    Caring staff, clean grounds, pricey

I found the staff wonderfully caring and quick to help, the community very clean with beautiful grounds, excellent meals and plenty of activities in a single-level, homelike setting close to shopping and Emory. Apartments are on the small side and the pricing (plus extra care/meal/medication charges) is high; I also noted occasional communication, medication and management/safety concerns that deserve asking about. Overall I loved the caregivers and atmosphere - visit in person, but be sure to confirm costs, med management and leadership responsiveness.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is largely positive, with a clear majority of commenters praising the community for its strong food program, caring staff, cleanliness, and active lifestyle offerings. The dining experience is repeatedly highlighted as a signature strength. Many reviewers describe restaurant-quality meals prepared by an on-site chef, fresh ingredients, attractive presentation and garnishes, homemade soups and baking, and a variety of customizable menu options. The dining rooms are described as open, airy, and central to community life, with a social focus around meals that contributes to improved appetites and social engagement.

Staff and caregiving receive frequent commendation. Numerous reviews call staff friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. Families often note that caregivers treat residents like family, and that leadership and reception teams are welcoming and helpful. The presence of full-time nurses and 24/7 nursing availability is mentioned positively, and the PALS memory-care program is singled out as an outstanding component. Many reviewers report smooth move-ins, excellent housekeeping, proactive maintenance, and a generally supportive, homey atmosphere. The facility’s layout — a single-level, village-like campus with wide hallways, patios, fireside rooms, library, gym, and garden paths — is appreciated for its safety and accessibility.

Activities and programming are strong themes. Reviewers describe an extensive activities calendar including exercise classes, outings, musical events, movie nights, games, happy hour, Wii bowling, and regular social opportunities. These offerings are credited with creating engaged, relaxed, and happy residents. Several reviewers also note additional amenities such as cottages, multiple floor plans, laundry on each wing, and proximity to shopping and hospitals as practical conveniences that add to the community’s appeal.

Despite the many positives, there are notable and recurring concerns that families should weigh carefully. Cost is a dominant issue: many reviewers call the community expensive and point to extra charges for meal plans, higher-than-expected care-level fees, and additional hourly caregiver costs required after move-in. Several accounts describe disputes over initial assessments, unexpected upcharges, and even a refund disagreement over facility fees. Some reviewers perceive price gouging or aggressive increases, and a few households reported deciding to move because of cost.

Safety, clinical care, and consistency of staff quality are the other major areas of concern. While many families praise nursing and medication management, other reviews report serious safety incidents, including a scald injury and at least one situation described as potentially life-threatening and unresolved within the community. A small number of reviewers raised concerns about overmedication or sedation of residents and about the adequacy of first-aid or immediate clinical responses. Staff consistency is mixed: several reviews applaud long-tenured staff and stable leadership, but others describe turnover, new employees with less experience, and isolated staff members whose behavior led families to feel their loved one was not well supported.

Facility condition and community size also show mixed impressions. Some reviewers appreciate refreshed interiors, manicured grounds, and a homelike feeling, while others call the building older, dated, or smaller than competing communities. Apartments vary in size and furnishing, and some residents face extra costs for furniture or meal options. A few families experienced a lack of social interaction in smaller wings or at particular times, and some noted limitations such as no swimming pool or restrictive policies (for example gardening rules) that diminished their satisfaction.

In summary, Belmont Village Johns Creek earns strong marks for dining, friendly caregiving, cleanliness, and a robust activities program that fosters social life and engagement. The PALS memory-care program and 24/7 nursing support are important strengths for families needing higher levels of care. However, prospective residents and families should conduct detailed financial and clinical due diligence: clarify all fees and care-level pricing, ask about incident reporting and safety procedures, confirm staffing stability and training, and review memory-care security and freedom-of-movement policies. Readiness to escalate concerns to leadership and to obtain clear written estimates and refund policies will help mitigate the most commonly reported negatives. Experiences vary by wing, staff members, and timing, so an in-person tour, meeting with leadership and the care team, and conversations with current residents and families will provide the most complete picture for decision making.
