    Excellent rehab, compassionate staff, comfortable

I moved my dad here for rehab and was very pleased. The PT/OT team is outstanding - motivating, effective, and helped him regain mobility and independence. Staff are warm, hardworking and genuinely supportive (Alona Valencia was especially helpful with Medicaid questions). The facility is clean and well-maintained, rooms are comfortable and private with AC and internet, and each floor has laundry and a kitchenette. Meals are chef-prepared with a daily menu and special requests welcome, and organized activities, chapel and outdoor space create a real sense of community - I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Celebrate Senior Living of Niles is a long-established, multi-level senior community that many families describe as providing compassionate hands-on care, strong rehabilitation services, and a spiritually oriented social environment. The facility offers a full continuum of care—independent living through skilled nursing—with an on-site memory care unit and regular worship services. Reviews consistently highlight a warm staff culture and an active social calendar, alongside practical amenities such as laundry on each floor, a library/computer room, a salon, transportation services, and several communal dining and recreational spaces.

Care and staff: Many accounts praise nursing, CNAs, and therapy teams for attentive, recovery-focused care and for working closely with families during transitions and discharges. Rehabilitation (PT/OT) and on-site therapy are recurrent strengths, with several families crediting therapy staff for functional improvements and safe returns home. At the same time, reviewers describe operational gaps: inconsistent staffing levels on particular units, intermittent short-staffing events, and occasional delays in clinical responsiveness. There are also multiple references to concerns about medication oversight and to instances where physician responsiveness and family communication could have been better; these point to opportunities to standardize clinical handoffs and family-notification procedures.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently noted as a positive—three meals a day, chef-prepared offerings, the ability to request alternative items, and a largely included-meal model that families find economical. Nonetheless, several reviewers describe variability in food quality and limited variety (sandwich-heavy menus, uneven availability of fresh produce), suggesting a difference between routine dining satisfaction and occasional shortfalls. Activities are broad and include faith-based programming, exercise and balance classes, movies, clubs, seasonal events, and an active social life for residents. However, activity staffing appears uneven: some families report lively, well-run programs while others note under-resourced activity schedules and idle periods for residents who need more engagement.

Facilities and accessibility: The campus has attractive chapel and communal spaces, pleasant grounds, and a number of specialty amenities (projection room, ice cream parlor, sun rooms). Reviewers frequently describe the building as older but clean and well-kept; character elements and communal nooks draw positive comments. Operationally, the facility’s age produces limitations: small apartment footprints and bathrooms, some non-ADA-compliant bathrooms, occasional heating/AC regulation problems, and elevator reliability issues. Practical safety features are an area of concern for some families—specifically the absence of in-room emergency pull cords in certain units—and parking-lot maintenance and exterior walkway conditions have been cited as potential safety issues.

Management, administration, and value: Admissions and many front-line staff receive strong praise for being welcoming, helpful, and compassionate; the community offers value-oriented pricing, bundled services, and Medicaid beds which make it an accessible option for a range of budgets. Conversely, administrative inconsistencies are mentioned with respect to billing, business-office communication, and occasional scheduling/tour issues. Those considering the community should ask for clear explanations of billing policies, move-in fees, and how the facility handles escalations or clinical incidents.

Patterns and recommendation guidance: The overall pattern is one of a mission-oriented community with a strong clinical rehabilitation program, attentive front-line caregivers, and a variety of resident-focused amenities at an economical price point. The principal trade-offs are building age and associated infrastructure limitations, variability in staffing and administrative responsiveness, and occasional inconsistencies in dining and activity staffing. Prospective residents and families who prioritize compassionate staff, on-site therapy, spiritual life, and cost-effectiveness will likely find this community a good fit. Those seeking larger modern apartments, guaranteed elevator reliability, fully ADA-compliant bathrooms, in-room kitchen amenities, or consistently high activity staffing should plan a detailed tour and verify operational assurances before committing.

About Celebrate Senior Living of Niles

Celebrate Senior Living of Niles sits on the southeast corner of Touhy and Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, Illinois, where it runs as a nonprofit that puts its resources into resident care, safety, and comfort rather than profits, and it offers different living options like Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and short-term Respite stays, all under one roof, so seniors can stay within the community as their needs change, and folks might like that it's accredited by the Joint Commission, which means there's an extra level of medical oversight.

There's a big focus on memory care with a dedicated community and secure areas for people with Alzheimer's and other kinds of dementia, and they really try to keep residents safe with wandering prevention systems, emergency alert buttons, wireless fall detectors, and constant supervision with nurses and care staff around 24/7, offering between 12 and 16 hours of nursing a day depending on need, and help with things like transfers and getting around if someone's non-ambulatory. They have individualized care plans that look after each resident's dignity and daily needs-like bathing, dressing, medication, and meals-and there are loads of daily programs to help folks stay engaged, like music, arts, live entertainment, and holiday parties, plus structured activity programs led by dedicated staff and some resident-run ones as well.

In addition to skilled nursing care with certified nursing beds and therapy-including on-site occupational, physical, and speech therapists-they have housekeeping and laundry on every floor, all utilities like Wi-Fi and cable included, and maintenance comes twice a month. For meals, they've got a big dining room that serves three chef-prepared meals a day, with attention for special diets like diabetes and allergies, or people can enjoy casual options at the Celebrate Café or grab a treat at the Celebrate Ice Cream Parlor with scoops and fresh coffee.

Families and friends who want to visit can use the guest suites, and the place offers everything from beautiful patios, a garden, and a 10-acre natural area with walking paths and swings, to balcony access on every floor and plenty of common areas like lounges and themed sunrooms. There's a chapel with both Catholic and non-denominational religious services, plus the library, beauty salon/barber shop, exercise and technology suites, lounges, and a big 10,000-square-foot activities floor with a theater and dueling pianos, so folks stay busy if they want to.

The independent living neighborhood has 209 beds and 107 private suites, while assisted living offers 47 suites, including 12 just for specialized memory care. There's a separate 55-bed skilled nursing unit, and 5 certified nursing beds are available as of June 2025. Help is there for daily activities, medication, and meals, and there's always support on hand if it's needed. On top of all that, folks have transportation options, parking, in-suite kitchenettes in some units, guest coordination for moving in, respite care for short-term support, and community tours led by staff like Executive Director Lucy Tur, Admissions Director Patti Hayes, and Director of Business Development CoraLynn Chavez.

The staff at Celebrate Senior Living of Niles aims to give everyone a chance to stay engaged, independent, and comfortable, with as much help or privacy as someone might want, in a close-knit community that pays attention to safety as well as the small things-like a live bird in the bistro area or daily musical programs-that make the days better.
