    Clean, caring, affordable senior community

My father loves it here. The facility is clean, cheerful, and recently refreshed; staff are caring, consistent, and clearly invested in residents' well-being with low turnover, a long-tenured manager, many volunteers, and a strong staff-to-resident ratio. Activities are engaging, meals are good, pricing is affordable, and management is supportive - overall a very good place to live that I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression is mixed: reviewers describe a visually appealing, well-kept community with engaged caregivers and a robust activities program, while also expressing operational concerns affecting clinical care, finances, and safety. The facility’s physical environment receives consistently positive comments — recent updates and a clean interior are frequently noted, and many families characterize the community as cheerful and supportive.

Care and clinical operations present a contrasting picture. Positive comments emphasize compassionate, attentive caregiving and a stable workforce with low turnover and long-tenured management. At the same time, several accounts raise concerns about clinical oversight: training gaps, a need for greater licensed-nurse involvement in medication administration, and issues with wound care and skin integrity. These items suggest variability in clinical practice and point to opportunities to strengthen nursing supervision and staff education.

Dining and daily life appear uneven. Some families describe meals and dining service positively, and activities programming is frequently highlighted as engaging and well-supported by volunteers. However, there are also notes of inconsistent food quality, indicating that dining experience may vary by meal or day. The active activities schedule and volunteer presence are clear strengths that support resident well-being and social engagement.

Financial and safety matters require attention. The facility’s payer acceptance and pricing model are a clear practical concern for prospective residents: limited Medicare acceptance and mixed comments on affordability mean families should review contract and billing details closely. Additionally, there are serious individual allegations of financial exploitation and broader concerns about environmental safety; these items are significant and warrant direct inquiry with the provider and review of any available incident resolution or regulatory documentation.

Management and staffing dynamics show both stability and areas for improvement. Leadership continuity, a high staff-to-resident ratio, and a reportedly supportive culture contribute to positive resident experiences in many accounts. Yet the noted training deficiencies and calls for stronger licensed-nurse oversight indicate the facility may benefit from targeted investments in clinical training, medication administration protocols, and safety audits. Prospective residents and families should tour the physical space, ask for specifics about nursing coverage, medication procedures, wound-care protocols, staff training programs, billing practices, and any recent corrective actions related to safety or financial concerns before making a placement decision.

    About Palouse Hills

Palouse Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care sits in the scenic hills of Moscow, Idaho at 1401 N Polk St and has room for up to 60 residents with studio and one-bedroom layouts, so residents can pick what fits their comfort and needs, and with hand-picked staff who know how to care for seniors, it's got somebody on-site 24 hours a day to help with everything from bathing, dressing, and medication management, to moving around or sorting out meals and laundry, with each resident getting help and care planned for their own situation and changes as they age or need more support. This facility focuses on assisted living for folks needing daily help but wanting to stay active and social, while its memory care section gives secure spaces and trained staff for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, and they even offer hospice options and help for chronic or incontinence needs as seniors age in place, all with a hospice and dementia care waiver for special support. The grounds have fire safety systems, wide doors, grab bars, wheelchair accessible showers and tubs, furnished rooms, and emergency alert systems, so it's a safer place for seniors, and the community backs this up with steady, long-serving staff and lots of volunteers, which means there are more hands to help and plenty of chances for socializing. Meals come through a dining room with professional chefs making nutritious meals, including gluten-free and diabetic diets, and people can get room service or all-day dining if they like eating on their own schedule; guest meals, snacks, and special diet choices are available too. The facility accepts long-term care insurance and offers board and care home services that suit small groups, with pricing estimates from $2,392 to $7,325 monthly, so families have a sense of what to expect when they're planning care.

Residents get to use washers and dryers, free high-speed internet, cable TV, WiFi, and community spaces like a TV lounge, game room, fireplace, movie nights, and arts and crafts center, along with a gym/fitness center, salon and barber shop, housekeeping, dry cleaning, and maintenance work done by on-site staff. There are outdoor spaces such as patios, raised garden beds, and walking paths for outings or activities under the hills' open sky, and it's not hard for people or their guests to park on site, with transport services on hand to help with doctor visits or errands around town since the place is close to bus lines. For social and spiritual health, Palouse Hills runs social, educational, arts, and wellness activities, devotional services, and a schedule that keeps residents engaged and active, with support for people at all levels of mobility, whether they need a walker or wheelchair or just some help with standing and transfers. Maintenance, move-in help, and scheduling appointments are part of the daily service, and medication management is taken care of alongside work with healthcare providers. Palouse Hills holds a high rating in town, with an average review score of 8.4 out of 10, and with its strong focus on safety, daily support, and a caring community that includes both active seniors and those living with Alzheimer's or dementia, many families find it fits a range of needs for elders living in Moscow, Idaho.
