    Excellent memory care, friendly staff

I placed my loved one at Cedar Crest and I'm very pleased - the staff are friendly, respectful and clearly knowledgeable about Alzheimer's; they greet us at the front desk and keep us informed. The apartment-like rooms feel homey, spacious, tidy and spotless (clothes are washed and hung neatly), the grounds and facility are beautiful, and head chef Athena's meals are excellent. There are plenty of activities to keep him engaged and management and support staff are professional and responsive; I recommend their memory care.

    Summary of reviews

Cedar Crest Memory Care presents as a well-maintained, home-like memory-assisted living community with several operational strengths. Reviewers consistently cite a calm atmosphere, attractive grounds, and spacious apartment-style suites. Cleanliness and tidy rooms are frequently noted, including attention to laundry and clothing care. The facility projects an appealing physical environment that many families find comfortable and reassuring.

Direct care strengths are concentrated at the floor level. Front-desk staff and floor caregivers are described as friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about dementia and Alzheimer’s care. Families report compassionate interactions, regular updates, and programming designed to keep residents active and engaged. Clinical and Alzheimer-focused approaches are characterized as proactive by some families, and dining receives specific praise for capable kitchen leadership.

Despite these positives, reviewers identify operational weaknesses that prospective families should assess closely. Staffing consistency is a recurrent concern: understaffing, high turnover, and signs of low pay are described as contributors to staff stress and lower morale. These workforce pressures appear to create occasional lapses in resident-handling practices and in supervisory oversight; reviewers framed these as care-quality concerns rather than systemic clinical failure, but they are important to clarify during a visit. Several families also perceive the cost of residency as high relative to the level of care received, which merits detailed contract and fee review.

Management and communication receive mixed evaluations. While some reviewers praise management and professional support staff, others cite gaps in responsiveness and the need for stronger management actions—especially around staffing, compensation, and on-the-floor supervision. For prospective residents and families, recommended due diligence includes asking for current staff-to-resident ratios, turnover statistics, details about training in transfer and behavioral care, a description of supervision practices, and a breakdown of all fees.

Overall, Cedar Crest appears to offer many of the features families seek in memory care—clean, comfortable living spaces; engaged, dementia-aware caregivers at the floor level; and organized programming—while also showing operational stressors tied to staffing and management that could affect consistency of care. A focused tour that observes staff–resident interactions, reviews staffing plans, and clarifies financial terms will help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual resident’s needs and expectations.
