    Caring professional staff, highly recommended

I moved my mom here almost three years ago and have been very pleased with the caring, professional staff - nurses, CNAs and therapy - who work as a team and truly treat residents like family. The building is clean and well-maintained, meals are good (meatloaf was a favorite), activities keep everyone engaged, and leadership (Paula, Nurse Alicia and others) is hands-on and responsive. Medical, rehab and wound care have been proactive and effective; overall a very good, comforting place I'd highly recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a mixed but actionable picture. Many families and residents praised the facility for its compassionate, professional nursing staff, responsive nursing leadership, and strong rehabilitation and wound-care teams. Multiple comments highlight effective physical therapy, engaging activities, and a range of recreational amenities (movie theater, exercise room, arts and crafts) that contribute to resident engagement and a positive social environment. Admissions and onboarding are frequently described as welcoming and supportive, and several reviewers emphasized a ‘‘family-like’’ staff culture and long-tenured employees.

Care quality and staffing: Clinical strengths cited include attentive daytime nurses, skilled rehab therapists, and proactive site leadership. At the same time, there are consistent operational concerns about staffing consistency—particularly nights and weekends—and response times to call-buttons and resident requests. These delays are tied to incontinence-care delays and occasional lapses in transfer/monitoring practices. Reviewers also described variability in staff conduct and professionalism; there are isolated but serious allegations of staff misconduct that families should explore during any evaluation.

Dining, activities, and facilities: The facility’s physical environment and activity offerings receive positive remarks: clean, well-maintained spaces, private and spacious rooms, and a broad activity calendar that many residents enjoy. Dining presentation and some menu items (for example, meatloaf) were praised, though there are recurring comments about inconsistent food quality and occasional interruptions to meal service or lack of alternative offerings.

Management, communication, and administrative concerns: Several families commended responsive managers and specific staff who facilitated good communication. Conversely, reviewers described communication errors (for example, inaccurate test or documentation information), inconsistent follow-through on therapy schedules, and problematic billing or insurance interactions. These administrative issues, combined with staffing variability and sanitation inconsistencies in certain common/dining areas, suggest areas where operational processes could be strengthened.

What to look for on a tour: Prospective residents and families should observe staffing levels across shifts (including nights and weekends), ask about average response times to call-buttons, inquire about incontinence and bathing schedules, review medication-administration and incident-reporting protocols, and request clarification on billing procedures and grievance processes. Also verify cleaning schedules for resident rooms and common areas and ask to speak with therapy and nursing leadership about individualized care plans.

Bottom line: The facility demonstrates important strengths—compassionate clinical staff, robust rehab services, active programming, and a well-maintained physical plant—but also shows recurring operational weaknesses around staffing consistency, responsiveness, cleanliness in some spaces, and administrative reliability. A directed tour and focused questions can help families assess whether the facility’s strengths outweigh the operational concerns for their specific needs.

    About Brownsburg Meadows

Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, Indiana, is a long-term care facility that offers a range of care options including independent living, assisted living, nursing home services, and memory care, and there's a special area called Auguste's Cottage for people with dementia, so you really see all sorts of help available here for folks at different stages of life, whether someone lives on their own in the garden homes or needs more hands-on support in the assisted living apartments or the skilled nursing section, and there's a focus on making things easier for people who need help with things like dressing, bathing, medication, and getting around, with transportation services, walking and wheelchair assistance, and nurses and aides on staff all the time, day or night. There are lots of activities if you want to stay busy, from arts and crafts to game nights, piano music at holiday events, movie nights, and a resident musical group, and there's even a fitness center, a salon, a game room, and areas for exercise and relaxation, and you can find social, educational, and religious programs meaning there's often something going on in the common areas, which makes it feel welcoming when you come in, though some folks say the housekeeping, especially in the cafeteria, doesn't always keep up the way people would like, with some visitors mentioning dirty tables and floors, but other areas often get described as clean and neat, so it seems to vary. Meals are served in dining rooms and through room service, but folks have mixed feelings about the quality and variety of food, so sometimes guests and residents find it just fine and sometimes not so much, and residents can also cook in their own kitchenettes if they want. There's help with light housekeeping, laundry, and linen services, and cable TV and internet in the rooms, and Wi-Fi around the building, so people can stay connected. The staff is nurse-owned and trained, with specialists in wound care, dementia, and recovery from surgery, and they work together as a team with doctors and therapists to help people feel better and stay healthy, with help for those coming back from a stroke, surgery or a fall, and special programs like fall prevention and strength-building to keep people moving. Brownsburg Meadows offers short-term respite care if family caregivers need a break, hospice and palliative care for comfort in serious illness, and even outpatient therapy for folks who want to keep working on recovery while living elsewhere. Safety is covered with handicap access, sprinkler systems, and emergency help, and the building itself is built to support the needs of seniors, with things like guest parking and garden patios. Brownsburg Meadows has a patient rating of 4.3 from about 46 reviews, and the community score is 6.4, which puts it as a solid option for a wide range of senior care needs, especially for people who want a broad range of services and care levels in one place, but like any place, it's not perfect, and people say it's got friendly staff who make an effort, a real variety of programs, and lots of different living arrangements, but you'll want to visit and see how it feels for your own needs.
