    Caring staff, cozy active community

I placed my grandma here and overall I'm very pleased. The staff (Doreen included) are kind, professional and attentive, the place feels cozy and home-like, and residents are happy and social with abundant activities (live music twice weekly, outings, games, pet therapy, yoga, library trips) and fresh, tasty meals. Rooms are spacious, the building is generally clean and well-kept with 24/7 care, though it's a small facility so it can feel crowded and could use some TLC/modernizing and more one-on-one attention at times. I recommend it but suggest visiting in person and asking about staffing and cleanliness.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Angel House Senior Services is mixed but leans positive, with many reviewers emphasizing a caring, family-like atmosphere, active programming, and good food. Multiple families describe the staff as compassionate, patient and attentive; they highlight an intimate, home-like setting that encourages socialization and restored mobility for residents. Positive reports frequently note fresh on-site meals, abundant and varied activities (live music, pet therapy, Wii, games, puzzles, bowling, library visits, bingo, and outings to places like Lion Country Safari and Walmart), and a cozy physical environment with spacious rooms and a large kitchen. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility and say their relatives are happier, more active, and well taken care of.

Care quality and staffing present a notable pattern of divergence. Many reviewers praise a high caregiver-to-resident ratio, round-the-clock care, and well-trained, professional staff who take time with residents. The owner, Doreen, is repeatedly mentioned positively as attentive and caring. These accounts speak to individualized care, support for families, and staff who enjoy helping residents. However, a distinct minority of reviews raise concerns about staff morale and engagement: reports describe cold or lifeless staff, underpayment, long hours, and interruptions from management. There are also comments about miscommunication between staff members. This split suggests that experiences at the facility can vary by shift, unit, or over time, and that staffing stability and managerial practices may be uneven.

Facilities and cleanliness are similarly mixed in reviewer perception. Many families describe the facility as clean, well-maintained, modernizing, and environmentally friendly, with soothing ambient music and wireless speakers contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. The small size and cozy layout are seen as benefits by multiple reviewers. Conversely, several commenters reported the building is outdated, crowded, or in need of a facelift; a few explicitly said cleanliness is a concern. One reviewer noted an open-facility security concern. These conflicting impressions indicate that prospective families should inspect the physical space in person, pay attention to cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas, and ask about recent maintenance or upgrade plans.

Dining receives strong positive feedback overall: several reviewers emphasize that meals are prepared fresh on-site, smell and taste good, and are healthy and balanced. Nonetheless, there is at least one complaint about an unsatisfactory lunch (described as a thin sandwich) and a note that some residents did not receive meal assistance when needed. This points to generally good dining operations with occasional lapses in execution or individualized service.

Activities and social programming are among the facility’s most praised features. Reviewers consistently list a wide array of organized activities and outings, frequent live music, and opportunities for residents to remain engaged and social. Many families credit the facility with restoring residents’ zest for life and mobility. That said, a subset of reviews report that residents were not engaged or were left in rooms during activity times—indicating inconsistent delivery of programming or insufficient one-on-one engagement for some residents.

Safety and regulatory matters require particular attention. While several reviewers describe the environment as safe and secure, there are important negative flags in the reviews: mentions of regulatory issues and a serious allegation that wandering patients were medicated to sleep. Such claims are significant and warrant verification through direct inquiry with the facility, review of state inspection reports, and discussion of medication and behavior management policies. There is also a remark about open facilities posing security concerns, and at least one reviewer recommended staying clear based on their experience.

In summary, Angel House Senior Services shows many strengths—especially its compassionate staff (per many families), home-like atmosphere, robust activities and outings, fresh meals, and the potential for strong individualized care. However, reviews reveal variability: some families describe disengaged or overworked staff, occasional cleanliness or maintenance issues, inconsistent activity participation for residents, and troubling safety/regulatory allegations. For families considering this facility, a careful, in-person tour is advised: observe staff-resident interactions across different times of day, attend an activity session, inspect cleanliness and security measures, request recent inspection reports, and ask for clarity on staffing ratios, medication policies, and how the facility handles wandering or behavioral issues. These steps will help reconcile the positive experiences many families report with the serious concerns noted by a minority of reviewers.

    About Angel House Senior Services

Angel House Senior Services sits right in Pembroke Pines, Florida, offering a home-like setting for older adults who need daily help and care, and while it stays on the smaller side with only six licensed beds, the community still manages a lot, like assisted living, adult daycare, memory care, and even hospice or respite care for up to one month if someone only needs a short stay, and they do this in both English and Spanish, which really helps folks feel at home if they're more comfortable in either language. The house keeps an average cost around $5,000 per month and has been rated 4.0 stars with recognition as a Best of Senior Living All Star, meaning most families and residents leave positive feedback about its care.

Families often appreciate the personal touch, with an especially good staff-to-resident ratio, and every person gets help tailored to their needs, like bathing, dressing, grooming, walking, or using a wheelchair, and plenty of support for medication, wound care, diabetic care, and more, plus on-call doctors, nurses, and even regular visits from specialists like primary care physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, and therapists for physical, occupational, or speech needs. The facility has licensed staff who receive regular training and the registered dietician makes sure residents eat three home-cooked meals each day, along with healthy snacks, fresh fruit, and drinks available whenever someone's hungry. They set up the food so everyone shares meals in a family dining room, which many seniors enjoy, and they keep the menus nutritious and varied for taste and health.

Angel House Senior Services allows pets, and doesn't let anyone smoke inside, making it healthier for everyone, and they have wheelchair accessible showers, private baths, and safety features like a sprinkler system and other accessible touches, which does make things more comfortable for those with mobility limits. The care home has indoor and outdoor spaces-there are patios, gardens, a swimming pool and heated Jacuzzi, even a piano and a computer center so folks can use the internet, learn new things, play games, or visit with family on video calls-and if someone needs a haircut, barber or nail care, they can get that on site too.

There are plenty of activities both inside and out, like social events, art and crafts, educational programs, parties, and group outings, and memory care residents get activities designed just for them. Residents can park if they drive, but also have free transportation for outings, appointments, and errands. Laundry, housekeeping, and linen services get done regularly, and families report the home stays clean and tidy.

Room choices range from studios and single or two-bedroom units in assisted living to private and semi-private nursing home rooms, so seniors can pick what suits them best. Adult daycare is available for those not staying overnight, and there's no waiting list for day program care if you need something soon. The place stays open for in-person visits during regular hours, so families can drop by and see their relatives in action or talk with staff face to face.

Angel House Senior Services is licensed by the State of Florida, works on a non-profit basis, and offers everything under one simple, all-inclusive price, which covers care, activities, food, housekeeping, and transportation, and though it's not a huge fancy place, people speak well of the staff and the steady level of attention each resident receives in this smaller, warm, and family-run environment.
