    Beautiful, homey, attentive and well-run

I toured Sunrise Bloomfield for my mom and was very pleased. The building is beautiful, clean and homey with a secure, easy-to-navigate layout. Staff are warm, personable and attentive - they know residents by name and go above and beyond. Residents are social and active with lots of programs (bingo, music, crafts, outings) and on-site therapy; dining is good and accommodating. Overall a comforting, well-run community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Across the review set, The Bradford Senior Living is consistently described as a welcoming, activity‑focused community with a strong emphasis on interpersonal relationships. Many families and residents highlight the staff’s warmth, name‑recognition of residents, and a homelike atmosphere supported by decorative communal spaces and event programming. The community offers a broad slate of activities — from live music and themed events to outings and therapy services — that reviewers generally find engaging and beneficial for socialization. Physical environment comments skew positive as well, with frequent praise for cleanliness of shared areas, ample parking, and comfortable apartment options including larger suites.

Care quality and staff performance are mixed but show distinct strengths. Numerous notes praise individual caregivers, nurses, and leadership for being attentive, compassionate, and proactive with clinical issues and care transitions. On the other hand, a recurring operational pattern of inconsistent staffing — including turnover and reliance on temporary/agency personnel — correlates with complaints about missed personal‑care tasks (for example, missed showers or infrequent linen changes), delayed responses to resident requests, and problems with laundry and personal belongings. There are also multiple mentions of medication‑management inconsistencies and communication lapses around clinical follow‑up, which families found stressful; a separate review referenced an alleged resident‑on‑resident incident that underscores concerns about supervision in higher‑acuity areas.

Dining and activities are generally strong points. Several reviewers praised varied menus, accommodation of special diets, frequent events, and dining‑room options that foster social interaction. That said, meal quality and service continuity have been described as variable at times, particularly during periods of staff shortage or operational stress. The activities program is repeatedly called out as robust and a core benefit of the community, with many residents forming friendships and remaining engaged through organized programming.

Facility management and operations show a split in perception. Reviewers report attentive, hands‑on leadership and helpful admissions staff in many cases, including flexible month‑to‑month terms and concierge‑style services. Conversely, others described challenges with transparency around fees, occasional deferred maintenance, and inconsistent follow‑through on promised services. Communication with families is an area of concern: requests for clearer care plans, more consistent notifications about incidents or medical concerns, and regular care conferences were voiced repeatedly.

In summary, The Bradford appears to offer a warm, activity‑rich environment with many staff members and programs that families value. Prospective residents should weigh these strengths against recurring operational issues — particularly staffing consistency, laundry and linen processes, medication communication, and family engagement — and ask targeted questions during tours about current staffing ratios, agency use, laundry turnaround, medication policies, supervision in memory care/high‑acuity units, and fee transparency. Observing a mealtime and speaking directly with clinical leadership about communication protocols will help clarify whether the facility’s operational performance aligns with individual care needs.

    About The Bradford Senior Living

The Bradford Senior Living sits on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, not far from I-75, and is surrounded by lakes and quiet scenery, so you get a nice view and it's easy to get to, and you'll see that the place is designed for seniors with all types of needs, whether someone's looking for assisted living, memory care, nursing care, independent living, adult day care, or they need some rehab after a hospital stay, and there are options for both men and women only with a minimum age limit. Residents can find different kinds of rooms, like suites and private rooms in Memory Care, many with large windows and simple furniture like single beds, bedside tables, dressers, and some even have in-suite kitchenettes, while common areas have cozy fireplaces, TVs, and bistros, and there's a big dining room and some private dining areas too, all set up with white linens and floral-patterned chairs so folks can feel comfortable during meals. The staff includes nurses, caregivers, dentists, doctors, and a podiatrist, so help is there when you need it, plus a nurse and doctor can be called any time, and you'll find dental services, therapy for physical, occupational, and speech needs, home care, nursing home support, and even hospice and respite care. For folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, the community's got a safe and secure Memory Care area that comes with movie theaters with soft seats, patios with white hydrangeas, shaded tables, pergolas, private rooms, and accessible bathrooms with grab bars and alarms, and it all helps the staff provide a nurturing, secure place for people with memory loss. Seniors can bring pets, as it's a pet-friendly place, and there's also parking for residents who drive. The Bradford shines when it comes to activities, with a calendar full of events, plenty of onsite and offsite activities, devotional services for those who want them, activity rooms, refreshed common spaces, gardens, a big wraparound porch, and then beauty and barber services. Meals are included, with chefs using fresh, quality ingredients and asking the residents what they'd like, and dessert is served every night, so you don't go without some treats. Transportation is free for residents, so getting out and about isn't hard, and the living areas are made for socializing, with a lobby, bistro, fireplace sitting areas, and movie spaces. The Memory Care community stands out with its separate spaces, calm patios, safety features, and programming for memory support, while assisted living has personal help with bathing, dressing, medication, getting around, and aging in place is possible as care needs change. There's plenty of space, both inside and in the gardens around the building, and the staff stay dedicated to meeting needs with a focus on safety, comfort, and belonging, all backed by a Bronze National Quality Award from AHCA/NCAL. The Bradford Senior Living brings a wide range of options and services for seniors, whether a person needs a little help or a lot of care, so there's always support, activities, and a comfortable apartment waiting.
