    Bright caring community highly recommend

I moved my mom into Sarabella and overall I'm very happy with the choice. The building is bright, spotless and modern, the gardens and courtyard are gorgeous, and the apartments feel roomy and home-like. Staff from the front desk to nursing and dining have been warm, attentive and efficient - great food, lots of activities (weekly entertainers, services, holiday menus), and in-house services that made the transition smooth and gave our family peace of mind. Leadership is engaged and accessible, which I appreciated. It's not perfect - we experienced some communication/staffing hiccups and a billing delay - but the caring staff and beautiful community make it highly recommendable.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the collected reviews is mixed but leans positive for many core aspects: staff, facility, dining and activities. The most frequently cited strengths are the caring, compassionate and attentive staff—many reviews name individual caregivers, nurses and front-desk team members as standout positives. Families repeatedly report that staff know residents by name, offer individualized attention, and provide strong emotional support, including highly praised end-of-life care. The building itself is consistently described as brand-new, bright, modern and clean with attractive outdoor spaces, gardens and a pleasant courtyard. Residents and families often highlight roomy apartments, a restaurant-like dining room, a range of in-house services (laundry, meds, therapy, on-site doctor), and amenities such as a spa, theater and library. The community is pet-friendly and offers transportation for outings, which reviewers see as valuable for maintaining independence and social engagement.

Dining and activities are prominent positive themes. Multiple reviewers praise restaurant-quality meals, frequent homemade soups, varied menus for holidays, and accommodating dining staff. The Life Enrichment and Activities teams receive strong praise for a broad calendar of offerings—art classes, bingo, movie nights, live entertainers, weekly outings, holiday celebrations, memory-care activities, and even themed events like Summer Olympics or after-dinner movies. Many families credit the activities program with keeping loved ones engaged and happy. Several reviews also note specialized supports such as routine health checks, hydration monitoring, and help with insurance and transitions.

Despite these strengths, there are consistent and sometimes serious concerns around staffing levels, clinical responsiveness and management communication. A recurring negative theme is understaffing and dependence on agency staff, which reviewers tie to inconsistent care, few nurses visible, and occasional lapses in basic services. Several reviews recount concrete clinical lapses: missed medications, declined care, delayed responses to changing health status, and at least one case where a resident with low oxygen and concerning symptoms required an emergency room visit for pneumonia and edema and later hospice care. In that specific incident reviewers state that the executive director and nursing director showed lack of empathy or dismissed concerns, while a nurse from an external Empath service did acknowledge the problem. Other reviews describe a delayed response that preceded a resident's death. These are serious patterns that some families felt compromised safety and trust.

Management and communication present a split picture. Many reviewers praise accessible, engaged directors and staff with open-door policies; others describe management as dismissive, hard-to-reach, or disrespectful, and cite examples of poor follow-through (maintenance or housekeeping problems, no apology, residents left unsupervised). Several reviewers mention billing and administrative issues including at least one substantial billing dispute (an alleged $4,500 overcharge with a delayed refund), rent increases that felt unacceptable, and inconsistent communication about package inclusions. Staff turnover and leadership changes are noted in multiple reviews; some see recent improvements as new leaders and an activities director settle in, while others remain frustrated by instability.

Operational issues extend into service consistency and value. A number of reviews call out repetitive or limited meal options in the evenings (sandwiches), and a few reviewers report minimal activities beyond social hours. Cleanliness is overwhelmingly described as excellent in most reports, but there are isolated complaints of urine smells and dirty restrooms. Several reviews highlight missed or delayed medication administration and instances where families felt care was declined. The combination of high pricing and occasional service shortfalls leads some reviewers to question value for money.

In sum, SaraBella Senior Living appears to offer a well-appointed, modern environment with many amenities, a strong social program, and numerous staff members who deliver compassionate, individualized care. These strengths provide peace of mind and satisfaction for many residents and families. However, the facility also shows notable variability in care quality and administrative responsiveness: understaffing, reliance on agency workers, communication breakdowns, clinical delays with serious consequences in a few cases, and billing/price concerns. Prospective residents and families should weigh the strong positives (facility, food, activities, many excellent staff) against the reported inconsistencies. If considering SaraBella, families may want to: (1) ask detailed questions about current staffing levels and nurse-to-resident ratios, (2) clarify clinical escalation protocols and examples of recent outcomes, (3) request documented service inclusions and billing policies up front, and (4) speak to multiple families and, if possible, clinical staff to verify consistency of care. These steps can help confirm whether the specific unit or team at SaraBella will meet the safety, communication and value expectations of a particular family.
