    Family-owned pet-friendly homestyle senior home

I moved my mom into this family-owned, quiet country home and we're very pleased. The staff are warm and attentive-meds and weekly home-health nurse visits are handled with real care-and her large room is being freshly updated. One-floor, pet-friendly layout with homestyle meals, transportation, laundry and a beauty room plus library/puzzles, bingo and music performances keeps her independent and engaged; my sister loves it too.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is strongly positive, with recurring praise for the staff, the home-like atmosphere, and the small, community-focused nature of The Meadows. Reviewers consistently emphasize caring and attentive staff who help with medications and provide medication management. Several notes point to staff being friendly and truly caring, and family members express satisfaction with how their loved ones are treated. The facility is described as welcoming and home-like rather than institutional.

Care quality and clinical/community supports are presented as appropriate for independent or assisted needs: medication management is specifically noted, and a weekly home-health nurse visit is mentioned, indicating some on-site clinical support without implying full skilled nursing. The reviewers highlight that staff are helpful with medications and attentive to residents, which suggests reliable day-to-day care and supervision. Multiple family endorsements (for example, a sister loves it) reinforce a sense of trust in the caregiving team.

Facilities and living spaces are described positively. The Meadows is a single-floor, accessible facility set in a quiet country atmosphere, which reviewers liked for its calm environment. Rooms are reported to be large, and at least one review notes that a room was being prepared with painting and a new sink, suggesting ongoing upkeep and investment in living spaces. Practical amenities such as in-house laundry, transportation services, and a beauty/hair room are available and noted as conveniences by reviewers. The allowance of pets and a home-like dining area further contribute to a residential, comfortable feel.

Dining and activities receive favorable comments. Meals are characterized as excellent and home-style, and dining is described as pleasant. The community marks celebrations with birthday and holiday meals, and activities include bingo, puzzles, a library, and occasional musical performances. These offerings point to an environment that supports social engagement and routine communal activities suitable for residents seeking an active but relaxed lifestyle.

Management and ownership appear to be strengths: reviewers mention family ownership, which comes across as a positive factor contributing to the personalized, home-like culture. Multiple comments about staff friendliness and attentiveness suggest stable, people-centered management. The combination of family ownership, small-scale operations, and the described amenities indicates a facility positioned to offer a close-knit community experience rather than a large institutional setting.

Notable patterns and concerns are minimal in the provided summaries. The only explicit negative or ambiguous comment is that one reviewer noted "mom cannot return," which is not explained further in the summaries. This raises a potential concern about a specific incident or policy affecting readmission or transitions, but there is insufficient detail to determine the cause or scope of the issue. No other consistent complaints about staffing, cleanliness, food, safety, or activities appear in the summaries. Prospective residents or family members may want to follow up directly with The Meadows to clarify the context of the "mom cannot return" comment and to confirm care level compatibility if higher medical or skilled nursing needs are anticipated.

In summary, the available reviews paint The Meadows as a small, family-owned, home-like community with caring staff, reliable medication support, pleasant home-style meals, a range of social activities, and practical amenities. The atmosphere is described as quiet and welcoming, with accessible single-floor design and enhancements to rooms noted. The primary outstanding item to investigate further is the unexplained report of a resident who could not return; otherwise, the pattern of feedback is uniformly positive and emphasizes attentive staff and a comforting, community-oriented environment.

    About The Meadows

The Meadows Senior Living Center sits out in Greene, Maine on ten acres of well-kept land not far from Lewiston and Auburn, so you get that country, home-style feeling with flower and vegetable gardens, a chicken house, a goat pen, bird houses, and plenty of outdoor patios and flat walks, and you'll see residents enjoying the Piano Room, TV/Game Room, reading in the library, or cooking in the resident kitchen, as there's a real focus on folks being active and involved in whatever community activities are going on. There are twenty-five spacious private rooms in two different sizes and all are one level, making it easy for people to get around, especially with the ramps and railings and the U-shaped ground-level building, so it's good for people who need easy access, and the rooms all have private bathrooms, individually controlled thermostats, smoke detectors, and emergency call buttons, with the option to bring your own furniture or use the furniture provided. You see, The Meadows doesn't run like a nursing home, because there's no nursing staff, but there's always staff here around the clock, and you get weekly housekeeping, linen service, and room options for private living, sharing with a spouse, or a roommate. They offer care types like independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, as well as home care, and you'll find transportation services (especially for medical appointments or local trips) along with guest and family meal options, laundry/dry cleaning, postal service, and building maintenance. Amenities include a hair salon, library, game and recreation room, outdoor gardens, and some optional things like in-room cable or private telephones at added cost, plus people can count on security lighting inside and outside, fire sprinklers, and a direct fire alarm connection to the fire station-there's a general sense that somebody's always looking out for you here. The Meadows offers meals in a comfortable dining room, with catering by appointment, and the space lets residents vote absentee without leaving the building, which seems handy for those who want to stay civically involved. There are off-site field trips, arts and crafts, health and wellness programs, movie nights, and educational events, always something to keep hands and minds busy. The owner, Rebecca Laliberte, lives on site, manages the center, and keeps things running like a tight ship, making this a steady choice for self-sufficient seniors seeking a secure, homey atmosphere, with a little help if it's ever needed. The place doesn't publish prices, but reviews are good, with a community rating of 8.8 out of 10, the highest in Greene, and their free advisory services run weekdays 8AM to 9PM and weekends 8AM to 5:30PM, so families can get help choosing what's best. This all means that seniors here find a safe, friendly home with room to live their own way, surrounded by community and nature, not far from medical centers and small town comforts.
