    Compassionate care, occasional cleanliness concerns

I'm grateful for the compassionate, professional staff-especially Nurse Andreas and the rehab team-who helped my mom regain independence in a clean, home-like facility with attentive management and personalized care. That said, I noticed intermittent staffing and cleanliness issues others also reported, so I recommend it with some caution.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is mixed but leans positively: a substantial proportion of reviewers praise West Broward Care Center for attentive, compassionate care, strong nursing and rehab services, and a welcoming, family-like environment. Many families report excellent outcomes—residents regaining independence, successful rehab stays, and safe discharges home. Staff are frequently described as professional, patient, and above-and-beyond in their efforts; specific staff members (including an excellent nurse and admissions personnel) are singled out for outstanding customer service. The facility receives repeated commendation for cleanliness, well-kept rooms and bathrooms, and a generally pleasant atmosphere that gives families peace of mind. Recreational offerings are noted as robust, with movies, games, sing-alongs, outings, free manicures, and an affordable salon contributing to resident quality of life. Dining is also highlighted positively in several summaries, with personalized meals and tailored care for dietary needs.

Care quality and clinical services: Many reviews emphasize top-notch nursing care and an effective rehab/physical therapy program. Multiple accounts describe notable clinical improvements—such as residents recovering mobility and returning home—indicating that rehabilitation services work well for many patients. Staff are characterized as capable, attentive, and compassionate, and the facility is credited with delivering personalized care and attention to dignity and respect. However, these positive clinical reports are contrasted by a few very serious negative accounts: isolated but severe allegations include neglect, bed sores, sepsis, and misdiagnosis, with at least one reviewer reporting withdrawal from the facility and contemplated legal action. These reports raise significant safety concerns and suggest important variability in clinical outcomes and oversight.

Staffing, management, and professionalism: A common theme among positive reviews is accessible, responsive management and a dedicated team that goes beyond expectations—Vivian in admissions and a standout nurse were named as examples. Long-tenured staff and a welcoming receptionist contribute to a stable, reassuring environment for families. At the same time, several summaries cite problems with staffing levels, undertrained personnel, slow response times, and lack of supplies—issues that can erode trust and potentially compromise care. The coexistence of high praise for specific staff and serious complaints about professionalism suggests inconsistency: many encounters are excellent, while a minority involve critical failures in staff performance or management oversight.

Facilities, cleanliness, and amenities: The facility is often described as clean, well-appointed, and comfortable, with nice rooms and bathrooms. Amenities such as an inexpensive hair salon and free grooming services are appreciated and support resident wellbeing. Contrarily, some reviewers reported dirty areas, unclean restrooms, and an odor of urine, indicating that cleanliness and maintenance may not be uniform across the building or over time. These discrepancies point to uneven facility management or episodic lapses in housekeeping.

Activities and dining: Social programming and activities are a strong positive: reviewers mention diverse offerings that promote engagement and joy (movies, games, sing-alongs, outings), and personalized meal services that accommodate resident preferences. These features are repeatedly credited with contributing to a home-like atmosphere and residents’ emotional wellbeing. Nonetheless, at least one reviewer found the food disappointing, which indicates that dining satisfaction may vary by individual expectation or by unit.

Notable patterns and takeaways: The dominant pattern is one of generally high-quality, compassionate care with strong rehab outcomes and a supportive environment for many residents and families. Positive experiences frequently note individualized attention, professional staff, and effective communication. However, there is a significant minority of reviews reporting severe clinical neglect and facility/operational problems (unclean areas, understaffing, slow responses). These negative reports are serious and merit attention: they introduce risk signals that potential residents and families should investigate further. Given the variability in experiences, prospective families should tour the facility, ask about recent staffing ratios, infection control and wound care protocols, incident reporting, management responsiveness, and specific outcomes for rehab patients. Asking for references or speaking with current families could help assess consistency. Overall, West Broward Care Center appears to deliver excellent care for many residents, but the facility also shows pockets of concern that prospective residents should evaluate directly before making placement decisions.
