    Pleased with homelike attentive care

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased - the remodeled great room and gazebo make it feel homelike, and the property is consistently clean and comfortable. Staff, manager, and owner are attentive and well trained, care is comprehensive, the home-cooked food and activities like bingo and movies keep her happy, and fees feel fair. I'd recommend this facility to other families looking for good value and quality care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Constant Care at Winfield is described as a small, home-style assisted living option that emphasizes personalized attention and a family-oriented environment. Reviewers frequently highlight the caregiving team and leadership as strengths; staff are characterized as trained, helpful, and responsive, while management and ownership are viewed as proactive and accessible. The facility is associated with comprehensive care services and a sense of safety and comfort for residents.

Care and staff: Care quality is consistently presented as a strong point. Families and residents describe attentive, helpful staff and a manager/owner who engage with families and address care needs. These accounts suggest effective day-to-day resident supervision and responsiveness to family concerns, contributing to general satisfaction with clinical and personal care aspects.

Dining and activities: Dining receives positive commentary for home-style cooking and a well-regarded menu; several accounts reference good meal quality and value. Programming is modest but active — examples include bingo, movies, and other routine activities — and the presence of an outdoor gazebo provides a simple recreational amenity. The activity program and dining together support resident engagement and socialization appropriate to a smaller facility.

Facilities and maintenance: Many descriptions portray the facility as clean and well-maintained with a homelike common room, but there are also accounts noting sanitation/odor concerns and visible repair needs. This creates a mixed picture: overall upkeep appears acceptable in most areas, yet maintenance and odor-control practices may be inconsistent, and parts of the building show signs of aging. The property’s size and style trade off high-end finishes; it is not positioned as a luxury campus and may feel less modern compared with larger facilities.

Management, value, and fit: Reviewers commonly cite fair fees and good perceived value, and several indicate the facility is a good fit for families seeking a smaller, personalized setting rather than a larger, more glamorous campus. Management and ownership responsiveness is a recurring positive theme and appears to reinforce resident and family confidence.

Notable patterns and considerations: The dominant themes are strong staff engagement, personalized care, decent meals, and a small-community atmosphere. Counterbalancing those strengths are operational issues around maintenance and odor control and an overall ambience that some may find subdued. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s personal, home-like advantages against the possibility of uneven facility maintenance and may want to tour the building at different times of day to assess cleanliness, scent/ventilation, and overall atmosphere before deciding.

    About Constant Care at Winfield

Constant Care at Winfield sits at 1200 West Old Liberty Road in Sykesville, Maryland, in Carroll County, where the place is fairly small with only 14 assisted living units, which means folks get a close, more personal kind of care and it's not hard to find staff when you need them. The community has assisted living and memory care services meant for seniors who can't be on their own safely but don't need the kind of care a nursing home would give, and the staff there are up all night and all day, keeping an eye on things and helping with whatever folks need, like getting dressed, moving around, taking medicine, or even feeding by hand if that's what's needed. Residents get their own space, with choices between single bedrooms, studios, or shared living rooms, and the place comes with all kinds of comforts like generous closet space, ADA-compliant bathrooms with grab bars, and decks and porches where people can relax with a view or some fresh air. You'll find places to gather inside like a games room, library, movie theater, and exercise room, plus there's a beauty salon, bistro, and even a greenhouse, with chef-prepared meals that can be adjusted for special diets, including dishes for folks with diabetes or other needs, and snacks are around all day too.

There are regular activities every day to keep boredom away, from holiday parties and devotional groups that take place off-site to simple things like games or movies, and the staff works to get everyone involved, whether it's a walk on a nearby trail, a visit to Mayeski Park or Piney Run Park, or just some quiet reading in a common room. Pet lovers can bring cats or dogs, and for folks who want to get out for a doctor appointment or shopping, there's free transportation, which is handy considering there are doctors' offices and pharmacies close by. The place supports people who need a hand with medicine, managing diets for diabetes, or even fall prevention programs for those who are worried about safety, and the care team is trained to help with Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, or other special needs, developing personalized care plans and keeping families informed with ongoing health checks. The community includes practical touches like laundry and linen service, case management, parking, and all-day maintenance, all aiming to keep things smooth and stress-free. The place doesn't post its prices but does have a review rating averaging 3.8 out of 5 from a few residents and families, which seems to show people appreciate the friendly staff and upkeep, and being labeled "Excellent" with 4 stars gives some sense that folks find it a solid choice if you need both care and comfort all in one spot, though as always, it's good to look in person to decide if it fits what you want.
