    Beautiful, clean, caring, professional staff

I toured with my mother and was impressed - the house is beautiful, clean, and well kept, rooms are nicely personalized, meals are good and tailored to her preferences, and the location is convenient for visits. The staff and owner are friendly and very professional (licensed nurses and respite care available), so I feel confident recommending their well-organized, caring environment.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is cautiously positive: families and residents frequently praise the facility for being home-like, clean, well maintained and conveniently located. Multiple reviewers specifically noted professional and friendly staff, including named staff (Obed) and that the owner is pleasant. The presence of licensed nurses for home care, background checks on staff, and available respite/short-stay options are seen as clear strengths. Meals are provided three times a day and are described as happy and tailored to resident preferences. Many reviewers reported that their loved ones were well cared for, felt happy there, and that the environment felt organized and welcoming.

Care quality and staffing are viewed favorably in everyday, non-complex situations: staff are described as professional, friendly, and attentive; rooms are personalized and comfortable; and the house is well kept and clean. The facility presents as a smaller, home-like assisted living option that works well for people who need assistance with daily living but do not require continuous medical supervision. The combination of licensed nurses offering in-home care and the availability of respite stays makes it a good option for families who need temporary coverage or minimal nursing support.

However, there are several recurring and significant concerns that temper the positive impressions. A number of reviewers reported that the facility cannot provide 24-hour skilled care and that staff were unable to meet certain medical needs, which in some cases led to short stays or transfers elsewhere. There were also reports of poor communication and follow-up from management, plus problems with security deposits and refunds—administrative issues that caused frustration. Specific complications were noted regarding hospice transfers, indicating potential gaps in coordination for residents with complex or end-of-life care needs.

Life and activities at the facility draw mixed feedback. While the setting is described as comfortable and friendly, activity offerings appear limited; reviewers mentioned residents mainly watching TV and requested more organized activities. Physical and safety concerns were raised in a few reviews (for example, a chair lift issue), and some noted the common areas can feel crowded. Financial concerns were also mentioned—some families worry about affordability and the risk of funds running out—which suggests prospective residents should carefully review costs and contract terms.

In summary, Golden Manor Assisted Living appears well suited for residents who want a clean, home-like environment with friendly, professional staff and basic nursing support or short-term respite care. It earns strong marks for cleanliness, personalized rooms, meal service, and proximity for family visits. Prospective residents and families should exercise caution if 24-hour skilled nursing, complex medical care, hospice coordination, or airtight administrative handling (security deposits/refunds) are priorities. Before committing, families should ask specific questions about medical capabilities, emergency/24-hour coverage, activity programming, chair-lift/safety provisions, and contract/financial refund policies to ensure the facility meets their particular needs.

    About Golden Manor Assisted Living

Golden Manor Assisted Living sits at 7600 Woodyard Farm Rd in Upper Marlboro, MD, and folks who live here get a safe, comfortable place with a warm and home-like feeling where every resident gets treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, and that sense of understanding really seems to matter over time, especially as you notice how staff handle things like personalized care plans, so whether someone needs just a little help or something more, the team, including their Delegating Nurse and certified medication technicians, stays on top of medication management and makes sure personal needs don't get missed. The new 3,450-square-foot facility has five bedrooms, four full baths, and a mix of private and semi-private rooms, so you'll find a large semi-private room with two closets, two private rooms, and a deluxe suite that even has a walk-in closet and a big bath with a jacuzzi, and whatever choice, each one feels roomy and lets folks bring their own things to make it feel like home, with features like wheelchair accessible showers and stair lifts for those who need them, plus they've got walkers and the place is fully handicap accessible, so day-to-day movement stays possible even for those with some challenges.

They've been around since 2013, and a strong history with caring for dementia and Alzheimer's residents shows, as their caregivers get extra training to handle memory care, and they also work with hospice and respite services, whether someone needs long-term or short-term support, and families can count on the safety measures in place, like the strict indoor no-smoking policy throughout both private and shared areas. There's a focus on health, so the staff includes nurses, a doctor on call, podiatrist, dentist, and therapists for physical, occupational, and speech needs, and if you have special dietary requirements like diabetes or want kosher or vegetarian meals, the kitchen will handle that, preparing nutritious meals and snacks, along with some favorite foods from the residents' suggestions. Folks get help with daily activities like bathing, grooming, moving around, eating, and exercising, and care plans adjust as someone's needs or preferences change, and medication monitoring helps keep everyone safe, with nutritional counseling available as well to make sure wellness stays on track.

The place feels active and social, too, with a schedule of structured and self-directed activities both on and offsite, plus devotional services and special religious activities, games, and all sorts of events to help everyone feel included and connected, with a cozy family room and fireplace, spacious dining and breakfast rooms, a gourmet kitchen, and indoor and outdoor common spaces for spending time with others or having quiet moments, and the beauty and barber services available help folks feel their best. The environment's pet-friendly, so residents can bring their pets, and everyone benefits from daily housekeeping and laundry services, along with resident parking for those who still drive.

Golden Manor Assisted Living accepts both men and women, offers private and semi-private rooms, and has programs like Golden Sunset Services that make good use of the property for the residents' benefit. They focus on customizing services to fit each resident, whether you're looking for memory care, palliative care, short-term stays, or ongoing help in a retirement home setting. The digital platform they use helps with smooth operations and family communication, and there's always support and resources for families making care decisions. The goal is to keep everyone healthy, independent when possible, and enjoying a high quality of life, all while staying cozy and supported in a community that feels like home.
