    Good rehab but staffing concerns

I placed my mom here for rehab and many staff were caring, attentive, and helped her make real progress - the facility is clean, welcoming, and therapy is excellent. That said, phone/front-desk professionalism and communication were inconsistent, night shifts sometimes unresponsive, and meals often cold. I also saw worrying reports of missed meds, hygiene lapses and infections for some residents, so stay vigilant. Good rehab and compassionate day staff, but staffing and management issues can affect care.

About Sandy Springs Center for Nursing and Healing

Sandy Springs Center for Nursing and Healing sits as a single-story skilled nursing facility with 165 certified beds, usually serving about 147 residents each day, and the building has private and shared rooms, including studios, so folks using wheelchairs, walkers, or those who are bedbound can get the accommodations they need without feeling crowded, and you'll see the rooms have private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, cable TV, telephones, and Wi-Fi so people feel comfortable, with some rooms already furnished. The community runs under Empire Care Centers LLC and has been managed by Ephraim Nussbaum since May 2022. Residents have choices, eating in a dining room that feels like a restaurant, with healthy meals made by a professional chef, and all-day dining helps folks eat when they want, plus there's plenty of allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly options. There's a regular setup of movie nights, games in the activity room, a game room, a library, and music and arts areas, so people can stay social and busy if they want, and there are outdoor walking paths, a garden, and spa and fitness rooms, plus beauty services for those who enjoy them, and family support means loved ones can stay involved. With laundry, dry cleaning, move-in help, and regular housekeeping, people can settle in without too much worry about chores.

Residents get skilled nursing care around the clock, including help with bathing, dressing, medications, wound care, diabetes management, and memory care for those who need it, and the facility supports those who are very frail or need help moving, with intermediate and non-ambulatory care, restorative care, and programs to help get folks back on their feet after a hospital stay or to provide longer-term support for those with more complex needs, and there's specialized attention for hospice, palliative, and respite care too. The staff works on making personalized plans and keeping everyone safe with a 24-hour alert system and supervision. People who come for short-term rehab between hospital and home can get therapy and care, and the therapy staff stays positive and caring. Sandy Springs Center accepts Medicaid and Medicare, helping families with costs, and the place is known for its "treat residents like family" approach that shows in its programs, meals, and focus on helping everyone feel welcome.

While inspections have shown some issues with infection control and food sourcing in the past, management works on improving the standards, and the nurse-to-resident hour rate sits slightly below the state average, while nurse turnover is a bit higher than other places, but Sandy Springs Center continues to provide a wide set of care services, wellness programs, and support, with transportation and parking for visitors, and a focus on making the environment both safe and inviting, so folks needing long-term care, memory care, or a home between hospital and home can find support and a community feel here.
