    Attentive staff, clean, family-run facility

I moved my mom here and am very pleased - the staff are attentive, caring, and skilled, management is responsive, and the owners and nurses are on-site. The facility is clean and family-run, with excellent meals, a strong activities program, regular outings and nice amenities (Pub, salon, exercise), which give us real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Windsor Place of Wilmington is described across reviews as a well-kept, family-operated assisted living community with strong emphasis on personalized service and activity programming. Reviewers consistently praise the facility's cleanliness, attractive common areas and grounds, and a variety of on-site amenities such as a pub, salon, library, and fitness spaces. Management is frequently characterized as visible and hands-on, and the community's pandemic response and ongoing infection-control practices were highlighted positively.

Care quality is generally portrayed as a strength: families describe compassionate, attentive caregivers, 24/7 nursing availability, on-site clinical support and access to hospice services. Memory-care support is presented as a specialized offering with dedicated staff. At the same time, there are isolated but substantive clinical concerns documented in the feedback. These reflect perceived gaps in medication-administration practices, uneven application of safety protocols (including fall-prevention measures), and instances of inconsistent care coordination. A limited number of accounts raise questions about differences in experience and responsiveness between the memory-care unit and other parts of the community; prospective families will likely want to clarify clinical oversight and documentation practices during a tour.

Dining and social life are frequent highlights. The dining program is described as restaurant-style, adaptable to resident preferences, and generally well executed; desserts and special meals receive positive mention. However, reviewers also note occasional variability in meal quality and a few residents’ dissatisfaction with specific menu items. The community's activity calendar is robust, offering daily onsite programming, live music, exercise classes, games, educational lectures, and regular offsite trips and shuttle service. Reviewers attribute improvements in quality of life and social engagement to these offerings and to staff who learn residents’ preferences.

Physical accommodations and cost are mixed considerations. Many describe the apartments as clean and comfortable with easy proximity to services, but some note that certain units have limited square footage and closet/storage capacity. A number of reviewers find pricing to be above local alternatives and indicate limited options for lower-income residents. Location and distance from family were occasionally raised as a logistical factor.

Overall pattern: the dominant impression is of a community with strong interpersonal care, engaged leadership, and an active lifestyle environment. The primary operational concerns that emerge across reviews relate to clinical consistency (medication and safety practices), variability in dining satisfaction, limited private storage and smaller unit sizes in some apartments, and cost. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s clear strengths in staffing, activities, and cleanliness against these operational issues; recommended pre-move questions include clarifying medication administration and documentation processes, fall-prevention protocols, differences between care units, unit dimensions and storage, and pricing/financial aid options.
