    Clean facility, caring staff, recommended

I'm very pleased with the clean, home-like, newly renovated facility and its small, non-overwhelming community. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive - nurses check in around the clock, meal assistance and hospice support have been excellent - and my loved one is happier and more social. There are nice common spaces and activities, but memory care is limited/not a fit (some units lack snacks/bells). Cost and some uncommunicated fees/furniture requirements are a concern, but overall I would recommend this place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews of Big Springs Village Assisted Living and Memory Care is predominantly positive, with frequent praise focused on staff, cleanliness, community size, and recent facility improvements. Reviewers repeatedly highlight that staff are friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, and responsive — many cite excellent communication from the care team, reassurance during transitions, and accommodating behavior to meet individual resident needs. Several reviewers specifically note 24/7 nursing checks, strong hospice support, and caregivers who help with meal assistance, which speaks to a higher-touch clinical and personal-care presence for many residents. There are multiple references to residents becoming more social and engaged after moving in, suggesting successful social integration for new residents.

Facilities and environment receive consistently favorable comments. The community is described as clean, well-kept, and undergoing renovations that are improving the physical environment; reviewers mention comfortable common areas, attractive dining spaces, and pleasant grounds. The small, intimate scale of the community is repeatedly framed as a benefit — it feels home-like and less overwhelming than larger facilities. Several visitors and family members reported positive tour experiences and said the facility "felt like the right place." The affiliation with a sister community (Seven Hills Place) is noted and seen as a positive point by some families.

Activity offerings and social life are generally viewed positively, with "lots of activities" and a lively atmosphere reported by many. However, there are some unit-specific concerns: a few reviews mention a need for more snack opportunities or additional activities specifically in the Memory Care unit. Dining receives mixed but mostly acceptable feedback — multiple reviewers said meals were "no complaints" or "good," while a minority described the food as merely "okay." Room size is noted by several reviewers as smaller than some alternatives; the consensus is that rooms are adequate but compact.

Management and administration are usually praised for being helpful and communicative, with leadership interactions reflected positively. That said, there are notable concerns about transparency and billing: at least one review specifically warns about an uncommunicated furniture requirement and a price increase that was not clearly explained, leading that family to not recommend the community. Staffing levels are another area with mixed reports — while many accounts describe well-staffed, attentive caregivers, there are isolated reports of understaffing and "few activities" in certain units or shifts. COVID-19 pandemic challenges are mentioned as part of the context for some families, and a few reviewers reference past "bumps" that have since been addressed or are in the process of being improved.

Memory care availability and fit is a recurring theme that potential residents and families should note: some reviewers explicitly said the facility lacked a suitable Memory Care option or that it was not an appropriate fit for their needs, while others living in memory-support settings appreciated staff attentiveness but still requested more snacks/activities. Practical concerns raised include absence of call bells in some rooms, occasional issues with transparency around extra costs or policies, and the disruption of ongoing renovations. Despite these concerns, the dominant pattern across reviews is high satisfaction: many families would recommend Big Springs Village, remarking on the caring staff, cleanliness, comfortable common spaces, and a generally reassuring, community-oriented atmosphere.
