    Caring attentive staff, beautiful grounds

I placed my mother here and couldn't be happier. The family-owned staff are attentive, loving and professional - meds and care are handled promptly and communication with doctors is strong. The facility is spotless, home-like and spacious, with beautiful landscaped grounds, roses, oak trees and walking paths. Meals are good (three a day plus snacks), activities are plentiful and engaging (singalongs, crafts, bingo, church, therapy), and administration is responsive. Costs are lower than peers (note some extra charges for laundry/meds), and residents truly feel like family. Highly recommended.

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, individualized care and a comfortable, home-like environment. Many reviewers describe staff as attentive, caring, professional and personable; a common theme is that residents are treated like family rather than as anonymous clients. Multiple comments praise the facility for going "the extra mile," offering hands-on support during transitions, and resolving issues promptly. Medication administration and clinical communication are highlighted as reliable — reviewers note accurate and timely med delivery, good communication with primary care providers, a nurse on staff, and physician visits twice weekly.

The physical setting and cleanliness of the community are consistently praised. Reviewers describe a brand-new, spotless facility with spacious indoor areas and a large, landscaped outdoor space featuring walking paths, roses and oak trees. The combination of well-kept grounds and roomy interior common areas supports both mobility and socializing. Practical amenities called out include an on-site washer/dryer room and available physical therapy services, which reviewers noted as helpful for residents' daily living and rehabilitation needs.

Dining and activities are prominent strengths in the reviews. Most reviewers compliment the quality and variety of the food, and one or more specifically said their family member "loved the food." The program offers three meals a day plus snacks. The activities department receives extensive praise for being robust and diverse: examples cited include bingo, church services and Bible studies, staff-led singalongs, crafts and painting, exercise and other social/mental stimulation. Reviewers note that the activities promote strong social bonds and mental and physical engagement, and staff-led outreach (photo updates, cheerful cards) helps keep families connected.

Management and staff responsiveness are recurring positives. The community is described as family-owned with local management that is approachable and accommodating. Specific staff members were praised by name for being easy to work with and responsive, indicating consistent, personalized administrative support. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to work with families to meet individual needs, which reinforces the overall family-like atmosphere and trust in care.

The most frequently mentioned concerns are limited and specific. Several reviewers note that the facility's base pricing is lower than local peers but that there are extra charges for certain services — specifically laundry and medications — which some families found worth highlighting. A small number of reviewers suggested meal portions could be larger. Aside from these points about fees and portion size, negative feedback is minimal in the provided summaries.

In summary, Shelton Manor Independent and Assisted Living is depicted in these reviews as a clean, well-maintained and attractively landscaped community with a strong emphasis on individualized, compassionate care. Clinical oversight and medication management are dependable, activities are plentiful and engaging, and administrative staff are responsive and family-oriented. The main trade-offs reported are modest extra charges for services such as laundry and medications and occasional comments about portion size. Taken together, the reviews portray Shelton Manor as an affordable, high-satisfaction option with pronounced strengths in staffing, atmosphere, programming and facility upkeep.
