    Longtime resident praises caring staff

I've lived here long-term and have no regrets - the staff is kind, loving and attentive, and the care is superb. The administrator is amazing, active with residents, knows us by name and makes necessary changes; I highly recommend this as the best home in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a generally favorable view of clinical care and long-term placement stability at Harmony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Several comments emphasize compassionate, attentive caregiving and characterize the care as appropriate for long-term residents. Family members expressed satisfaction with clinical outcomes and with choosing the facility for extended stays, indicating a reliable baseline of care continuity and resident support.

Staff-level strengths are prominent in the feedback: readers highlight an involved administrator who is visible, knows residents by name, and follows through on operational changes. Nursing and support staff are described as kind and attentive, which supports the account of consistent caregiving quality. These features suggest a leadership culture that prioritizes resident familiarity and responsiveness to operational issues.

At the same time, there is an identifiable operational weakness relating to interpersonal conduct. One reviewer described a strongly negative interaction with a staff member characterized by disrespectful and profane communication. That incident points to lapses in staff professionalism and communication tone. Prospective families should interpret this as an indicator that, while overall staff behavior is generally positive, there may be occasional breakdowns in staff–family interactions and a need for stronger consistency in interpersonal training and supervision.

The reviews provide little specific information about dining, activities, or the physical plant. There are no detailed remarks about meal quality, activity programming, or facility amenities in the provided summaries, so those areas remain unassessed based on this dataset. Prospective residents and families would benefit from an on-site visit, sample menus, and an activities schedule to evaluate those dimensions directly.

In summary, Harmony House appears to offer attentive, long-term care with active administration and a staff that generally knows and engages residents personally. The primary operational concern highlighted is inconsistent staff professionalism in communication, which may require targeted training and supervisory attention to ensure uniform standards across all shifts and interactions. A tour and direct discussion with management about communication protocols, staff training, and activity/dining options are recommended for families seeking a fuller picture.

    About Harmony House - Shreveport

Harmony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. sits in Shreveport, Louisiana, serving seniors who need nursing care or rehabilitation with a warm, comfortable setting that tries to help residents feel at home, and you walk in and see big rooms, pleasant outdoor gardens for people to enjoy, and you notice right away they've got both private and semi-private rooms; private rooms go for about $6,019 to $7,811 a month and semi-private for $5,384 to $6,980, with only a few beds open as of June 2025 out of a total 115. The staff focuses on kindness and dignity, with nurses on 12- to 16-hour shifts and a 24-hour call system, and they've got folks who help with things like bathing, dressing, medication, or just lending a hand getting around, and they support people who use wheelchairs or can't walk, too.

They accept both Medicaid and Medicare, and you see they've got care for short-term needs, long-term stays, hospice, respite, and people with memory issues like Alzheimer's or dementia; there's physical, occupational, and speech therapy here, plus social workers and medical services from wound care to podiatry, so whatever someone needs to stay comfortable and cared for is usually handled on-site. Rooms come furnished with private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, and phone lines, and every room has air conditioning and safety features, including sprinklers and handicap accessibility, for peace of mind.

You find a lot to do here with activity rooms, a movie theater, a fitness program, spa, gardens, and Wi-Fi, with arts and crafts, social events, daily activities, and music, which helps keep life from getting dull even as people get the nursing attention they require. They've even got a library, salon, barbershop, and guest parking, and for families and residents, there are councils that meet to talk things over and try to make improvements. Meals come prepared by a professional chef with options for special diets, and everyone eats together in a dining room set up so people feel part of a community.

Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are part of the package, so nobody's got to worry about that, and transportation is handled for those who need it. Harmony House doesn't belong to a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), but it still provides both short- and long-term care, with social activities and personal help ready for anyone who needs it. The staff pay close attention to emotional and social needs, and the tradition here leans toward friendly, steady, and compassionate care without any big fuss. Some details, like specific amenities or services, might change or have missing information from time to time, but the center focuses on making sure residents are safe, comfortable, and supported every day.
