    Caring staff, clean comfortable facility

I placed my dad here and have been very pleased. The older building is well cared for and clean, rooms were ready and comfortable. The care team is exceptional - compassionate nurses and CNAs, very responsive administration and social work, and an outstanding PT/OT program that improved mobility quickly. Activities are engaging, meals nutritious, and the community feels family-like. I highly recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Fairburn Health Care Center presents a mixed picture across reviews. Strengths consistently cited include a robust rehabilitation program โ€” many families highlighted effective physical, occupational, and speech therapy with frequent sessions and good functional gains โ€” and an engaging activities program led by a dedicated activity director. Several reviewers praised individual caregivers, CNAs, therapists, and the social work team as compassionate and family-oriented; administration has been described as responsive and approachable, with an open-door policy and an active resident council that supports engagement.

Clinical quality and staff performance show variability. While some caregivers and shifts are described as attentive and professional, there are recurring complaints about inconsistent staffing levels and slow response times to call bells, particularly outside daytime hours. Reviews describe delays in attending to acute needs and examples of delayed triage or hospital transfers; these suggest gaps in incident-response protocols and escalation pathways. There are also multiple indications of inconsistent medication administration and pain-management practices, and concerns about pressure-injury prevention and incontinence-care processes that families found troubling.

Operationally, the facility appears to be in transition: some units have been freshly painted and rooms noted as orderly, but the building is older and several reviewers cited deferred maintenance such as worn flooring. Sanitation and pest-control concerns were raised for some areas, and inventory controls appear inconsistent โ€” families reported missing personal items and clothing. Food quality was described inconsistently across reviews, ranging from adequate/nutritious to low-quality or small portions. Visitation policies have at times been restrictive, which affected family access during infection-control periods and other policy changes.

Management and training are areas of mixed feedback. Many reviewers commended improved leadership, an involved administrator, and attentive social work that facilitated smooth admissions and care planning. Conversely, there are recurring comments about variable staff professionalism and training, and serious individual claims exist (including an allegation regarding staff credentials) that families felt required investigation. Communication with families and the process for resolving grievances were also noted as uneven โ€” some families experienced responsive follow-up, while others felt their concerns were not adequately addressed.

In summary, Fairburn Health Care Center offers notable strengths in rehabilitation services, engaging activities, and pockets of compassionate, family-focused care. However, prospective residents and families should be aware of patterns indicating inconsistent staffing responsiveness, operational and training gaps, sanitation and maintenance needs, and variability in food and property-security controls. Those considering the facility would benefit from focused inquiries about staffing during off hours, incident-response protocols, pressure-injury prevention practices, pest-control measures, and how the facility documents and resolves family concerns.
