The Ellis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center sits on Ellis Ave in Norwood, MA, run by the Anthony A. Franchi Family, and you'll find it's a place focused on both rehabilitation and long-term care for older adults. The care center's got special areas for physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and those departments are right there in the building with therapy available every day, so people don't have to leave to get the help they need. The team creates personalized treatment programs for every resident, whether someone's recovering from a fall or illness or staying for ongoing, long-term care. Residents with memory concerns like dementia or Alzheimer's get specific supports, not just activities but also spaces and routines made for their needs. The nursing staff is known for high-quality care and attention, whether folks stay a short time or need long-term help, and there's an emphasis on treating everyone with dignity and respect, almost like family. Ellis offers comforts like a warm, home-like environment, plenty of activities to keep people engaged, and specialized programming that fits a wide range of needs. The facility has a nursing home rating of 3.7 out of 28 reviews, and while it's not perfect, the reviews mention that the staff is caring and the building feels welcoming. The Ellis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center specializes in both skilled nursing care and therapy, and it tries to make life easier for older adults by offering all these services in one place.

Inconsistent care, occasional excellent staff
I had a mixed, often stressful experience. The rehab therapists, social work team and several nurses were outstanding-caring, communicative, and helped with mobility and medical needs-but nursing/CNA care was inconsistent and at times dangerous (missed alarms/call buttons, ignored requests, soiled diapers, catheter/wound neglect, and a misdiagnosed aspiration that ended in a hospital trip). The building and grounds are pleasant and certain units are clean and updated, but staffing problems, weekend agency help, language/engagement issues, slow room changes, billing headaches and unresponsive management undermined care. I'm grateful for the excellent caregivers who helped us, but I would visit often, verify safety measures, and be cautious-this facility can be great or seriously substandard depending on staff on duty.
