    Friendly caring safe social community

I chose this community after visiting others and I'm very happy. The staff are friendly, caring and always willing to help, which gives me peace of mind with a 24-hour desk, night security, pull cords and regular safety checks. My independent, affordable apartment is well-kept and centrally located, with laundry, library, computer room, lots of activities (bingo, cards, movie/concert nights, shuffleboard) and a bus for outings - a great place to make social connections. A few maintenance issues remain (occasional elevator problems and some mold damage from past hurricanes), but overall I love living here.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with frequent praise for the staff, safety features, community atmosphere, and affordability. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as friendly, hardworking, helpful, and responsive. Many comments emphasize pleasant interactions and a caring attitude from employees, which contributes to residents and families feeling comfortable and safe. Specific operational supports such as a 24-hour desk, night security, pull cords, and regular safety checks were highlighted as providing peace of mind.

The facility’s social life and activities are a clear strength. Multiple reviewers mention a wide variety of organized programs — bingo, card games, movie nights, concert nights, shuffleboard and other activities — that help residents form social connections and stay engaged. The presence of a bus for outings further supports an active lifestyle and adds to the facility’s appeal. Reviewers also note on-site amenities like a laundry room, library, and computer room that support independence and daily living.

Affordability and the independent-apartment model are recurrent positive themes. Several reviews call out the sliding-scale rent as a meaningful benefit, and many describe Philip Benjamin Tower as a beautiful, safe, and independent community where residents enjoy living. The central location and ease of making referrals also appear in the feedback, suggesting the facility is well integrated into the local service network. Comments such as 'mom enjoys living here' and other personal endorsements reinforce the overall high satisfaction.

The main negative themes are limited but consistent: building maintenance issues have been reported, notably elevator problems and mold after hurricanes, and some reviewers say parts of the facility 'need work.' These concerns appear to be more about specific maintenance or damage events than about everyday operations, but they are important. At least a few reviews explicitly mention mold related to hurricane damage and intermittent elevator issues, indicating these are tangible problems that management should track and address proactively.

Management and operations receive mostly positive remarks because of responsiveness and helpful staff, but the maintenance-related complaints suggest an area for improvement. Reviewers praise daily front-line staff and security, yet the building infrastructure and post-storm remediation are the primary weaknesses called out. Finally, the reviews do not provide details about dining services; there is no consistent commentary on food quality, meal service, or dining facilities in the provided summaries, so no conclusion can be drawn on that dimension from these reviews.

In summary, Philip Benjamin Tower is portrayed as an affordable, well-staffed independent-living community with strong social programming, useful on-site amenities, and meaningful safety provisions. Resident and family testimonials emphasize staff kindness and responsiveness, contributing to a high level of satisfaction. The most significant issues to monitor are building maintenance items—particularly elevator reliability and mold remediation following storms—which, if addressed, would further strengthen an already positive resident experience.
