    Warm clean compassionate dementia care

I placed my mother here and have been very pleased - the beautiful, spotless facility feels like a warm, homelike mansion and the owner and staff are hands-on, professional, compassionate, and treat residents with dignity like family. They handle meds, baths and dementia needs calmly, keep us well informed, provide delicious meals, engaging activities and even a lovely garden with fresh eggs; it's safe, affordable, nearby, and I confidently recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a predominantly positive view of the facility’s daily environment and many aspects of care, while also flagging discrete operational and management concerns that prospective families should clarify during a tour. Positive commentary focuses on compassionate caregiving, active owner involvement, cleanliness, a homelike atmosphere, and consistent routines for medication and basic personal care. Several accounts emphasize strong family communication, accessible staff, a robust activities program, and well-regarded dining — all factors that contribute to perceptions of safety and good value.

Care and staff: Strengths include attentive, person-centered caregiving, frequent family updates, and staff who are described as caring and accessible. Owner- and manager-level engagement is repeatedly noted as hands-on, which reviewers tie to positive day-to-day oversight. At the same time, there are recurring concerns specific to dementia and memory care: some accounts describe staff with insufficient training or patience for complex memory-support needs. High staff turnover is also cited, which reviewers link to lapses in continuity of care and variability in how routines and resident preferences are honored. There are additional comments suggesting occasional concerns about staff conduct and responsiveness; families should ask about staff training, supervision, and turnover rates when evaluating the facility.

Dining and activities: Meals and the activity program receive favorable remarks. Reviewers describe appetizing breakfasts and prepared daily menus, alongside an active schedule of engagement opportunities. These elements are identified as contributing to resident wellbeing and relaxation. The facility’s smaller, homelike scale is recommended by some as beneficial for individualized attention.

Facilities and cleanliness: The property is frequently described as clean, well-maintained, and attractive. Common areas and private rooms are characterized as homelike and cared for, supporting a comfortable environment for residents and visitors.

Management and operations: While many reviews praise the owner’s involvement and management integrity, a subset raise serious operational concerns. These include questions about management transparency, billing and payment clarity, and at least one mention of allegations and regulatory attention involving ownership. Such claims are significant and warrant direct inquiry. Additionally, reviewers identify variability in service quality between shifts or units, and note rigid scheduling practices (for example, early wake-up routines) that may not suit all residents.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The pattern that emerges is one of generally strong hands-on caregiving, pleasant surroundings, and good programming, paired with variability tied to staffing stability and memory-care expertise. Prospective residents and families are advised to visit multiple times, observe different shifts, ask specific questions about memory-care training and staff turnover, review medication- and incident-reporting procedures, and seek clarity on billing and payment expectations. For residents with significant memory-support needs, obtain detailed information on dementia-specific staff training, routines, and supervision before making a placement decision.

    About CREATUS Adult Assisted Living

CREATUS Adult Assisted Living sits at 31414 Marburg Ln, Upper Marlboro, MD, offering care to seniors with many different needs, whether folks live independently, need daily support, or have memory concerns like Alzheimer's or other dementia, and you'll find the staff keeps a steady eye out for those who wander or show tricky behaviors, since they use a secure and purpose-built property for safety, including technology like Wander Guard bracelets to help keep everyone safe. You'll see people from under 55 and up-both men and women-living in private or semi-private rooms with bath tubs, using Wi-Fi, or spending time in indoor and outdoor common areas, maybe heading out for a swim or using the hot tub, and if someone enjoys a good meal, there's both kosher and vegetarian options available daily, since they try to make food fit different needs and everyone eats together in a homelike dining area. The staff, including awake staff always on duty round the clock, speak English and Spanish, and they're trained for all sorts of medical needs, like incontinence, diabetes (including blood sugar checks and insulin injections, though they skip sliding scale therapy), and they've got nurses, podiatrists, therapists, and hospice care folks coming in when needed, with transportation to appointments if someone can't drive themselves, either offered for free or at a reasonable price, parking provided, too.

CREATUS provides all sorts of activities-social, spiritual, recreational, even trips off-site-and people can join devotional services right inside or out in the community. There's a beautician for haircuts and more right on-site. Folks can get help with bathing, dressing, medications, and, if needed, the care team assists with heavy lifting or moving between beds and chairs using hands or special equipment, whether someone just needs reminders or full support. The memory care team stands out for being patient and gentle, making sure routines stay familiar and safe, using brain-stimulating activities and group events to keep minds active, and they keep a close watch on folks who are at risk of harm or self-injury. They admit people who might have behavioral issues, tough days, or complex physical and mental needs, with custom plans for each person. There's support for the full spectrum of living: independent, assisted, memory care, board and care, skilled nursing-even respite care for a short stay if a caregiver needs a break. And while it's a place where people can age in place as their needs change, the staff still pays attention to privacy and dignity, aiming to make life as home-like as possible, all under the steady management of Dr. Scott, who's hands-on and experienced. Reviews give CREATUS an average rating of 3.7 out of 5, and many mention the comfortable, mellow vibe and focus on making everyone feel welcome and well cared for, with a dedicated staff that doesn't turn over much, so faces stay familiar to the residents. The cost stays relatively affordable for the area, without a drop in the quality of services or care provided. The facility sits close to hospitals, shops, and local activities, helping folks stay connected with their community, and there's plenty of attention paid to maintaining a calm, well-kept environment, with group outings, on-site entertainment, meals, spiritual gatherings, and simple comforts like friendly staff and the opportunity for pets and family visits.
