    Highly recommend attentive memory care

I placed my dad here and I'm very pleased. The courteous, professional staff - especially Miss Allison and Petrona - provide attentive, respectful memory care that exceeded expectations. Rooms and communal areas are clean and comfortable, there are meaningful activities (crafts, games, photos, FaceTime/text updates), three meals plus snacks, on-site/24-hour medical support, and the smooth, affordable admission gave us real peace of mind; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The Residence at Pompano Beach elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many accounts describe warm, compassionate caregiving, a robust memory-care program, and an active calendar of activities that includes live music, themed celebrations, crafts, and courtyard events. Communal spaces are frequently characterized as bright, well-appointed and welcoming, and families frequently cite helpful admissions staff, smooth transitions, on-site therapy and salon services, transportation for outings, and active use of digital communications to keep relatives connected.

Care quality and staff interaction are among the facility's most consistently praised features: reviewers cite caregivers who create meaningful connections, provide attentive support, and go beyond routine tasks. Memory-care programming and 24-hour staffing are noted strengths in many accounts. However, there are repeated concerns about variability in staffing responsiveness and clinical oversight. Specific operational issues include delays in returning family calls, inconsistent medical updates, and perceptions of insufficient clinical involvement in some cases. Prospective families should clarify staffing ratios, clinical oversight arrangements, and escalation protocols during visits.

Dining and activities present a mixed picture. The community has an in-house chef and dietitian guidance, and many residents enjoy meals and the active social program. At the same time, other accounts describe inconsistent food quality and dissatisfaction with particular meal experiences. The activities program is a clear positive for residents seeking social engagement — daily and monthly programming, live entertainers, and courtyard events are frequently highlighted.

Facility condition and housekeeping are described unevenly. Several reviewers praise clean, bright common areas, a pleasant courtyard, and thorough housekeeping; others raise sanitation and pest-control concerns in certain rooms and day areas, along with odor concerns. There are also repeated notes about deferred maintenance in parts of the building — especially in the memory-care wing — including paint, blinds, and furniture repairs, and an active construction program that management says will address improvements.

Management and operational stability emerge as an important pattern. Positive stories include caring, communicative admissions staff and administrators who facilitate smooth moves. Conversely, a number of accounts describe leadership turnover, inconsistent administration, and poor responsiveness to family inquiries. More serious claims raised in a limited number of accounts include allegations of theft and financial mishandling and concerns following a resident's death and subsequent legal involvement; these are isolated but significant and merit direct inquiry. Other operational weaknesses include laundry and personal-property management lapses and inconsistent visitation practices.

Overall, the community shows clear strengths in person-centered caregiving, memory-care programming, and social engagement, but also exhibits operational inconsistencies across cleanliness, maintenance, food service, and administrative responsiveness. Recommended next steps for families considering this facility are to schedule an extended tour (including memory-care areas), ask for written policies on pest control, property and financial safeguards, staffing ratios and clinical oversight, recent inspection reports, and to seek references from current families. This will help determine whether the community's caregiving strengths align with your loved one’s safety and quality-of-life needs.

About The Residence at Pompano Beach

The Residence at Pompano Beach sits at 295 SW 4th Ave in a quiet, suburban part of Pompano Beach, Florida, and you'll notice right away that it's a single-story community, which is good for people who have trouble with stairs, and there are paved walkways winding through well-kept courtyards, gardens, and shaded areas, so residents and their visitors can enjoy a nice stroll or relax outdoors any time of day. The building has warm-toned siding and a simple layout, making it easy to find your way around, and the hallways are wide and well-lit for added safety.

This community offers different kinds of care-independent living for active adults, assisted living for those who need a hand with daily tasks, full nursing care with 24/7 nurse coverage, and specialized memory care for people with dementia or Alzheimer's. There are personalized care plans, especially for memory care patients, with routines and activities designed to help with memory and keep everyone as comfortable and safe as possible. You'll find a caring team of staff, including nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and memory care specialists who've been trained to work with people experiencing memory changes, and there's always someone around to help if a resident needs assistance walking, using a wheelchair, or managing medications. Each apartment or suite comes with a private bathroom, walk-in shower, safety features like emergency call systems and sprinklers, and there's housekeeping, cable TV, laundry, kitchens or kitchenettes, and friendly maintenance staff who keep everything running.

The amenities include dining rooms where residents eat together, fitness centers, a game and activity room, guest parking, Wi-Fi, and even pet-friendly policies, so someone can bring along a beloved animal for company. There's a range of social activities, from arts and crafts to health and wellness programs, as well as educational offerings and scheduled outings into the city, with transportation for appointments or errands. The Activities Directors plan monthly schedules filled with things to do, and the community works to get families involved too, which can help residents feel like they belong.

For those needing medical help, there's everything from podiatry and wound care to regular visits from nurses, as well as speech and occupational therapy, and medication management. Dining services offer restaurant-style meals with attention to nutrition and personal tastes, and the staff can help with things like dressing, bathing, and toileting. There's a lounge and themed rooms-like a Paris-themed suite-for people who want a space that feels a little special, along with comfortable communal spaces meant for gatherings and relaxation.

The whole place is built to keep residents safe, comfortable, and engaged, with a focus on privacy and respect for each person's needs. The Residence at Pompano Beach serves not only seniors from Pompano Beach but also families across Broward County and nearby areas, aiming to blend the convenience of city living with the peace of a tight-knit, quiet neighborhood. The staff is known for being cheerful and kind, and they keep the community feeling warm and welcoming every day.
