    Loving professional care improved mom

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased - a beautiful, well-maintained, homey community with private rooms, great food, and abundant, engaging activities that helped her become more social and lifted her mood. The caregivers are loving, professional, and attentive (Jenna is a godsend); staff and management go above and beyond and supported us through a rough COVID start. I'm grateful and would highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The aggregate of reviews paints Sunny Grove Assisted Living | Assisted Living & Memory Care as a highly regarded, homelike community with overwhelmingly positive feedback about staff, programming, and the physical environment. Most reviewers emphasize an environment that feels like home — cozy common areas, comfortable seating by a fireplace, rockers on the back porch, and well-kept, attractive rooms. The dominant sentiment is that the facility is a caring, organized, and resident-centered community where leadership and direct-care staff are visible, engaged, and responsive.

Care quality and staff: The most frequently cited strength is the staff — described repeatedly as compassionate, professional, well-trained, and attentive. Many reviewers single out specific staff members (for example, Jenna in one summary) and praise the caregiving team, activities director, and kitchen staff for being positive, helpful, and willing to work through issues. Multiple comments note staff who treat residents like family and who go above and beyond to support both residents and their families. Management and ownership are portrayed as hands-on and in tune with resident needs, contributing to a sense of trust and stability. While most descriptions are highly positive about care quality, one review is a notable outlier that described a lack of care; this suggests that although the dominant pattern is strong, there may be rare instances of unacceptable experiences or mismatched expectations.

Facilities and atmosphere: Reviewers consistently mention the facility’s attractive and well-maintained physical environment. Positive details include large common areas, cozy touches such as chairs by the fireplace and rockers on the back porch, clean and beautiful rooms, and an organized community layout. Several reviewers state that their loved ones love their apartments and describe the community as a "hidden gem." The environment is repeatedly characterized as warm, welcoming, and family-like, which reviewers tie directly to resident wellbeing and satisfaction.

Activities and engagement: Activities receive high praise in multiple summaries. Reviewers report an abundant and engaging schedule, including programming noted to be aligned with brain health research, which many feel contributes to increased socialization and improved moods among residents. Day outings and social opportunities are cited as enhancing resident quality of life. Several families attribute a tangible improvement in their loved ones’ sociability and emotional state to the activity offerings and staff engagement.

Dining and support services: Food and kitchen staff are frequently commended; reviewers mention delicious meals and especially enjoy the coffee. The overall impression is that dining and day-to-day services are reliable and pleasant, contributing to the homelike atmosphere. Combined praise of kitchen staff and activities programming suggests a comprehensive approach to resident engagement and comfort.

Management, consistency, and concerns: Leadership and management receive strong, positive mentions — described as top-notch and visible — which reviewers credit with maintaining quality and responsiveness. However, there are a few recurring caveats to note: a couple of summaries reference an initial rough start for some residents, and the COVID-19 lockdowns were called out as a challenging period that affected some residents’ transitions and social engagement. Most reviewers emphasize that staff were willing to address and work through issues, but the presence of at least one strongly negative review that described a lack of care indicates that prospective families should confirm current staffing consistency, policies, and references during their evaluation.

Overall assessment and patterns: The prevailing pattern across reviews is one of high satisfaction — particularly regarding staff compassion, resident engagement through activities, a comfortable homelike facility, and responsive management. Repeated themes are staff who treat residents like family, engaging activities (including brain-health–focused programming), good food, and a clean, attractive setting. The main cautionary signals are limited: an initial adjustment period for some residents, pandemic-related restrictions that temporarily affected operations, and a solitary but strong negative report. For someone considering Sunny Grove, the reviews suggest a community with strong personal care and programming where most families feel supported and see improvements in their loved ones’ wellbeing, while also advising due diligence to ensure current care consistency and fit for an individual’s needs.
