    Kind staff, clean, compassionate care

I placed my loved one here and am very satisfied - the staff are consistently kind, helpful, professional and compassionate, and residents are warm and friendly. The facility is clean, pleasantly decorated with no unpleasant odors, offers compassionate end-of-life care, has visitor safety measures, and even a stocked snack/drink cart for families in this church-owned community.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a consistently positive picture of day-to-day life at this facility, with particular emphasis on staff quality and the general environment. Care quality is described as compassionate and attentive; reviewers highlighted helpful and kind caregiving staff and specifically noted supportive end-of-life care. The tenor of staffโ€“resident interactions is characterized as friendly and resident-centered, and reviewers used language that suggests staff morale is good.

Staffing and management receive strong, repeated praise. Reviewers described staff as professional, pleasant, and approachable, and they noted the facilityโ€™s church affiliation and professional management as factors that made families comfortable placing a loved one there. Infection-control practices such as visitor temperature checks and a mask requirement were observed, which families framed as reassuring for safety.

Dining and family amenities were also mentioned positively. Meal presentation was described as appealing, and the presence of a stocked snack and drink cart for visitors was specifically appreciated as a family-friendly touch. While the reviews emphasize food appearance and visitor amenities, they do not provide detailed accounts of therapeutic dining programs or clinical nutritional services.

In terms of activities and community life, reviewers commented on an amiable resident population and a positive social atmosphere. The facilityโ€™s interiors were described as pleasantly decorated and well maintained, and overall cleanliness and odor-free common areas were highlighted repeatedly. However, reviewers provided limited detail about the scope or variety of structured activity programming, therapies, or specialized services such as rehabilitation or memory-care programming.

Notable patterns across the summaries are strong, consistent praise for staff attentiveness, cleanliness, and a comfortable physical environment, together with confidence in management and end-of-life care. Areas with less coverage in the reviewsโ€”and therefore potential gaps families may want to exploreโ€”include specifics about therapeutic and specialized clinical services and how visitation policies are managed during heightened infection-control periods. Prospective residents and families would likely benefit from asking targeted questions about available therapies, activity schedules, and the facilityโ€™s visitor policy flexibility when making placement decisions.

    About Winfield Rest Haven Inc

Winfield Rest Haven Inc has been serving seniors since 1963 and sits quietly next to Cherry Street Park in Winfield, Kansas, where George and Frances Blake donated the land for the home all those years ago, and over six decades it's grown into a nonprofit community for older adults who need nursing care, independent living, respite care, or even memory care for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, and the place stays busy with programs that teach residents how to spot online scams, avoid charity fraud, and keep their information safe so everyone can give and support causes without worry, and the staff, like the administrator Dereck Hutchison and directors for nursing, activities, rehabilitation, and food, work together to keep the home running smoothly, with medical records, business, and environmental departments working behind the scenes. Winfield Rest Haven Inc has a Veterans & Military Assistance Fund, an End Homelessness Fund, a Climate Change Fund, a Beneficiary Voices Fund, and an Animal Welfare Fund, besides taking part in helping during disaster relief campaigns like the Central Texas Flooding, tornadoes in the Midwest, and humanitarian efforts in places such as Israel, Gaza, and Ukraine, really showing they care about people both inside and outside the home's walls. They offer skilled nursing care, long-term living, rehabilitation with occupational, speech, and physical therapy, and assistance with daily life, plus memory care and senior activities, and there are apartments and outdoor spaces for fresh air, along with transportation if someone needs to get to the doctor or into town. There's a sense that the people living here are part of a community that tries to do the right thing and help others, and while the home isn't BBB accredited and suggests checking all licensing as needed, it's been managed thoughtfully for over 61 years, always focusing on the health, safety, and engagement of residents and welcoming folks who value a steady, caring place tucked away in a peaceful corner of town.
