    Caring staff and clean home

I'm grateful we chose Legacy Ridge - the staff are genuinely caring, professional, and know residents by name (Director Langston and Lifestyle Director Jamie go above and beyond). The renovated, clean facility feels like home, the meals are delicious, and daily activities and outings keep everyone engaged; I have peace of mind and highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews for PruittPlace - Kennesaw is mixed but leans positive for the Assisted Living side and community features while raising significant and recurring concerns specifically about the Memory Care unit and some operational consistency. Many reviewers consistently praise the staff—describing them as warm, caring, and family-like—and highlight individualized attention, frequent engagement, and a true sense of community. Several people explicitly call the place a “home,” noting staff who know residents and families by name, long-tenured employees, and leadership or coordinators (for example, a highly praised Lifestyle Director) who create a welcoming, resident-centered atmosphere.

Care quality: For assisted living residents, the dominant theme is competent and compassionate direct care. Multiple reports mention 24-hour caregivers, an on-site nurse, med techs and supportive clinical coordination, which give families peace of mind. Several reviewers emphasize a seamless transition for new residents, good medication administration, responsive staff, and strong hospice coordination. However, a substantial subset of reviews flags important problems: missed medications, episodes where residents were not checked on, and reports of care decline over time. These concerns are not universal but are serious where reported and appear to be associated with staff shortages or management availability issues in particular cases.

Memory Care: Memory Care emerges as the most problematic area in the reviews. Numerous reviewers describe understaffing, untrained staff, high turnover, and safety incidents including falls, bruises, wandering, and even escapes from the secure unit. Complaints include dirty rooms, loss of personal items, and apparent lack of follow-up or action plans after incidents. These reports contrast sharply with the positive descriptions of assisted living and suggest that families should exercise caution and seek detailed, current information about staffing levels, training, incident history, and safety protocols before placing a loved one with dementia or high behavioral needs.

Staff and management: Staff are overwhelmingly noted as the facility’s greatest strength—kind, engaging, and proactive in creating activities and personal connections. Families repeatedly use words like “compassionate,” “went above and beyond,” and “like family.” Several leadership figures (both positive and negative) are mentioned by name across reviews: some families praise administrators and concierge/clinical staff for responsiveness, while others report defensiveness or lack of follow-through from certain managers. This mixed picture indicates that experience can vary depending on which staff or leaders are involved and that management responsiveness has been inconsistent in some cases.

Facilities, cleanliness, and amenities: The physical building is frequently described as renovated, attractive, and well-maintained with light, spacious common areas, high ceilings, and garden views. Studio apartments are characterized as large and comfortable, though reviewers repeatedly note that studios may be small or impractical for couples (requiring two studios). Dining receives many compliments—nutritious, well-prepared meals with multiple entree choices and a deli option—and several reviewers describe the dining as restaurant-quality. Seasonal decorations, frequent celebrations, and a robust calendar of activities contribute to a home-like, festive environment for many residents.

Activities and community life: Activities and outings are a clear highlight. Reviewers note an extensive and varied programming schedule (including atypical outings), daily activities, weekly outings, and regular family events. The Lifestyle Director is singled out in multiple reviews for exceptional engagement and creativity (e.g., special feasts, festivals, and parties). These offerings support social connection and family inclusion, and many reviewers say this programming materially improves quality of life for residents.

Operational and administrative concerns: Several reviewers report operational problems ranging from billing and Medicare notification issues to reliance on clinical staff to cover housekeeping when cleaning staff are reduced. There are also reports of inconsistent communication, delayed information requests, and occasional unavailability of executive leadership. While many families experience transparent and responsive administration, these administrative lapses have contributed to negative outcomes for others.

Patterns and recommendations: The pattern across reviews suggests PruittPlace - Kennesaw is often an excellent fit for residents needing assisted living-level services who benefit from a small, community-oriented setting, strong programming, appealing meals, and caring staff. However, families should be cautious and perform thorough due diligence when considering Memory Care placement. Recommended inquiries before placement: current Memory Care staffing ratios, staff training for dementia care, incident and fall history and follow-up procedures, medication administration and audit processes, housekeeping policies (including lost-item protocols), leadership turnover, and how the facility communicates with families during incidents. Ask for recent references from families of Memory Care residents and, if possible, request a meeting with the Memory Care leadership and a walkthrough of secure areas and documentation of recent staffing metrics.

Bottom line: Many reviewers report loving, attentive care, a warm and well-kept environment, outstanding meals and activities, and a strong sense of community—especially in assisted living. At the same time, repeated, serious concerns about Memory Care safety, staffing, and management consistency warrant careful scrutiny. Prospective residents and families should weigh the clear strengths of the assisted living program and community life against the documented risks in Memory Care, and should seek current, detailed operational information and references before making a placement decision.
