    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews portray a facility with clear strengths in therapy, social programming, and hospitality-style amenities, but also with operational inconsistencies that prospective families should investigate. Positive feedback centers on tangible functional gains for residents who receive therapy, consistent family communication, an appealing dining environment, and staff who are frequently described as welcoming and engaging. At the same time, a number of concerns point to variability in day-to-day operations, particularly around staffing, cleanliness, and management stability.

Care and clinical services: Several families highlighted effective physical therapy that led to measurable mobility improvements and increased independence (for example, ambulation with a walker). Weekly progress updates and visible coordination between therapy and nursing were cited as helpful. Conversely, other accounts described inconsistent follow-through on promised care plans and occasions when staffing levels limited timely attention. There are also sanitation-related observations that imply incontinence-care and odor-management practices could be uneven across the community; these merit direct inquiry during a visit.

Staff and culture: Positive comments emphasize friendly, patient, and attentive employees who engage residents in activities and welcome family involvement. These interactions contribute to a home-like, calming atmosphere for many residents and visitors. However, reviewers also raised concerns about staff turnover and variability in caregiver professionalism. That pattern suggests the experience may depend on current staffing stability and individual team members; ask about turnover rates and staff training when evaluating the community.

Dining and activities: Dining receives consistent praise — a neatly set dining room, appealing meals, and residents who look forward to mealtimes. Programming is described as social and encouraging, with comfortable den-style activity spaces and large-screen TVs that support group engagement. Families seeking an active social environment will likely find strengths here, while those requiring specialized memory-care programming should confirm the scope and experience of the activity team.

Facilities and cleanliness: The building is described as remodeled, clean, and home-like in many comments, with staff and receptionists noted for warmth. At the same time, some reviewers described sanitation and odor concerns in common areas and other cleanliness lapses. These mixed observations indicate the physical plant may be generally well maintained but subject to variability in housekeeping or incontinence-management practices.

Management and operational patterns: A subset of reviews expresses anxiety about recent leadership changes and the potential impact on care quality. One reviewer referenced prior regulatory attention and a perceived deterioration over time; given the seriousness of that claim, prospective families should request the facility's inspection history and any corrective-action documentation. There is also mixed perception about cost and value, with some families calling out pricing concerns. Tour experiences were described as either reassuring or disappointing depending on the visit, indicating variability in admissions communications.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant positive themes are responsive therapy, warm staff interactions, appealing dining, and active programming; dominant concerns are inconsistent staffing/turnover, sanitation variability, and management instability. Prospective residents and family members should perform targeted due diligence: tour multiple days and meal times, ask for recent staffing and turnover metrics, request examples of care-plan follow-through, review regulatory inspection history, and verify specialized memory-care capabilities if applicable. These steps will help clarify whether the facility’s current operational practices match the positive experiences described and address the operational inconsistencies flagged by other families.

About Montclair Senior Living & Memory Care

Montclair Senior Living & Memory Care sits in Morton Grove, Illinois, and offers assisted living and memory care for older adults, focusing on people with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or memory issues, and it's a newly established community with secure, purpose-built buildings and grounds. The place has around 11-50 employees, including a Director of Business Development named Leslee Lopez and Lorena Amarillo, the Executive Director, who's also a Certified Dementia Practitioner, with staff including nurses, a doctor on call, caregivers, hospitality workers, and even a nursing major student-athlete. Security features keep residents safe, and the memory care area has its own secured building with alarms and locked units to keep residents who wander or act aggressively from getting lost, plus staff receive training to help residents who need reminders, cues for activities of daily living, or support with difficult behaviors. The staff can help with grooming, toileting, incontinence care, transfers, medication support, insulin injections for diabetics, and they use mechanical lifts as needed, and all areas are wheelchair accessible.

The design of Montclair Senior Living & Memory Care features welcoming entrances, a comfortable lobby with soft seating, cozy fireplaces, and spacious rooms, and the bedrooms include comfortable beds, desks, closets, and attached bathrooms with safety features like grab bars and walk-in showers, plus spa-like tubs for relaxation. People can choose a studio room, and the property is pet-friendly, allowing dogs or cats with pet care services available if needed. There are beautiful outdoor spaces with green lawns, patios, gardens, walking paths, and shaded seating, and inside, residents find game rooms, billiards tables, elegant dining rooms set with linens and fresh flowers, and salon services to help everyone look their best. The dining team, including a chef, prepares meals daily with restaurant-style service, anytime dining, and accommodations for dietary needs like gluten-free, low sodium, low sugar, or diabetic diets, and private dining rooms are also available for guests or family visits.

Residents get lots of choices for activities, from classes in art and cooking, brain fitness games, and gardening, to off-site trips, wine tastings, Wii bowling, and intergenerational events, plus devotional services, educational lectures, and community service opportunities. Programs like the Calendar of Events, Night of Roses, Signature Events, Community Events, and the Scholarship program foster a social atmosphere. Fitness programs, a yoga studio, and a wellness center aim to support the mind and body, while staff encourage seniors to remain active and engaged as long as they wish. The community lets people smoke outdoors and offers parking for residents who drive, plus transportation is arranged for outings, medical appointments, and shopping, often using a chauffeur-driven shuttle.

The staff provides 24-hour supervision, assistance with medication and health monitoring, personalized care plans, and regular health assessments, and hospice or respite care is available for those needing temporary or end-of-life support. Montclair welcomes residents as their care needs change, supporting aging in place. Pets are welcome, and the grounds are well landscaped. Rooms start at about $7,200 per month for a studio in the memory care section. The focus stays on providing safe, honest, and comfortable daily living for older adults and those facing memory loss, with leadership and staff aiming to create a calm, welcoming environment where everyone can belong, and the facility is now open and accepting new residents.
