    Exceptional care, clean facility, attentive

I toured Pelican Garden and couldn't be happier - the staff are exceptionally caring, helpful, and attentive, the building and grounds are beautifully landscaped and very clean, and the rooms are large with excellent bathrooms and walk-in showers. The food is delicious, activities and outings are plentiful, transportation and appointments are well handled, and the small size means personalized attention from a responsive manager. I strongly recommend Pelican Garden for the care of a loved one.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries for Pelican Garden is strongly positive. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize cleanliness, well-kept grounds, and an attractive, landscaped property with pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. The facility's smaller size is frequently cited as a major asset — reviewers note a close-knit, welcoming community where residents receive personalized attention and build rapport with staff. Multiple statements specifically praise caring, attentive, and devoted staff as well as management that is responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Several reviewers explicitly say they would recommend Pelican Garden and describe happy residents and satisfied families.

Care quality and staffing emerge as prominent strengths. Many reviewers describe excellent care, staff that goes above and beyond, and a manager/administrator who is caring and involved. The small community size appears to facilitate individualized attention and good communication between staff, residents, and families. That said, a few reviews mention staffing shortages, which suggests there may be times when coverage is tight; this is not the dominant theme, but it is a recurring concern to note.

Facilities and accommodations receive consistent praise. Rooms are described as large, well-maintained, and having excellent bathrooms with walk-in showers. Common spaces and multiple seating areas — including outdoor seating and front-entrance seating — are appreciated. The layout is generally considered open and pleasant, though a minority of reviewers mention privacy concerns tied to the open plan and the absence of private kitchens. Several reviews explicitly point out that resident rooms lack a private kitchen and that there are restrictions on major appliances, which prospective residents should consider depending on their needs and preferences.

Dining and transportation are strong positives. The on-site meal service is frequently lauded: reviewers call the food delicious, cite good menu variety, and praise the dining room atmosphere. Transportation for doctor's appointments is provided and noted as a practical and helpful service. Reviewers also appreciate that the facility operates on a fixed monthly rate with no surprise charges, which contributes to a sense of financial transparency.

Activities and social life are highlighted as meaningful contributors to resident satisfaction. A wide range of programming is mentioned across reviews — sing-alongs, bingo, card games, movie nights, bus trips, and other outings — and many residents are described as actively participating and enjoying social opportunities. A couple of reviews note limitations in participation for some residents, suggesting that while programming is ample, individual mobility or health issues may affect access for particular residents.

Concerns to weigh include availability and safety notes. Pelican Garden appears to be in demand (waiting list mentioned), which is a positive indicator of reputation but also means prospective residents may face a delay. A few reviews reference falls and hospitalizations; while these comments are not widespread, they are important safety-related points for families to inquire about during a tour. The facility’s more isolated location relative to downtown was also mentioned, which may matter for families who want frequent access to city amenities.

In summary, Pelican Garden is presented as a small, clean, and well-run community with a strong, caring staff, high-quality meals, robust activities, attractive grounds, and large private rooms with good bathrooms. The primary trade-offs are the lack of in-room kitchens and appliance restrictions, occasional staffing shortages, some privacy concerns in an open layout, and limited availability due to a waiting list. Prospective residents and families should appreciate the facility’s personalized care and community feel, and should follow up on staffing patterns, safety records (falls/hospitalizations), and timing of availability during a tour or conversation with management.

    About Pelican Garden

Pelican Garden sits in a warm Florida-style building with over 20,000 square feet of senior housing, surrounded by a peaceful walkway, lush landscaping with vibrant hibiscus, and a tropical courtyard garden full of Florida birds and flowers, and it really offers the kind of quiet, easy living that some folks are looking for when they need a little help with their days, though it's got a secure front entrance with white columns that feels inviting in its own way. The place has different kinds of care-assisted living, home health, nursing, rehabilitation, memory care for dementia or Alzheimer's, adult day care, and even hospice and respite care services if someone only needs short-term help or extra comfort. Meals come through several ways, including restaurant style dining, room service, and a variety of diet options to fit nearly any need, and those big, bright dining spaces with round tables and natural light help bring people together for food and conversation, with weekly menus and even kosher, vegan, vegetarian, low sugar, low salt, and gluten-free choices.

Private and companion rooms can be furnished or unfurnished, most have private bathrooms with extra-large baths and big closets, cable television, and WiFi included, while floor plans cover both private and semi-private layouts, each offering either a sitting area or shared living spaces, and everything has an emergency call system in case someone needs help quickly. The property has a card and game room, a cozy library nook with sunlight, a residents lounge, and internet throughout, plus regular housekeeping, laundry, and complete linen service are part of the monthly rate, which some folks find comforting since there's no nickel-and-diming for the basics.

Outdoors, people can take morning walks to the fountain, stop and listen to the water or watch for birds, tend the red flowers in the garden, or stroll on landscaped walkways when the weather feels good, and if someone wants to get out, there's a specially equipped bus for outings and trips that gets used for planned activities and devotional services. Inside, activities run daily and cover gardening, trivia, karaoke, stretching classes, pet programs, and more, all designed to keep folks involved, entertained, and connected-something that becomes more important with age.

Staff are around all hours of the day and night, with experience in both supervisory care and more hands-on help like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, medication management, diabetic care, incontinence support, and all those basic needs that can get harder with age; they've even got medication technicians, a medical director who's a nurse practitioner, visiting healthcare professionals like nurses and therapists, and an interdisciplinary team for hospice care, which can help manage pain and honor residents' wishes with dignity. The building has controlled access for safety, transportation options including parking for residents, and monitoring and reminders for people with memory concerns.

Pelican Garden provides different levels of care-light for folks who just need a watchful eye, medium for those needing a bit more hands-on help, and support for those at risk of wandering or acting out, and residents can stay as their care needs grow. The community makes room for independence as much as possible, but doesn't shrug off the small details, handling laundry, meals, activities, and regular wellness checks, so people can truly focus on enjoying their time-with supportive staff, friendly faces, a relaxed garden setting, and comfortable, practical rooms to return to each evening.
