    Respectful staff, great food, welcoming

I placed my mother here and I'm very pleased: the staff are respectful, supportive and genuinely concerned, meds are always on time, the food and menu options are excellent, and they made her feel at home. The private room and bath, clean well-maintained facility, lively social spaces with art, bingo, movies and a sunny patio with grass, bunnies and chickens make it a very good choice - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Prairie View is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing high-quality, attentive care and a friendly, supportive staff. The most frequently cited strengths are the staff’s respectful attitude, genuine concern for residents’ well-being, and reliable medication management. Several reviews explicitly call out that residents were made to feel at home, that care attention is great, and that the facility is highly recommended, indicating consistent satisfaction with clinical and personal care aspects.

Staff and care quality emerge as a dominant theme. Reviewers describe staff as respectful, genuinely concerned, supportive, and friendly. Medication administration is noted as timely, which reinforces a perception of dependable clinical oversight. The administrator/management also receives praise in multiple summaries, suggesting competent leadership and responsiveness. One review mentioned a curfew-related scheduling issue, which appears to be a specific operational complaint rather than a widely repeated staffing criticism.

Facilities and programming receive strong positive remarks as well. Private accommodations (private rooms and private bathrooms) are highlighted repeatedly, as are clean and well-maintained common areas. Social living spaces, visible artwork, and a program of activities such as bingo and movies contribute to a socially active environment. The outdoor patio with grass and the presence of small animals (bunnies and chickens) are mentioned as distinctive, pleasant features that likely enhance residents’ quality of life and outdoor enjoyment.

Dining and daily living aspects are also favorable in the reviews. Several summaries mention varied menu options and great food, reinforcing the impression that meal services are a strength. Cleanliness is consistently noted, adding to the overall sense of a well-run facility.

Notable concerns are limited but important to acknowledge. COVID-related visitation restrictions were called out, which likely reflects time-bound pandemic policies rather than ongoing operational problems; however, such restrictions affect resident and family experience and are worth confirming with the facility if current visitation policies are a deciding factor. Cost is another recurring concern—reviews describe Prairie View as expensive, so potential residents and families should factor price into decision-making and ask about what services are included. The curfew-related scheduling issue mentioned by one reviewer suggests there may be isolated policy or scheduling practices that could require clarification.

In summary, the reviews paint Prairie View as a well-kept, activity-rich community with strong, compassionate staff and reliable care practices. The combination of private accommodations, appealing communal spaces, outdoor features with animals, good food, and an attentive administrative team results in high levels of recommendation from residents and families. Prospective residents should confirm current visitation policies, verify pricing and what is included, and ask about any scheduling or curfew rules to ensure they match personal preferences and needs.

    About Prairie View

Prairie View is a senior living community in Sanborn, Iowa, with a staff known for being joyful, kind, and always helpful, and it's structured to meet many different care needs. The campus has several buildings, with skilled nursing care in Prairie View Home, assisted living at Prairie View Inn, and independent living at Prairie View Manor, so residents can find the right balance of support or independence. Prairie View provides daily care services like non-ambulatory care, diabetic care, and incontinence care, and there's a dedicated memory care unit, Kuiper Villa, for people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, where things are set up to keep people comfortable, to minimize confusion, and to prevent wandering. The staff supports residents with everything from meals-planned with chefs and dieticians who make sure food is nutritious and appealing-to help with bathing, dressing, and medication management.

People can join in social activities, exercise, games, crafts, and devotional time, and there's a large activity room, social room, therapy space, and library for gatherings or quiet time. Prairie View offers skilled nursing care, intermediate care, restorative therapy, daily doctor visits, and pharmacy consultations, with extra help from dieticians, ET nurses, and a hospice suite-the Sunset Room-set up with a private bedroom, living area, decorations, TV, refrigerator, and a coffee pot. The community has secured housing units for those needing more support and a beauty shop with licensed beauticians. Families can use the private meeting rooms and social areas when visiting.

Prairie View has received quality awards like the Bronze National Quality Award in 2015, 2019, and 2024, and got the Governor's Award in 2014, with recognition for being deficiency free in multiple inspection years. There's a Care Finder service to help people find what they need, and Prairie View's connected with groups like the Iowa Health Care Association and Iowa Center for Assisted Living. Residents can choose from independent and assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, long-term care, restorative therapies, and hospice care, plus programs like the Home Care Accreditation Program. The community includes continuing care retirement options so people can stay even as their needs change, and there's a children's daycare, Kid's Express, planned to open in fall 2025. The place tries to give folks a friendly home-like place to live, with services and support that match different stages of aging.
