    Caring clean family-run nursing home

I placed my mother here and have been very pleased - the staff are consistently caring, attentive and professional, with a dedicated nursing/rehab team and thorough billing support. Rooms and public areas are clean, personalized, well lit and comfortably climate-controlled; wide hallways, secure rails and large bathrooms make daily life easy. Good meals, plenty of activities and a warm family-run, countryside atmosphere make this a solid choice, overall excellent with small room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Oaks Nursing Home is portrayed consistently as a small, family-operated facility with strong strengths in staffing, cleanliness, and resident comfort. Reviews emphasize a caring atmosphere supported by attentive caregivers and a dedicated nursing/rehab team. Physical spaces and environmental controls are described positively, contributing to a generally comfortable living environment.

Care and staff: Care quality is presented as a primary strength. Staff are characterized as attentive, pleasant, and caring, with good morale and sufficient staffing levels to meet routine needs. The presence of a dedicated nursing and rehabilitation team suggests the facility can support short-term rehab and ongoing clinical needs; reviewers also noted thorough billing and financial support handled by management, which can ease family interactions around cost and paperwork.

Dining and activities: Dining receives favorable mentions for nutrition and meal quality. The facility maintains a calendar of activities and provides ample programming, which residents are described as enjoying. This combination of regular social engagement and consistent meal service contributes to resident contentment and a home-like atmosphere.

Facilities and safety: The physical plant is described as clean and well maintained. Common areas and private rooms are kept tidy, laundry service is reliable, hallways are wide and well lit, and safety features such as secure grab rails are in place. Rooms are personalized and temperatures are kept comfortable, which supports resident dignity and comfort. The property’s countryside location is noted as a positive for families seeking a quieter setting.

Management and notable patterns: Management appears hands-on and family-run, with explicit support for billing and financial questions. The overall pattern across reviews is one of high satisfaction and recommendations for prospective residents. The most consistent operational limitation cited is the small size of resident rooms and the overall compact facility scale; this may translate into more modest private-space dimensions and a smaller campus footprint compared with larger nursing centers. Prospective residents and families should weigh the trade-off between personalized, attentive care in a smaller, home-like setting and the desire for larger private rooms or broader on-site amenities.

    About The Oaks Nursing Home

The Oaks Nursing Home has served seniors in Middle Georgia since 1956 and the Windham family has always owned and operated it, making it a fixture in the community for over 65 years, and while people sometimes call it Middle Georgia's premier nursing facility, what stands out are the practical things, like the care levels offered under one roof-skilled nursing, personal care, memory care, and independent apartments, plus in-home care for those who need it. The main building holds 60 skilled nursing, rehab, and memory care beds, and they've got 12 private personal care rooms along with 3 independent living apartments right there, so folks can find the help that fits them best. There's 24-hour nursing care overseen by a physician, and Dr. Cristopher R. Inhulsen, M.D. is the Medical Director, while Dr. Richard Chase also serves as an attending physician, and the nursing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants are always nearby, helping with activities like bathing, eating, dressing, keeping up with medications, and managing care for those who can't live on their own anymore. Care plans get made for each resident and the staff meets federal standards for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, which helps families with payment options, and they do take Medicaid for eligible residents plus some long-term care insurance, and they also help folks who qualify for Veterans Aid & Attendance benefits-though coverage doesn't always include everything. There's an in-house therapy program covering physical, speech, and occupational therapy, while visiting healthcare staff come each week and stay on call day and night. Every resident room is single occupancy, which gives privacy, and each comes in a different size and look. Shared spaces, like a furnished dining area and common room, give room to socialize or relax. Meal service brings three meals and snacks every day, and there's a meal planner plus an activities calendar so there's always something going on. The building has things that make life a bit easier and more comfortable, like a nurse call system, wireless internet, a beauty parlor, housekeeping, and laundry. When needed, the staff can set up emergency hospital transfers, and the facility meets health care institution standards as required for Medicare and Medicaid. Every new resident gets assessed before moving in to make sure the placement's right, and if someone's needs change, they can move to a different care level within the community with priority access. The Oaks Nursing Home keeps its inspection records up to date, with a recent report showing zero deficiencies, which shows attention to detail. Over the years, the place has always stayed plain and focused on resident needs, and while they don't claim to be perfect, they do take care to make sure people are looked after, safe, and as comfortable as possible for as long as they call The Oaks home.
