    Compassionate caregivers gave us peace

I'm so grateful for the compassionate, attentive staff who made my mom feel comfortable and respected - caregivers became like family and Amanda, Crystal and Rhonda truly stood out. She stayed active with Bible study, music, therapy and events, enjoyed the meals, and the facility was clean with a pleasant, hands-on administration and helpful guest house. Overall a very positive family experience that gave us real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for The Guest House Skilled Nursing and Rehab show a polarized picture: many families praised the facility for compassionate direct care, robust activities, and effective rehabilitation services, while other families described substantive operational and safety shortcomings. Positive comments emphasize a warm, community-oriented environment where staff engage residents in music, dancing, movie nights, Bible study and other social programming, and where grooming services, pet visits and spiritual support are available. Several families highlighted hands-on administrative presence, consistent medication administration, and daily therapy offerings that supported rehab readiness.

At the same time, recurring operational concerns appear across reviews. Staffing variability—with particular strain on night shifts—was frequently associated with long waits for assistance, delayed toileting help, and missed rounds. Those response delays combined with inconsistent transfer and fall-prevention practices produced safety concerns, including reports of falls and injury incidents. Reviewers also raised sanitation and incontinence-care concerns and occasional odor issues; these were described alongside otherwise well-maintained common areas, indicating inconsistencies across units or shifts.

Dining and amenities produce mixed feedback. Some residents and families found the meals satisfactory and appreciated on-site services like hair and nail care and in-room TVs. Others described inconsistent food quality and cold meals, and noted limited guest accommodations and a lack of complimentary beverage service. Facility size and room layout were generally described as adequate, with closets and dressers available, but families called out weaknesses in property management and the transfer of medical records when residents moved to other facilities.

Management and staff culture are frequently portrayed in contrasting terms. Several families credited a responsive, involved administrator and praised particular caregivers by name for compassionate, dignity-preserving care. Conversely, other reviews allege poor communication, a lack of transparency around incidents, problematic hiring or training practices, and a perception that financial priorities sometimes influence decision-making. These mixed perspectives suggest variability in leadership effectiveness and consistency across shifts or departments.

Notable patterns for prospective families are the pronounced inconsistency between positive daytime/administrative experiences and negative nighttime/staffing-related experiences, plus recurrent themes around response times, safety practices, sanitation controls, and communication. When evaluating this facility, families may want to assess staffing levels across shifts, ask about fall-prevention and toileting-assistance protocols, review incident-reporting and property-tracking procedures, and observe meal service and activity programming firsthand to determine whether the facility’s strengths align with their relative priorities.
