    Professional caring staff clean facility

I was very pleased with my experience - the staff are professional, knowledgeable, genuinely caring and always willing to help. The facility is well-kept and clean (private rooms especially), Kathy Dunlap provided clear, timely information, wound care was outstanding, and at about $1,200/month I would happily recommend this place to a family member.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture of Magnolia Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Several reviewers praise specific clinical strengths — notably wound care managed by external providers and an initially strong rehabilitation/physical-therapy program — and they describe individual caregivers and administrative staff who are caring, patient, and communicative. Private rooms are described as generally clean and well maintained, and the facility has personnel who provide timely coordination of certain care processes.

However, multiple operational concerns recur across reviews. The most prominent themes involve inconsistent personal-care delivery and slow response times from direct-care staff, with uneven adherence to bathing, call-answering, and room-maintenance schedules. Families describe variability in cleanliness between private and shared accommodations and note that room supplies are not always replenished reliably. Restroom access limitations during weekends and holidays were flagged as an accessibility issue.

Clinical-safety patterns emerge as areas of concern. Several accounts indicate gaps in wound and skin-care monitoring, inconsistent diabetic and medication-related practices, and weaknesses in resident-transfer and handling safety. Reviewers also describe delayed escalation of clinical incidents and limited transparency in communication with families; a subset of comments references regulatory scrutiny and questions about how incidents were handled and communicated. These issues combine to create perceived infection risk and safety vulnerabilities for some residents.

Staffing and management dynamics appear uneven. While some staff and front-line clinicians are described as knowledgeable and helpful, reviews also describe poor interdisciplinary communication among CNAs, licensed nurses, and administration, along with low staff engagement or morale. Admissions and front-desk interactions are noted as inconsistent in tone and helpfulness; reviewers cite unclear information about private-room duration and billing. Kitchen service for residents requiring specialized diets is described as inadequate, suggesting a need for stronger dietary oversight.

Taken together, the pattern suggests a facility with clear clinical strengths in selected services (wound care, rehabilitation) and individual staff who provide good care, but with operational and managerial gaps that affect consistency of daily care, safety processes, and family communication. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing levels, ask for detailed care and transfer protocols, review wound- and diabetes-management procedures, clarify private-room policies and billing, and inspect both private and shared rooms. Request information on incident-reporting procedures, property-safeguarding practices, and after-hours restroom access to assess whether the facility’s current practices meet the prospective resident’s needs.
