    Small caring home, highly recommended

I placed my Uncle Stephanos here and I couldn't be happier - it's a small, beautiful, clean, well-organized home with an amazing, caring team and an attentive administrator; everyone gets personal attention and no one is neglected. It's not lavish or flashy, but the staff quality delivers comfort, peace of mind and real happiness. My only concerns are low RN pay, rigid shift scheduling and tight hiring scrutiny, but overall I highly recommend this place and am grateful for their care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on high-quality, compassionate care and a close-knit, home-like environment. Reviewers highlight the nursing staff and administrator as standout strengths — describing the team as caring, attentive, and exceptional in providing personal attention. Multiple commenters specifically state that residents do not get neglected and receive individualized care, producing peace of mind, comfort, and observable resident happiness. Several reviews explicitly recommend the facility and express gratitude for the care provided.

Staff and care quality are the most consistently praised aspects. Reviewers use terms such as "terrific," "amazing team," and "caring staff," indicating both clinical competence and genuine personal concern for residents. The administrator receives positive mention, suggesting competent leadership and responsiveness. These favorable impressions are reinforced by descriptions of the facility providing exceptional personal attention and a feeling that no one falls through the cracks, which points to strong staff-to-resident engagement and hands-on caregiving.

However, there are important operational and workforce-related concerns noted in the reviews. Several comments report low RN pay, a rigid stance on wage negotiation, and inflexible shift scheduling. Reviewers also mention "increased scrutiny of new staff," which can be interpreted two ways: as a positive quality-control measure or as an indication of hiring friction or transitional challenges when onboarding new employees. Taken together, the pay and scheduling comments suggest potential risks for staff morale and retention; while not all reviewers report turnover, these factors could create staffing pressure over time and are worth investigating by prospective families.

The physical and service-level profile of the facility is consistently described as small, clean, well-organized, and beautiful in a home-like way. Reviewers emphasize that Phillip's Manor is not lavish — several called it "bare-bones" — which implies fewer luxury amenities or high-end finishes but a focus on cleanliness, comfort, and efficient organization. This trade-off appears intentional and appreciated by families who value personalized care over resort-style features. Still, the facility is described as "expensive" by at least one reviewer, which raises a notable point: prospective residents and families should weigh the cost against the level and type of amenities offered.

Management and operational notes are mixed but informative. The administrator is praised, suggesting effective local leadership, while the mention of strict pay and scheduling policies indicates a formalized, possibly inflexible operational approach. The "increased scrutiny of new staff" implies management attention to hiring quality, though it might slow onboarding or create temporary staffing gaps. Reviewers do not provide detailed information about dining, activities, or clinical outcomes beyond the quality of personal care, so there is limited direct evidence on those areas; what is clear is that the facility excels at individualized day-to-day caregiving and creating a comfortable, pleasant living environment.

In summary, Phillip's Manor Nursing Home appears to be an excellent choice for families prioritizing compassionate, hands-on caregiving in a small, clean, and home-like setting. The facility's strengths are its caregiving team, personalized attention, strong leadership, and the resulting peace of mind for families. Potential residents should be aware of trade-offs: the setting is intentionally modest rather than luxurious, costs may be high relative to offered amenities, and there are reported staff compensation and scheduling policies that could affect staffing stability. Prospective families should ask specific questions about RN staffing levels, turnover history, scheduling flexibility, and what is included in fees to ensure the facility matches their priorities and expectations.

    About Phillip's Manor Nursing Home

Phillips Manor Nursing Home has served families in the Lynn and North Shore area for over 60 years, offering care for people who need support with daily activities or complex medical needs, and Richard M. Augeri owns and runs the place, keeping things independent without ties to big companies, so you get a community feeling that feels more personal, and with 38 employees taking care of just 22 beds, people tend to get more direct attention. The facility covers long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and respite care, plus there's skilled nursing, PT/OT/speech therapy, dementia and Alzheimer's care, hospice care, and palliative services for those who need extra support or help at the end of life, and on top of that, home care services reach people outside the facility who still want to stay at home with some assistance. Staff help with bathing, dressing, transferring, medication management, Ryle's tube feeding, bed sore care, catheter needs, and specialized care for specific health problems. Residents can get private, semi-private, and multi-bed rooms, all fully furnished, so no one has to worry about bringing furniture, and the meals come from a home-style kitchen with attention to special diets-meals are served "restaurant-style" so folks can enjoy eating together, plus snacks throughout the day for those who need a little extra. Housekeeping, laundry, and linens are done on-site, and each room comes with cable TV, a telephone, and Wi-Fi, which helps people stay connected. There's a 24-hour call system for help anytime, along with constant supervision, and the place has strict safety protocols, especially about COVID-19, including limited visitation to keep people safer. Phillips Manor has a small library, gardens, and outdoor areas to relax or get fresh air, plus a dining room, beauty salon, and kitchenettes, and people can join community and resident-run activities every day, whether they like games, crafts, or spiritual gatherings, with programs focused on social engagement and emotional health. The facility arranges regular visits from doctors, eye, dental, and podiatry care, and there's a 24-hour pharmacy for medication and consultations, plus radiology, lab services, and mental health evaluation. Residents get help with medication, and family caregivers can take a break thanks to respite services. Phillips Manor is Medicare and Medicaid certified, and aims to treat everyone with compassion, dignity, and recognition of their choices, focusing on personal needs right down to laundry for personal clothes and special diets. The building's smaller size and seasoned staff mean people often know each other's names, and the place tries to keep things feeling homey. The home has an A+ rating from the BBB even though it's not accredited, and has built up a reputation for solid care in the area, taking pride in its safety measures, and sticking to high standards through health crises and changes over the years.
