where residents are treated with respect and affection.

Care quality and staff behavior are recurring highlights. Reviewers repeatedly note that staff members are loving, provide hugs and a compassionate ear, and actively advocate for residents with outside healthcare providers. Specific staff members are named positively (for example, Lisa for clear explanations and Latoya for exceptional care of a mother), and several accounts describe a hands-on director and CEO involvement, which reinforces a sense of engaged leadership. The staff is described as working hard to do the best for everyone, and families report feeling comfortable and grateful for the care provided.

Facility features and daily life receive consistent praise. The residence is described as clean and comfortable, with a large screened-in outdoor area that adds to the homelike feel. Dining is noted as family-style, which supports the communal atmosphere, and there are social daily activities that actively include residents in fun events. The smaller scale of the facility is explicitly framed as an advantage by reviewers — it enables more attention per resident and a friendlier, accommodating environment.

Visitation and communication are also positive points. Reviewers mention that the facility facilitates regular FaceTime visits, enabling families to stay connected even when they cannot be there in person. Communication from staff (explaining situations, being accommodating) is singled out as a reassuring factor for relatives deciding to place loved ones there.

The primary negative pattern is isolated but notable: one individual, identified as Guy Sharon, is repeatedly described in very strong terms (rude, pompous, arrogant, "disgusting behavior") and prompted explicit warnings not to trust that person. This appears to be a single-person concern amid otherwise favorable feedback. While it does not negate the large volume of positive comments about care and environment, it is a serious reputational issue that prospective families should be aware of and that management should address to maintain trust.

In summary, the reviews portray The Sarah House - Tomoka as a small, well-kept, family-oriented facility with compassionate staff, active leadership, and meaningful daily engagement for residents. The combination of personalized attention, advocacy with healthcare providers, welcoming communal spaces, and family-style meals contributes to a strong overall recommendation from multiple reviewers. However, there is an important, isolated complaint about a specific staff member that could materially affect a family's perception and should be clarified with management during the touring or decision-making process.

About The Sarah House - Tomoka

The Sarah House - Tomoka sits in the Ormond Beach area and offers different levels of senior care, including assisted living, memory care, nursing homes, independent living, in-home care, and continuing care retirement community services, which means people can find the type of support they need as their needs change, and they have a licensed capacity of 24 residents at Sarah House at Old Tomoka Road, which keeps the place cozy and easy for residents to know one another. The staff at Sarah House focus on providing both assisted living and specialized memory care, especially for people living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, and caregivers are around 24 hours a day to help with emergencies, provide help with bathing, dressing, medication, insulin monitoring, moving from bed to wheelchair, and making sure everyone's staying safe, fed, and looked after.

Residents get furnished private or semi-private rooms with telephones, and they can spend time in comfortable indoor common areas, do arts and crafts, watch movies, join activities that help keep their minds and bodies active, or spend time in lush gardens and walk the outdoor paths, while the whole place tries to feel homelike and welcoming, focusing on personal dignity and independence with the "Sarah House Way" approach that keeps people social and feeling purposeful. The dining program serves chef-prepared meals that meet special dietary needs like for diabetes or food allergies, with all-day dining options for variety, and staff can help with feeding or making sure residents are hydrated and eating well, while outside healthcare providers-like doctors and podiatrists-visit as needed for extra medical support, and the location's close to the Florida Hosp Cancer Institute and Dr. Ailani Rajesh K, MD so emergency healthcare isn't far.

Housekeeping, linen service, and laundry are included, and residents can use beauty and barber services right there, so it's easier to look and feel good without leaving home. There are religious services, transportation to appointments or events, and recreational or resident-run activities, giving people ways to stay busy and connected, all while compassionate staff focus on individualized care, from memory care that helps reduce wandering and confusion, to day-to-day help with whatever someone might need. Sarah House is a Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity provider, with state license #12175, and its Seniorly community score is 7.3, so people can get a good idea of what to expect if they visit or tour, and in the end, it's a quiet senior living community that's just trying to help people live with dignity, comfort, and the kind of dependable support that keeps things steady in later years.
