About Sunrise of Carroll - CLOSED

Sunrise of Carroll, now closed and renamed The Terraces at Westminster, was a senior living facility that offered many care options like assisted living, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, and independent living. The building once held 62 to 75 beds and was known for its two-story structure that started as a historic mansion, giving the place a homelike feel. The community had studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and some were semi-private or companion rooms. Spaces included a country kitchen, exercise room, spa, libraries, an outdoor garden, and indoor TV and party rooms, all with wheelchair access and ground-floor units so getting around was a bit easier. Residents had air conditioning, private bathrooms, full tubs, kitchenettes, cable TV, telephones, and Wi-Fi in their rooms.

The staff provided help around the clock for those who needed assistance with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or taking medicine. Nurses and caregivers were available 24 hours a day, and there was an emergency call system for safety, plus on-site visits from physicians. Memory care residents had secured areas and special programs to help avoid confusion and prevent wandering. For extra support, the team offered diabetic care, incontinence care, medication management, hospice care, and physical therapy. The facility allowed pets-cats and dogs, even large ones-and had a beautician on-site. Common spaces hosted activities like arts and crafts, live music, book clubs, day trips, happy hour, and pet programs. The dining room served meals, including special diets and gluten-free options, and residents could join in devotional activities, both on-site and off.

Housekeeping and linen services aimed to make daily life easier, and the facility gave transportation for medical and non-medical trips as well as parking for residents and guests. Residents could smoke outside, and the building had a secured memory care area and features to help people age in place if care needs changed. Sunrise of Carroll was situated close to Westminster Senior Center and Carroll Hospital. The staff focused on a holistic approach to care and wellness, planning personalized programs to match each person's needs, and worked to support social, mental, and physical well-being through a range of daily events and activities designed for seniors, even those with mild cognitive challenges.
