    Cruise ship style resort living

I live here and love the cruise-ship-style vibe - bright, clean, resort-like spaces with huge amenities (theater, gym, spa, game and craft rooms), roomy, fully equipped apartments with patios and in-unit washers, and chef-quality, flexible dining 24/7. Staff are warm, attentive and engaging (Anthony and Leo stand out), activities and social life are nonstop, and the all-inclusive pricing makes it easy to join the community. It's pricey and I've seen occasional management/communication and service delays, but overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall impression Vickery Rose Retirement Resort receives predominantly positive feedback for its physical campus, dining program, activity offerings, and the warmth of its staff and resident community. Many reviewers describe a resort- or cruise-ship–like atmosphere: bright, modern common areas, an open-air atrium with waterfall, extensive social spaces (theatre, library, card rooms, arcade), and high-end touches such as an on-site chef, ice cream and popcorn machines, and a 24/7 snack station. Apartments are repeatedly described as roomy and well appointed (full kitchens, GE appliances, walk-in showers, in-unit washer/dryer, patios/balconies), and residents often praise the variety and flexibility of meal service (anytime dining, Prime Rib Sundays, multiple dining venues). The campus layout, grounds, and transportation options (on-site bus for shopping, proximity to retail) are viewed favorably by many families and residents.

Staff, care culture, and community life The strongest and most consistent positive theme is the staff and daily community life. Reviews highlight friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic team members and low staff turnover, which fosters familiarity and continuity of care. Specific managers are commended by name (Anthony, Leo, Mary Kate), and multiple comments note that management and staff go above and beyond to help residents acclimate. The activity program is robust and varied—mind-body-spirit offerings, clubs (book club, puzzle groups), exercise classes, frequent celebrations, and intergenerational events that welcome grandchildren—leading many reviewers to describe the community as lively and socially engaging. Several reviewers credit Vickery Rose with transforming a resident’s quality of life through social engagement and spirited programming.

Dining and amenities Dining is a central highlight: reviewers frequently emphasize the quality, presentation, and variety of meals, the availability of anytime dining and unlimited meal options, and the willingness of kitchen staff to accommodate preferences. The overall dining experience is likened to cruise-line dining, and descriptions of a chef-driven program, special menus (e.g., Prime Rib Sundays), and both casual and fine-dining options appear multiple times. The facility amenities also receive strong praise—large movie theatre, gym and spa, general store, pharmacy access, social rooms (billiards, crafts, library), and attractive grounds. For families seeking an upscale, amenity-rich community, these features are repeatedly cited as a primary draw.

Operational and management concerns Despite many strong endorsements, a notable cluster of negative reports centers on operational and management issues. Several reviewers report delayed deliveries (washer/dryer), housekeeping scheduling problems, and poor or inconsistent communication from management. There are also more serious allegations in a few reviews involving privacy invasion and inappropriate staff conduct (unauthorized entry into apartments, a housekeeper acting as a realtor, attempted sharing of sensitive bank information) that prompted at least one family to move out after a short stay. These reports, while less frequent than positive comments, are significant because they relate to safety, trust, and accountability.

Value, pricing, and consistency Perceptions of value vary. Many reviewers call the all-inclusive pricing a strong value given the quality of food, activities, and amenities, but cost is named as a concern by multiple people—described as expensive or overpriced for some prospective residents. Additional fees (storage, paint/finish charges, or other incidental costs) are mentioned, which suggests buyers should closely review the contract for extra charges. There are also mixed accounts about consistency—some residents describe spotless cleanliness and prompt service, while others report cleanliness problems or decline in food quality over time. This inconsistency indicates that individual experiences may vary depending on unit, timing, or how well specific staff areas are managed.

Location and physical environment Most reviewers like the location—described as secluded yet accessible, with scenic walking paths and proximity to shopping—although a few note busy street traffic or lack of views for particular apartments. Outdoor amenities like a pathway around a small lake and attractive gardens are appreciated, but some reviewers wished for more outdoor walking paths. The building’s design, bright decor, and cruise-like ambiance are repeatedly praised and contribute strongly to resident satisfaction.

Bottom-line recommendation and cautions In summary, Vickery Rose offers a high-amenity, socially active, and well-staffed environment that many residents and families find transformative and deeply satisfying. Strengths include the dining program, abundant activities, modern facilities, and a caring staff culture. However, prospective residents should perform careful due diligence around operational reliability and management practices: ask detailed questions about response times and communication protocols, verify promised move-in timelines and appliance delivery windows in writing, get clarity on additional fees and billing practices, and inquire about incident reporting and privacy protections. Given the few but serious negative reports, it’s prudent to speak with current residents, review the contract carefully, and confirm which managers will be onsite. That approach will help determine whether Vickery Rose’s many strengths align with an individual’s priorities and tolerance for the occasional operational inconsistency.

    About Vickery Rose Retirement Resort

Vickery Rose Retirement Resort stands in Roswell, Georgia, with a three-story building and a warm, small community feel where staff and residents know each other by name, which makes it feel familiar and welcoming. Apartments come in different sizes-you'll find studios, one, two, or three-bedroom options, with floor plans ranging from about 566 to 1206 square feet, each with full-size kitchens, custom cabinets, washer and dryer hook-ups, and walk-in closets, and many apartments have balconies or decks so residents can enjoy some fresh air. The community welcomes those aged 55 and up, and the pet-friendly policy means residents can have pets with no extra fee, which is something a lot of people appreciate because having a pet can make a place feel more like home.

Meals are included, since the Freedom Dining program gives everyone three chef-prepared meals a day and offers several dining options, including a formal dining room, a casual buffet, a chef's pantry, or room service if someone doesn't feel up to going out. For residents who need some extra help, there are assisted living services with personal support for daily tasks, and skilled nursing care is available for folks who need it, along with separate memory care and respite care programs for people with Alzheimer's, dementia, or those recovering from injury or surgery. Safety is important here, and the building has 24/7 security, a staff presence at all times, and an emergency alert system in every apartment. Managers live on-site to offer support and handle anything that comes up, day or night.

Vickery Rose has a lot to do, both inside and out, for mind, body, and spirit, and there are always community events led by a Lifestyle Director, including group fitness classes, games in the billiards room, computer lessons, or movies in the 150-seat stadium theater. The indoors spaces-like the library, theater room, arcade, business center, spa, bar lounge, and fitness center-are modern and comfortable, while the grounds have landscaped gardens, a walking path, pond, and gazebo so residents can sit, walk, or chat with family under the trees. Transportation services help folks get to shopping and nearby restaurants if they want to go out. There's also a Resident Travel Program so residents can visit other Resort Lifestyle Communities across the country.

Amenities are all-inclusive: housekeeping, maintenance, Wi-Fi, cable, utilities, parking, and valet are part of the community's regular services. Residents can schedule hair, foot care, or therapy appointments, and get meals delivered if needed. The atmosphere is easy-going and friendly, with plenty of conversation areas where people gather-residents have the freedom to arrange their days as they like and decorate their homes to suit their taste, which is nice since a place doesn't always feel like home right away. Vickery Rose has a high community score of 9.5, with verified services, on-site management, and detailed photographs available for people who want to learn more. The community supports families by answering questions and encouraging them to stay involved. Vickery Rose is designed for people looking for independent living, assisted living, or continuing care in one spot, so as care needs change, residents can get the support they need without moving somewhere else. The community is clean, bright, and welcoming, and it's built around giving people choices about how they live each day.
