    Warm clean facility excellent staff

I toured this facility and moved my relative in - staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very professional, and management and nursing are actively involved (the DON handled a concern promptly). The place is warm, impeccably clean, rooms are impressively spacious, and residents enjoy a busy routine with regular activities and strong rehab support; lunch is especially good. Overall the care exceeded my expectations and I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Telford Terrace presents a mixed picture in which demonstrable strengths in facility environment and certain aspects of clinical care coexist with operational and communications weaknesses that families should evaluate carefully. Many reviewers praised the facilityโ€™s cleanliness, room quality, warm atmosphere and active programming; the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation focus and favorable state-inspection history were also highlighted. At the same time, reviewers described recurring operational issues that may affect day-to-day resident experience and family confidence.

Care quality and clinical staffing: The facility appears to deliver solid clinical and rehabilitation services for many residents. Multiple comments praised knowledgeable nurses, an excellent LPN, attentive night-shift caregivers, and an active nursing-management presence. However, there is variability in staff competency and professional demeanor. Some families described specific nurse conduct concerns that were reported to leadership and, in at least one instance, addressed by the director of nursing. Prospective families should confirm staffing levels, staff training and supervisory oversight during tours.

Staff, management and communication: A consistent area of concern is staff professionalism and communication style. Reviewers noted instances of public confrontations between staff and family members and described attitude problems among some employees. There are also reports of payroll or administrative-management problems, including discrepancies and disputes about staff hours. These issues point to weaknesses in conflict-resolution practices, human-resources processes, and family communication pathways. Families may want to ask about grievance procedures, how management handles conduct issues, and whether there is a documented process for resolving payroll or staffing disputes.

Dining and daily living: Comments indicate the facility maintains regular meal service and that many residents find the daily routine agreeable; lunch was cited as the most well-received meal and residents enjoy consistent activities. However, operational gaps were described around mealtime assistance and dining safety: slow or delayed assistance during meals, trays left in common dining areas, and practices reviewers felt increased choking risk. These describe process-level concerns about dining supervision and feeding practices rather than isolated culinary quality. Visitors should inquire about meal-assistance protocols, staffing at peak meal times, and how staff monitor residents during eating.

Activities and environment: The facilityโ€™s activity program and social opportunities were generally viewed positively. Reviewers described a busy schedule, regular programming, and a welcoming social environment that residents enjoyed. Facility maintenance and cleanliness were noted as strengths, and room size and quality were favorably compared to other options.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The most significant items that families should verify in person are call-light response times, mealtime assistance procedures, visitor and resident-movement policies, and administrative practices around payroll and staffing. A serious individual allegation concerning restricted movement and visitation was raised; families should review the facilityโ€™s resident-rights policies, competency-assessment procedures, and any applicable regulatory findings when making decisions. Given the mix of commendations and operational concerns, prospective residents and their families would benefit from targeted questions during a visit, requesting recent inspection reports, speaking with current families when possible, and observing meal and shift-change periods to assess real-time operations.

    About Telford Terrace

Telford Terrace sits on a quiet 40-acre campus and serves as a not-for-profit, ecumenical Christian senior community where folks can find long-term care, assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing all in one place, so you don't have to worry about moving every time your needs change, and a waiting list with five names means there's some interest but not an endless line. The place looks after people who need help with day-to-day things, medication management, memory support for dementia or Alzheimer's, and folks who need supervised care or help getting around, plus there's a full nursing and rehabilitation center with 42 beds offering physical, occupational, and speech therapy, wound care, pain management, nutrition therapy, complete diabetes treatment, IV therapy, and hospice care when needed. Nearby you'll find Pattie A Clay Rehabilitation Center and Kentucky Orthopaedics & Spine for added health support beyond what's available on site.

Residents live in studio and two-bedroom apartments for assisted living and condominiums for independent living, all with telephone service and furnished spaces, while the rooms and shared areas stay clean with regular housekeeping and laundry services, including options like dry cleaning, so everyone stays comfortable. The grounds have walking paths and gardens, and inside there's an arts room, a barber and salon, movie nights, and a dining room serving meals that can be adjusted if someone has food allergies or needs a diabetes-friendly diet. People here can bring their pets if they'd like.

The community encourages everyone to join in activities, whether those are planned by staff or run by the residents themselves, and they hold social gatherings and events to help people meet and stay involved. Staff keep an eye out day and night with a 24-hour call system and emergency alert systems to help everyone feel safe. Transportation gets arranged for doctor visits or outings, and there's on-site support from healthcare teams who focus on meeting physical, social, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs. Apartments have sturdy, simple furnishings and plenty of common space for relaxing or joining friends.

Telford Terrace says their mission is to take care of seniors with the same compassion shown by Jesus Christ, including anyone regardless of background, and they get recognized for staff with friendly, helpful attitudes and programs that keep people active and social. The community carries a Certified Continuing Care Retirement Community status, works with Medicare and Medicaid, and is associated with McCready Manor for even more care services, focusing on health and well-being for seniors who want a little help, a lot of help, or just a place to live around others. The front desk is always ready to give a warm greeting, and the whole place runs with a resident-centered approach, meaning each person is seen as a respected member of the Telford family.
