    Compassionate staff, clean home, recommended

I was pleased with the compassionate, hardworking staff - nurses, CNAs (Andrew stood out), aides, admin, housekeeping, kitchen and maintenance were all helpful. Communication was prompt and clear about meds and with the doctor; PT and social worker Megan were excellent. The facility was very clean, felt like home, my mom loved the food and asked to return - overall attentive care and a smooth transition; I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews of Staunton Health and Rehab Center emphasize strengths in direct resident care and facility operations while also indicating variability in some operational areas. Many family members and short-stay patients described compassionate, attentive caregivers and coordinated teamwork across nurses, aides, housekeeping, and administration. Several reviewers highlighted successful short-term rehabilitation outcomes and positive interactions with physical therapy and social-work staff.

Care and staff: The dominant theme is consistent praise for frontline staff—nurses, CNAs, therapists, and support personnel—who were described as empathetic, patient, and proactive. Reviewers frequently noted clear communication around medication changes and regular clinician visits, which contributed to perceived clinical reliability. Administrative and social-work staff were also credited with helping families navigate care and easing anxiety during transitions.

Dining, activities, and therapy: Multiple comments referenced enjoyable meals and effective therapy services that supported recovery and return home. Short-term rehab stays were often characterized as smooth and productive, and physical-therapy interactions received specific positive mention. While explicit activity programming was less detailed in the summaries provided, the social-work presence and therapeutic services were seen as supportive elements of residents’ experiences.

Facilities and housekeeping: Cleanliness and a home-like atmosphere were cited positively by several reviewers, with housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance staff singled out for helpfulness. At the same time, a subset of reviews raised sanitation and odor concerns in some areas, indicating unevenness in environmental maintenance across the facility.

Management and operational patterns: Administrative coordination and teamwork between administration and care staff were frequently praised, which correlates with many positive accounts of care transitions and communication. However, there are notable inconsistencies: a small number of reviewers reported rude or unprofessional staff interactions, lapses in vigilance (for example during rounds), and an assertion of an attempted relocation without documented power-of-attorney authority, an allegation that points to potential process and consent verification gaps. These items suggest variability in staff professionalism, supervisory oversight, and transfer/consent processes rather than uniformly systemic failure.

Notable patterns and considerations for families: The overall pattern is of a facility that delivers strong hands-on care and effective short-term rehabilitation for many residents, supported by engaged administrative and ancillary teams. Simultaneously, intermittent deficiencies in staff conduct, supervision, and environmental consistency were reported. Prospective residents and families may wish to discuss staffing oversight, consent and transfer procedures, and environmental-maintenance practices with facility leadership to understand how the facility addresses variability and assures consistent standards.
