    Small beautiful facility caring staff

I toured this smaller, beautiful facility for my wife and felt comfortable after meeting the patient, patient and caring staff. It has a family-like atmosphere, is clean, offers 24-hour care, activities and outings, and is conveniently close to home. Staff were thoughtful and understanding with difficult residents - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The facility presents as a small, home-like senior residence located close to families and supportive of a comfortable transition. Reviewers emphasize a clean, attractive environment and a low resident census that appears to allow staff to provide individualized attention. Families commonly expressed a willingness to recommend the community based on their initial impressions and early experiences.

Care and staff: Care quality is characterized by patient, caring, and understanding staff who are described as responsive to residents' needs, including those who can be challenging to manage. The availability of around-the-clock assistance was noted as a clear operational feature. Interpersonal interactions are consistently described as considerate and reassuring, contributing to residents feeling comfortable after meeting staff.

Dining and activities: The community offers programming that includes activities and organized outings, which are viewed positively as engagement opportunities for residents. Specific commentary on dining services was limited in the provided summaries; prospective families should verify meal quality, menu variety, and dietary-accommodation processes during a visit.

Facilities and accessibility: Physically, the site is described as a converted home with attractive interior and exterior aesthetics and generally maintained cleanliness. The building’s original layout includes stairs and therefore presents a notable accessibility constraint. This stair-dependent design makes the facility less suitable for residents who require stair-free access, significant mobility aids, or higher-acuity physical supports.

Management and notable patterns: Management and front-line staff are perceived as attentive and family-oriented, with several families noting thoughtful, considerate interactions. The small size supports personalized care but may also limit the range of specialized clinical or rehabilitative services available on-site. Recommended next steps for prospective residents and families are an in-person tour to assess the unit layout and accessibility, confirmation of specific clinical and dietary services, and a discussion about how the team manages higher-acuity needs and mobility-related accommodations.

    About A Father Love

A Father Love sits in a quiet neighborhood at 2812 Viceroy Ave in District Heights, Maryland, and this residential care home helps seniors aged 55 and older with daily living while letting folks keep their independence as much as possible, so you'll find both private and shared rooms, good for whatever someone prefers. Meals come daily and there's a dining room where neighbors gather, sharing food that keeps nutrition in mind, and the staff, including registered nurses, handle things around the clock, helping with medicine, bathing, getting dressed, transfers, and special medical needs like checking blood sugar levels. The place has indoor and outdoor common areas, so if someone wants to relax or get fresh air, there's space for that, and walking paths and a garden make the outside welcoming, while inside you'll see folks visiting, taking part in activities, or sitting quietly. A Father Love offers memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia in a secure environment, and caregivers, all English-speaking, work to respect each person's routine and needs, plus there's help with medication, memory support, and even speech therapy right on site, which can matter if someone's health changes. For caregivers who need a break, respite care is available for short stays, and if someone's health declines, hospice services are offered too, with a doctor on call and visiting nurses helping keep an eye on any medical problems. The facility cleans and does laundry, including dry cleaning, so residents don't have to worry about chores piling up, and emergency alert systems add peace of mind. Residents can join in with community activities, outings to local shopping spots like Centre at Forestville or Pen Mar Shopping Center, and trips to nearby attractions such as National Harbor or Walker Mill Regional Park if they want, and the staff schedules things every day, so folks have ways to get involved if they choose. Transportation options and on-site parking-free for residents-make visits and trips easier, and with public transportation close by, getting into town or reaching local hospitals doesn't require much fuss. The whole place has a community feel where seniors, staff, and sometimes family spend time together, and folks can always arrange a tour to see how everything works and meet the people who live and work there.
